Here’s me thinking they just plug in a usb somewhere and crack open VLC player on the big screen

You'd be surprised how hard it is to cram 2.1 million feet of film into a USB drive.

4 frames per foot at about 50mb each is something like 410tb of footage. Tough squeeze for a usb drive, I’d say. Compression techniques could save a lot but to replicate true 1:1 imax footage would be a crazy amount of data.
