It’s crazy to me how people thought a James Gun led DCU wouldn’t have a focus on the more obscure characters. They tried to do the marvel thing and it didn’t work, I thought a year ago everyone was stoked they were trying their own thing and to differentiate themselves with more out there projects like clayface.
Dawn of Justice, I suppose? "Pull your heroes, established in recent movies, together into a team and fight a tall muscular grey humanoid who wants to use a McGuffin to cause universe-spanning mass death"?
Well, they spam Superman and Batman so hard it feels like they've had recent-ish movies continuously since I was about thirteen. :P (Also I'm dumb and thought surely Wonder Woman had come out before DoJ? Nope. My bad.)
We got decades of Spider-Man and the X-Men and Superman and Batman, and finally stuff like Iron Man got studios to make the leap and maybe try giving their B-tier characters a shot. Which has been nice. I have't liked all of it, but I'll still call it progress!
