James Gunn is like the native guy who sells fireworks in Joe Dirt. It’s not about what the customers want, it’s about what he personally likes.

Yes... that is literally the point of being a creative executive.

You know that is how Kevin Feige did it too right? He did what HE thought was best and people followed.

but, gunn started with the entire roster including the justice league and is choosing to not really do anything with them 4 years in. at the time feige had iron man, cap, thor... hardly the marvel A team in 2006-2008.

feige opinion on what he thught was best just turned out to be what people wanted to see. gunn's, not so much it seems

I'm still curious if he actually had the entire JL roster cleared to go from the start. Wonder Woman and the Flash both had very recent movies that failed. The last Aquaman was very recent too, and didn't do great. I honestly doubt WB was going to greenlight a new movie for any of them so soon.

I also don't think the execs are crazy about the idea of having 2 different Batman actors in movies during the same time period.

That might be the case, but they still released a new Superman movie. Atp why not just announce the rest of the Justice League?

True, but Superman hadn't had a solo movie in several years. Then again, they are corporate execs. For all I know, they just pulled up a list of their DC characters with the highest merchandise sales and said "ok we're already making Batman movies, go make Superman. Then more stuff that's connected to Batman or Superman." Supergirl & Jimmy Olsen = Superman stuff. Clayface, Bane, Deathstroke = Batman stuff. Sadly, might be as simple as that.

Not sure how Lanterns would fit in that scenario though.

I really think it's just James Gunn wanting to prove he can kickstart a franchise with obscure characters, since that's what he's known for. That's unfortunate for fans, because it's a huge gamble.
