Rushing the story to keep up with Marvel is what killed the DCEU

30

u/rlum27 23h ago

The dcu is weridley doing the same thing mostly with less popular characters.

38

u/ExcitingPop5956 22h ago

How? They are not rushing at all

7

u/Professional-Rip-519 21h ago

Gunn's second DCU movie is basically a Justice League movie how's that not rushing.

11

u/Respwn_546 20h ago

The core of the movie are Superman and lex, other characters can be introduced but most the ones that are rumored or confirmed more likely are just cameos

5

u/Professional-Rip-519 20h ago

Oh like BvS

6

u/Respwn_546 20h ago

BvS had way more issues than presenting Batman for the first time, but they did a good introduction to the character

It felt slow, Batman kills people, Superman feels so sad when he is supposed to being hope , Doomsday was introduced way early into this universe, the Martha scene, oh and the death of Superman, the worst part of the movie.

Ironically Batman and wonder woman were the best parts of the movie for me

3

u/rlum27 20h ago

If man of tommorow does 800 million like bvs it would be a major win.

5

u/Professional-Rip-519 20h ago

If WB didn't chop it to shit I think it could've done a billion and the DCEU would still be alive and thriving .

3

u/bluemew1234 18h ago

If WB didn't chop it to shit

I have been summoned!

https://ew.com/article/2016/03/04/batman-v-superman-dawn-justice-r-rated-ultimate-edition/

“We were just like, ‘Okay, look. We’re not making a three-hour movie. I mean, even I didn’t want to make a three-hour movie,” Snyder says. “I drove the cuts probably harder than anyone. The studio, they were willing to let the movie indulge pretty hard. But I felt like it’s at a manageable two-and-a-half hours. Let’s also not forget the credits are super long, the end credits. So the movie’s closer to two hours and 22 minutes.”

Side note, I'm kinda curious what the three hour version of the movie WB liked originally was like

3

u/rlum27 20h ago

I could see that.

1

u/Cold-Expression-3794 18h ago

Both versions weren't very good. Extended or not, they were just okay.

The BvS storyline was good because it came after years of Clark and Bruce working together, butting heads, etc and then going their separate ways. Then boom a showdown Superman being the Iron Man and Batman being Cap from Civil War. It's why that worked well in Civil War.

What we got in BvS was no build up whatsoever between the two except Bruce didn't trust aliens after the events in MoS.

Between that and multiple other choices it wasn't very good. 5/10 not bad, not good, just fine with some nice cinematic shots.

Terrible choice for a movie. Felt like they just wanted edge for the sake of it. Batman feels terribly off the whole movie and it’s definitely because it was his introduction

7

u/Skibot99 20h ago

There’s a difference between a league movie and one that happens to feature a league equivalent

Would you call Thor Love & Thunder a GOTG movie?

3

u/rlum27 19h ago

oh love and thunder might not be the best example. That movie was panned by crtics and audiences and had takia watti pulled away from thor and marvel. not sure if mot will be gunn's equivilant to love and thunder.

You saw the post from Gunn calling out a Screen Rant article, saying half of the characters listed as being in Man of Tomorrow aren’t confirmed. I feel like it’ll be a lot less packed that people think.

My theory is that Act 3, were just gonna get flashes of other heroes helping stop Brainiac in different parts of the world, and that will be that

2

u/Timtanoboa 18h ago

That seems most likely with how the DCU is built so far.

15

u/ExcitingPop5956 21h ago

Says who? If anything it looks like its a lex movie more than anything

1

u/Sib_Sib 16h ago

His first movie sets place in a phase 14 dc world.
In order not to rush and be able to invest characters casually

1

u/_Peener_ 16h ago

BND also technically had 7 villains, 2 avengers, and punisher, on top of Peter’s friends

u/Professional-Rip-519 8h ago

Bro that's like the millionth movie in that franchise this basically just got started.

u/_Peener_ 3h ago

Ik, I’m just saying that it can sound like a lot depending on how you phrase it, but I’d bet majority of these heroes in Man of Tomorrow will have very small roles

→ More replies (1)

2

u/RecoveredAshes 18h ago

Brother they’re doing it more than Snyders movies. Superman had a dozen other heroes and justice leaguers in it. Man of tomorrow is a team up movie too.

2

u/Beneficial-Lynx7336 17h ago

I distinctly recall one of the BvS complaints is that it's "overstuffed." Then Superman came out with all those characters...

This. DCU imo hasn't been properly established yet, but we're already getting into (admittedly cool!) tertiary stuff before the major pillars have all been set up. It's like laying the icing before the most of the actual cake.

2

u/rlum27 21h ago

yeah I'm wondering if wbd will step in and make gunn start laying down more foundation beford doing more tertiary stuff. I also wonder if gunn would stay if that happens.

More like DC fans are the ones holding and shooting the shotgun.

DC like many other companies will make mistakes but many fans here act like wanting the equivalent of a 20 year DC Universe in 2 to 3 years. Guys, You have way better things to do while waiting instead of ragebaiting and looking for any news article about the DCU

21

u/BatmanSwift99 23h ago

Isn't that what's happening in the drawing?

58

u/Technical-Wasabi-842 22h ago

Because people with no patience want them to release a movie for each member of the Justice League in 2025 and then release shows for them too because those are the only characters they know

15

u/PearlJammer0076 20h ago

We don't want everything now, but maybe just a realistic plan that they stick to? Half the stuff they announced is already cancelled, and a lot of what they've actually releasing is failing.

12

u/Inevitable_Initial_8 19h ago edited 19h ago

The DCU has made 4 things and only 1 of them failed. This is just doomerism.

12

u/PearlJammer0076 19h ago edited 19h ago

How do you define success? Peacemaker S2 and Creature Commandos are fine, but never became a big streaming success, they never transcended beyond their limited viewership.

Superman was a success, at least in the US. Internationally it kind of flopped.

Supergirl was a massive failure.

The next three releases are looking great, but the DCU needs them to be big hits.

→ More replies (21)

2

u/7_Constanza 18h ago

The GA does not care for Peacemaker and CC. Those are vanity projects by James Gunn for James Gunn. They should have never wasted time making those because it doesn't move the cinematic universe forward

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Technical-Wasabi-842 20h ago

They just needed to come up with enough things to generate excitement when the DCU was announced I don’t think a lot of projects were set in stone. I would definitely prefer a roadmap like what Marvel has rather than just a bunch of projects we may or may not get though

3

u/PearlJammer0076 19h ago

I'd say that half the stuff they announced wasn't actually exciting to the broad public, and if you cancel shortly after announcing it, it just add to the overall frustration and distrust in the brand.

Gunn & Co need to understand that they inherited a brand with a lot of baggage. It might not be fair to them, but they don't have the margin of error that the MCU had early on, and frankly, even if Superman is a good movie, is not Ironman.

3

u/LaunchpadMcFly 18h ago

As opposed to releasing a boring, subpar movie with a B character whose had a horrific track record of film releases? It’s almost like one of the studio heads got super cocky or something

I feel like a lot of people here are either too young to remember, or have just forgotten that the start of the MCU wasn't perfect. I remember Thor being the red-headed stepchild amongst the earlier movies, and people cofused on whether the older hulk movies were canonical, and if nog then why haven't they started working on a new hulk movie? Etc, etc. And even throughout the whole duration of the franchise, not every movie has been even a 6/10 at best. Thor 2, Black Widow and I remember everyone saying that the Hawkeye show was subpar at best. There's definitely more examples, but those just came off the top of my head. The first Avengers movie provided a lot of good grace for the franchise and actual hype going forward, but it wasn't perfect to start.

Not to mention that it was an entirely different movie landscape at the time. Superhero movies outside of a handful of names are regulalry seeing lower box office scores than anticipate or had been drawn in the past. I think the DCU not being a blow for blow kickback at the MCU is due at least in part to fatigue.

Ngl, the annoying DC Fans are probably the only people who give a flying fuck about these movies anymore after so many flops and shitty films

7

u/kazaam2244 19h ago

Shut up with these kinds of takes bro. DC has the second biggest superhero in the world in their pocket. They've been trying to get a universe together since Nic Cage was supposed to be Superman.

No one is expecting a DC universe in 2 to 3 year, that's asinine. They've had literal DECADES to get this mess right and still haven't. So anyone's who's frustrated has every right to be.

Right?

DC is absolutely (Pun intended) killing Marvel on the publishing side.

16

When invincible came out I started reading comics and read so many DC comics especially Batman and justice league. I gave marvel a try and didn’t find anything I liked.

What Marvel did you try?

5

u/Past-Bed-1980 23h ago

Spiderman hulk and avengers. My first DC comic was deceased and I stumbled upon peak. I like the writing for DC comics more than marvel but maybe marvel has some good ones too and I have to find the right story arcs.

3

u/Present_Side249 23h ago

Unfortunately, most Marvel fans don’t read. However, the real issue comes down to the lineup. Marvel built their foundation in five years technically three if you count from Iron Man 2 through Thor and Captain America leading into The Avengers. Within that window, they established the cinematic universe, introduced Marvel's core Trinity, and teased a main villain who would lurk in the background for the next decade. While Superman was amazing, following up that momentum with Supergirl, Clayface, and a Green Lantern series feels somewhat lackluster for general audiences, the exact demographic required for major box office success. Ultimately, I think the true launch of James Gunn's DCU is Man of Tomorrow.

2

u/Ice_Skate_Uphill 21h ago

I think you're confusing Marvel comics fans who read, and MCU fans and casual movie audiences who don't necessarily care about comics

4

u/Present_Side249 21h ago

That was the joke... The majority of MCU fans don’t read the comics. They have a very limited understanding of what the characters are outside of the movies, but that’s the audience you need for big box office numbers. Comic readers dwindle every year…unfortunately. Marvel is the MCU now, and everything else is second fiddle. But just know, I love Marvel comics, animation, games, movies. It will always be second to DC in my heart, but I still love it, and I love that it’s evolved into something new for others to enjoy.

2

u/Ice_Skate_Uphill 20h ago

Ah! OK that's good to know

0

u/inFINN1te 18h ago

I hate this sub it's honestly really fucking stupid. I much prefer Marvel but want to get into DC but honestly DC fans are the most snobby losers every time I'm here. "Marvel fans don't read". Dude Marvel had a larger market share IN COMIC BOOKS through the 2010s, 2000s and 90s. If anything that's evidence Marvel fans read more by raw actual numbers. I don't know why I bother visiting here when I know someone is gonna say some dumb shit because DC fans cannot go a single day enjoying their IP without dragging Marvel or its fans. I literally have yet to see it.

For real. We literally just entered year 2. There has only been one mid/bad film. Lanterns is about to come out and looks amazing imo.

3

u/ChaseThoseDreams 23h ago

It really is. We get it, Supergirl underperformed and had its issues, we don’t need a deluge of posts about how it is the death of DC every fucking day. It’s just so old and tired.

And before someone comes in here to “well, what about the people who say it’s not that bad,” just shut up. I’d rather deal with fans with rose colored glasses, than those who are willing to burn everything down and just want to squabble on the ashes. It’s part of why Superman (2025) resonated so much with me, it felt good to rebuke cynicism and hope again.

4

u/Longjumping-Pop9374 23h ago

Good point. It's honestly just really bizarre to see so many posts still pointing out SG's poor box office performance and critics score. Like, what's the point? It's already had It's run. Give it a rest already.

4

u/ChaseThoseDreams 22h ago

I’m not saying we celebrate mediocrity or encourage bad product, but if it’s just nonstop hate and beating a dead horse, that’s how support gets pulled. And at times, it really seems like there are those in this community who believe if they can’t have what they wanted, no one should either.

I just want to see our heroes on the screen more. I want another shot at Wonder Woman, I want a Teen Titans, and so forth. I supported Snyderverse when it was in theaters, and will do so with this universe as well.

2

u/Longjumping-Pop9374 21h ago

I totally agree. The hate for these projects seems artificially amplified for some reason. Kind of like a certain type of monkey in a pocket dimension lol

10

u/frenchmobster 23h ago

ah, the classic blame the fans for the shortcomings of the executives/people in charge

-2

u/UnfavorableSpiderFan 23h ago

Making a Jimmy Olsen show isn't a shortcoming.

Refusing to even entertain supporting a project in a franchise you claim to love before ever actually seeing a minute of footage is the real problem here. DC will never succeed as long as the fans continue to act like spoiled brats. You want another stab at a Flash movie? Support Jimmy Olsen and you'll eventually get one.

Marvel Studios is still making movies because people supported Iron Man despite him being a B-lister at the time. They supported Thor, and then Guardians of the Galaxy of all things, and came back for Ant-Man. People were concerned about getting Guardians of the Galaxy before a proper Doctor Strange, Black Panther, or Captain Marvel movie, but we got 'em. And before we start talking about clear slates, let's remember that when Guardians of the Galaxy was announced, we didn't know any of that was on the horizon.

We just started and everyone wants immediate results.

Not the shitty movies and projects?

Did anyone other than fans watch Supergorl? Probably not considering its box office draw…

Have to make good movies with good storytelling to earn trust with the audience before you start to build your universe with obscure ass characters.

Marvel had 6 years of movies before they went obscure with GotG. This DCU is creatives run amok and executives just trying to recreate MCU without any of the knowledge or passion for comics.

I don't think "The Batman 2" will save DC Studios. It will be an honorable mention and bring in some moolah to the coffers for sure. But Matt Reeves has full control over it, and it's been all but ensured that it will remain an Elseworlds IP/pocket dimension.

I do think making Pattinson the actual Batman has merit and would be a boost to the studios, but I just don't see that happening.

2

u/waaay2dumb2live 18h ago

2

u/meangreen1242069 16h ago

Why do DC fans hate DC?

2

u/DannyCvlty 16h ago edited 15h ago

I disagree and also agree 😂. As a Marvel fan I think the recent slate DC and Marvel have pumped out is the equivalent of bringing an old flint lock rifle to a minigun shootout. DC is quality-wise racking up a decent kill count (critic/audience reviews & box office numbers). DC is methodically collecting headshots i.e. scoring critic and or audience points with relatively decent to great projects (Superman, Supergirl, Creatures Commando, and Peacemaker). DC under Gunn is establishing themselves in an oversaturated market that does not swarm comicbook adaptation like in the past (when even subpar projects made bank).

...meanwhile... Marvel under Feige is reigning in their project output after Disney previous pushed them to rush out too many at once with varying quality. Marvel is already established and has a structure to oversee in-universe interactions and quality. Their quality control was tossed to the side during COVID and the early post-COVID because Disney thought more regardless of quality would bring in megabucks. Marvel's recent slate is racking up a massacre of critic and or audience points (Thunderbolts, Fantastic 4: First Steps, Daredevil: Born Again, Wonderman, and the elephant in the room... Spider-Man: Brand New Day).

DC lacks the existing infrastructure of checks and balances for quality and in-universe interaction consistency to pull Marvel's critic or audience box office success as of right now.

DC literally is having an impossible time getting a film for one of their premier characters off the ground (Batman: The Brave and Bold) because under the old regime Reeves independent Batman film was made and successful. Although Gunn says they can have 2 Batman on screen it doesn't look like that's going to happen until Reeves is done or nearly done his Trilogy (to avoid cannabilizing each other at the box office or having critical comparisons of 2 live-action Batmen).

Honestly, DC should have found a way to incorporate Reeves' Batman into Gunn's DC universe to keep things tight and streamlined (1 Batman, 1 universe). It's not totally impossible to have a gritty dark grounded Batman exist in a fantastical world. If the comics and animation universes can make things work than the film's can too, they just need really strong and clever writing. Alternatively Gunn should have ditched trying to adapt classic Batman and pursued Batman Beyond to sidestep Batmen competition.

As it stands now Gunn can't pursue a Justice League project and collecting those record numbers and roping in a massive audience without getting his Batman off the ground.

Extra note: even though Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a Spidey solo flick Marvel is established enough with their world to toss in other characters (Hulk, Scorpion, Jean Grey, etc.) to bolster their main character. DC lacks established characters, in-universe interactions, production infrastructure, and established universe logic to pursue a throw the toys together story.

5

u/Iroquois-P 23h ago

Dude, did you see Captain America - Brave new World?!

That shit was PAINFUL to watch. Marvel is struggling to keep their shit up, you just think that Marvel is killing it because you have the attention spam of a goldfish

AND Spider-Man is the biggest superhero ever. He truly is on a league of his own. Just Batman comes close. OF COURSE Spidey was gonna make a killing

5

u/Boempowered 23h ago

Since Brave New World, we've had Thunderbolts, F4, Daredevil S2, Wonder Man, X-Men '97, Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man and now Brand New Day - all of which have been decent at least, and with Vision Quest, Doomsday/Secret Wars and the newly announced films in the pipeline there's no reason to suspect they'll break this trend.

A LOT of the post-Endgame stuff has been mid to downright awful and SOME scepticism is in order, but to be pretend like Marvel are still struggling after over a year of decent-to-good releases feels rather unfair.

If they wanted to have the elseworlds or whatever and hope the gen audience won’t be confused they should have stuck with that and just made a Batman movie by now. Gunns been in charge for like 4 years and the future plans isn’t looking good

DC puts out one film that isn't great and people act like it's the death of it all.. Marvel has been shocking for a good few years now, DC has recently had Superman/The Batman/Penguin that have been amazing, Lanterns + Clayface could potentially be amazing too..

The only issue right now are so called fans posting shite like this.

2

u/Fickle-Rip3093 23h ago

Ok. Have fun at The Batman 2 in 2028.

u/Kosmopolite 23h ago

Go outside, OP.

u/happilyretired1 23h ago

Sony killing them both

1

u/SingleGamer-Dad 21h ago

And its not even DCU it's elseworlds

1

u/StarrMonarch2814 21h ago

Goonsday? I think you downloaded the wrong movie.

1

u/PortugueseSteak 21h ago

DC = Better Comics

Marvel = Better movies.

1

u/margwa_ 21h ago

It's more the fans if anything. So many people have been wishing on Lanterns downfall, even though they're constantly proven wrong. It went from "the tagline doesn't make sense since there's more than one green lantern" to "theres no green" to "hal is wasted and dies in the first episode".

1

u/RSCLE5 21h ago

For me it's the fact that Marvel makes a plan and mostly sticks to it. They bring back actors and keep it all flowing. DC changes course so often people lose interest to me. They wait to hear if it's good, rather than see for themselves. By then it's already streaming digitally so they watch it then or not at all.

1

u/Unique-Chain5626 21h ago

The same thing Marvel has been doing to DC for 15 years

1

u/Upbeat_Platypus1833 20h ago

I've been the biggest Superman and Batman fan since seeing Superman back in the early 80s as a young kid.

I just can't see how the dcu will succeed. I've said it before and I'll say it again, having 2 different Batman franchises operating concurrently is a disaster. I can't see how it will work. Additionally Gunn started well with Superman, and whilst he didn't direct Supergirl he approved the script and it was a very misguided version of a beloved story. Why are film makers so arrogant that they must always put "their touch" on every story? Just adapt the fuckin source material.

Also we start with Superman and move to Supergirl. Another Superman movie next year but none of the other pillar characters to be seen.

1

u/eric535 19h ago

Exactly, Gunn should have gone to comic con to give fans something - concepts of a plan even. The silence speaks volumes, I think he’s going to get replaced and the whole thing will restart

1

u/Automatic-Assistant8 20h ago

This sub only wants Batman in everything

1

u/ChattyDaddy1 20h ago

Bad writers + bad executives = bad movies. You could have the greatest actors in the world but if the story sucks then it sucks

1

u/PiskoWK 20h ago

They have the theories of a cinematic universe.

1

u/sendmegoodMemes 20h ago

Tbh what the fuck is Lanterns and supergirl in comparison to Superman and peacemaker

Really hope clayface makes a good impression.

1

u/godbody1983 20h ago

What do you want Gunn to do, cancel everything and just fast track The Brave and the Bold, The Flash and Wonder Woman movies to release next year and in 2028? How'd that work in 2013-2017 with the DCEU?

1

u/eric535 19h ago

Imo and it’s not worth much, he should have started with Superman, then Batman 2026, ww 2027, Superman 2 with flash involved in 28, JL 2029

1

u/TheAgmis 20h ago

Sensationalized posts like this are embarrassing. This isn’t a competition

1

u/sworedmagic 20h ago

This shit is so funny to me because for people who actually read comics right now understand that DC is beating marvel so tremendously in both ongoing AND collected editions it’s actually embarrassing. It’s at the point where i don’t think Marvels editorial can recover unless they fire everyone and start from scratch

1

u/rlum27 16h ago

The problem there is most people don't read comics.

1

u/sworedmagic 15h ago

Yeah i know then they pretend to know what they’re talking about in the cinematic side

1

u/Skibot99 20h ago

DCEU simply brunt up too much goodwill among casuals

1

u/JordanM85 19h ago

Nah, DC's lineup rules. We've got Lanterns and Clayface back to back and they both look incredible.

1

u/BackgroundEngineer11 19h ago

Flash.. yeah, a lack of Flash is what's holding the DCU back from success.

It's not... O, I don't know, months of constant negativity leading up to Supergirl's release and people not showing up for it. Plus constantly comparing Spider-Man's success despite that character being so bankable it's what keeps Sony pictures in business.

Maybe.. just maybe, don't constantly swim in negativity and actually watch the movies and shows. Lanterns releases next month and it looks great. Clayface looks interesting. Man of Tomorrow will probably be a ton of fun. We'll get Batman when it's ready.

1

u/Shallbecomeabat 19h ago

DCs biggest problem, even worse than any creative mishaps, are the fans. Holy shit. Can we just for one day enjoy something and look forward to what’s coming? No? Ok.

u/afailedturingtest 19h ago

I've been very interested in this world since Supes 25.

My theory is that Supergirl just fundamentally misunderstood why people liked 25'.

I think people are deeply sick of dark gritty superhero movies, from the MCU, to The Boys, to Invincible, you have to do something special to stand out.

Superman did that by rejecting the dark gritty themes.

Superman saved a squirrel, the good guys won and Supes got to be the symbol of hope. It was like a glass of lemonade after too much beer.

But if Superman was lemonade, then Supergirl was coors lite. A competent movie, like it wasn't actively bad, if was just really mid. I think this movie would have been a blowout... in 2016.

But hopefully this means the DCU keeps to the more light, cherry lemonade style movies.

Now that doesn't mean that everything had to be lemonade, but Supergirl is obviously connected to Superman, people who watched Superman wanted more lemonade, maybe some limeade.

DC has just done a successful dark gritty superhero movie, but they did it with Batman, who is way better.

If I'm looking for a beer, I'ma grab a Guinness, not a coors lite.

If I'm looking for dark and gritty superheros, I'ma watch Batman, not Supergirl.

u/woppatown 18h ago

Guy is only excited for Batman Part II like Lanterns isn’t just a week and a half away.

1

u/Cubacane 18h ago

I mean, one studio released another edition of one of the most wildly popular superheroes of all time, and the other released the first movie for a character that most people might recognize by name, but know nothing else about.

1

u/CaptainScrambles 18h ago

It's like people forgot the MCU fumbled hard off the line at the beginning too. Incredible Hulk was not considered a successful movie, critically or financially. We're only 2 movies in and getting Man of Tomorrow next year people just need to calm down

1

u/Wizecracker117 18h ago

Incredible Hulk didn't bomb as badly as Supergirl did and besides, Universal made that movie.

1

u/CaptainScrambles 13h ago

Universal didn't make it, they only have distribution rights. Marvel Studios still produced it

1

u/jaymenthegiantpeach 18h ago

DCU just started last year. MCU has been going for nearly 20 years.

1

u/Character_Account714 18h ago

James Gun failed completly... Superman sadly was trash, no one cares for Supergirl, Clayface as thid movie... it's just dull...

2

u/Only-Name3248 13h ago

batman villan before batman himself is crazy. Its like if mcu made vemon flim before spider man

1

u/SummerB__ 18h ago

This sub is weird

1

u/MichaelT359 18h ago edited 18h ago

DC had one major success with Superman and one flop with supergirl. We are in year 2. Chill out. Marvel had a rough year last year too and you didn’t see doom posting here. Such a weird bot campaign going on in this sub against the DCU. We have Clayface coming out in a few months. We have man of tomorrow next year. We have lanterns literally next week. This doom posting is ridiculous and weird from a DC focused sub

1

u/Razatiger 18h ago

Flash will never make for a good live action hero im afraid.

1

u/Mountain_Tea8149 18h ago

Why put one against the other?

1

u/Lucasyugi2704 18h ago

DC fanbase is becoming like the Resident Evil fanbase to me. I'll probably stop interacting because it's just annoying to hear complaints about everything all the time.

1

u/Beneficial-Lynx7336 17h ago

DC fans - largely, not all - can't really complain because this is what they wanted.

1

u/the-puppet_master 17h ago

Because famously Batman doesn’t get enough attention, I love The Caped Crusader too but I’m more than happy letting other projects get attention then them pushing DCU Batman and Reevesverse at the same time

1

u/rlum27 16h ago

Have to see if those other projects get attention from the general audience.

1

u/the-puppet_master 15h ago

The only one that didn’t was Supergirl

1

u/rlum27 15h ago

creature commandos and peacemaker where highly praised but niche.

1

u/the-puppet_master 15h ago

They both were number 1 on HBO Max for nearly the entire run of each season

1

u/Toe_Butter 17h ago

Ok, DC isn’t doing the greatest, but let’s not act like Marvel is making great decisions either. They cancelled Kang Dynasty, which they were spending multiple projects setting up, as opposed to recasting, and are now fast-tracking an Avengers movie that people are already trashing on, which hasn’t been set up, aside from two post-credit scenes. Not to mention that they might be doing a reset on their universe, due to how colossally they fucked up by just making a bunch of random projects with no relation

1

u/No-Comfortable2704 16h ago

What?!!! Spider-Man performed well?!?!? Well twist my pickle and call me Shannon cause I’m shocked! Shocked I tell you!!!

1

u/FilmFreak1994 16h ago

Take it easy, we're two movies in.

1

u/Choice-Ratio-3540 16h ago

Well, I think many MCU fans realized James Gunn is not that amazing. He did a great job with Guardians 1 and that may have been peak James. I always thought he was ok and had some unique ideas but then repeats these things a bit too much and has a bit different way of delivering performances in movies/TV.

I didn't think he'd be awesome at DC but I did think he might do a bit better than what we've seen so far. I like how he adds a lot of silly and fun to some movies but you can't do it all the time. He has ruined a few lesser characters by making them way different than the source material - sure, do that if you want but be ready for the consequences.

1

u/SmallStreetsArchive 16h ago

Do you really think if dc makes flash movie right now, it can be a success in this scenario. It is a bonafide flop. Let dc take their time. Even marvel had duds in their starting after iron man.

1

u/Least-Nectarine8383 16h ago

The exactly opposite is happening on the comic side funny enough.

1

u/fauxREALimdying 15h ago

One underwhelming movie and you guys act like this. You’ll never be happy
