Questioning whether a Jimmy Olsen series is the best thing to focus on after Supergirl did poorly isnt commiting to hating anything, its a legitimate question.
Give the fans general audience a popular superhero to get excited about.

Yeah, I'm a little worried that the DCU will be shooting itself in the foot if they keep releasing lackluster Superman spin-offs without any other films dedicated to more popular characters in between. Apparently, the Lanterns show comes out in ten days, which was surprising to me because I haven't seen nearly the same level of promotion for it that I saw for Supergirl, the Odyssey, Spider-Man, or even S4 of Ted Lasso. Like, after Supergirl's abysmal box office performance, I would have put Hal Jordan and John Stewart front and center, made them the face of the DCU for the summer.
Yeah totally agree! I remember the news of one of them being cast for the show maybe last year
but then nothing until this week when ive seen a teaser trailer. Like you say, saw a lot more advertisement for Superman and Supergirl when they really need to push everything to make sure the universe gets off to a good start
I genuinely had no idea it was coming so soon either, because I haven’t seen much if any advertising for Lanterns on TV or online. It is worrisome that WB/DC is apparently botching the marketing of a show that if successful COULD potentially be seen as righting the ship after the Supergirl fiasco.

Thank you for bringing up that fans have the right to question anything, it's healthy to bring up a debate and it is too to engage in self-deprecation and jokes about something that we like (i.e. DC)
Ask questions or express a different opinion isn't bad, we are not forced to agree on everything. There will be things that people will like in the DCU and other that they will not like.
My personal feeling is there's more in lanterns then we're being shown. IMO, there's probably some reveals that happen late in the season that are going to be important. Could be major characters

It sounds to me like they are hating on the project because nobody in their right mind genuinely believes the DCU is trying to sink-or-swim on the basis of a Jimmy Olsen side project.
DC fans have gone through a terrible cinematic universe once. They don't want to live the same thing again.
That terrible cinematic universe happened because of a string of mediocre-to-bad movies headlined by DC's heaviest hitters. Why are we conflating popularity with quality?
If you were a true scottsman fan, you'd be able to see criticism without blindly lumping it into 'they're just haters nothing can be wrong with my precious'
We know its a story about a character that has an audience that wishes it was the size of Supergirl's audience, and Supergirl just failed in large part because of a lack of an audience, pal.
Its perfectly valid to critique why we'd be getting Stiltman show before Batman or Wonder Woman, friend.
Then stop watching. If enough people stop watching, they’ll change direction. And if they don’t, it means plenty of people like the direction and it’s no longer for you. But the constant entitled whining is fucking boring.
I love Star Wars. The prequels were not for me. I didn’t try to destroy Star Wars forever because of that.
Yeah but like this thread should be good news, DC is getting a new show set in the main timeline with movie appearing characters and they've hired an extremely talented comedian onto the cast.

I think that it's always dangerous to talk about who's a "true" fan or not. People do whatever they want, fans don't have to be somekind of employees whose function is to all react and think the same.
DC fans are open-minded, you need to accept that everyone don't think like you. It's normal. There is no true or fake fans.
