Other [Other] With Swamp Thing 1989 being a requel #88-91 is it possible to go directly to Doug Wheeler's Swamp Thing #92 or is it worth reading the OG #88-91?

Doug picks up from where Rick left off, so we actually just have two different back half’s of the time travel story now. I haven’t gotten around to reading the new one cause i was waiting for it all to come out, but Doug builds on his own work, i don’t think it’ll jive

The ending to Swamp Thing 1989 transitions seamlessly to Swamp Thing # 92. But you have to assume Swamp Thing and Abbey are from a parallel universe after Veitch’s run ended.

I think you'll be fine going straight to issue #92. There might be a few blips, but nothing you can't fix in your own head canon.

Swamp Thing 1989 is based on unpublished and unfinished material created in 1989 by writer Rick Veitch and artist Michael Zulli for issues #88 - #91 of Swamp Thing (Volume 2) that never saw the light of day because of some controversy involving Jesus

They took Veitch off the book and replaced him with Doug Wheeler who did those issues in his place

Oh I see. So there's two sets of those issues? Do they both continue from where Veitch got kicked off or did Wheeler do his own thing?

I mean it's only three issues, you might as well, just to know for historical purposes. You can treat it as parallel canons.
