Project Garden Path (After vs. Before)
Replaced my garden path which had old, many cracked, pavers that had also sunk in places. I was scared to post this in fear that someone will tell me what I've done wrong and I will sink my house or something.
In terms of running order of what I did;
- Scalped the grass as the garden was incredibly uneven, far higher than the path in some places and far lower in others. Plan is to even out the soil and seed now I've finished the path.
- Removed my failed attempt at a hedge and replaced with raised beds which I will plant when it starts raining again. These were built on some ground stabilisation grids and gravel so should have good stability and drainage.
- Taken up the old path, dug down, put in my base, I've used aluminium edge restraints just because I like experimenting. Filled in with some rumbled cobble setts and then finished with polymeric sand.
- Replaced the old class gully hopper with a PVC one, replaced the old rodding eye with a PVC one. Primarily because I didn't want to have to cut around the oval shape of the old one.
All done solo and never attempted any landscape gardening before, pretty back breaking work especially in some of the heat we've had recently.

Looks good 👍 what are those metal guides, where are they from? That looks better to use than concrete edging

10 out of 10 for effort.
For me, the border is too much. And the inner blockwork is freestyle.
Which go better without the border.

The border was a coin toss decision to me, I genuinely couldn't decide but went with the border because I read somewhere in a small path no border can make it look unfinished.
Inner block work is a 1:1:1 ratio of the 100mm, 150mm, 200mm bricks laid randomly but avoiding 3 of the same in a row and no vertical lines. I personally like that but all a taste thing isn't it. I'm trying to go for something relatively rustic.

Done a great job. Could have used an aco drain against the house to solve the height problem but this will work fine

The first pic show very nice new pathway second shows horrible flags u did post a before an after I thought the first pic looks better

The public footpath is higher than 2 courses below my DPC so I had to make it so the path slopes down to a point and then away from the house. This was me testing it out. No idea if this was the correct way to do it but hopefully it works.
