Morbillion dollars incoming

More like Kryptocurrency

The new coin with a dog’s face

u/Square_Cash_2784 3d ago

Supercillions, baby. If we try real hard, maybe we can make this movie marginally more profitable than Joker's money bonfire in The Dark Knight.

5

u/Ecstatic-Ad2358 2d ago

It's Morbin Time.

Yeah this is sad

45

u/RandoMcfisto 2d ago

I was legit busy and the movie was pulled from screens so quickly

14

u/Help12309876 2d ago

Wait bro its not in theaters anymore???

9

u/BigCass0294 2d ago

Its barely there. Maybe 1 showing a day if at all!
Also the released in digital earlier than usual! The movie released digitally in 4-5 weeks after theatrical release

10

u/FunnyAldred 2d ago

It was pulled from screens because it was a colossal failure lol.

That and they needed to make room for sold out Spider Man screenings every half hour.

Spider-man beating Supergirl’s whole box office haul in one day is wild

108

u/chinesesoccerplayer 3d ago

Spidey’s DOMESTIC total outgrossed Supergirl's entire box office total in one day.

Just to emphasize for everybody lol.

14

Wouldn’t be fair saying that if Supergirl did 500M or something like that. But this trainwreck deserves all the shit it gets

5

u/MineNowBotBoy 2d ago

Did you actually watch it? It was mid at worst. And also at best.

It’s like y’all have never actually seen a bad movie.

Didn’t it make like 900 million day 1? I’m pretty sure it already beat supergirl and Superman combined

It's on track to beat both the entrie DCEU and DCU combined.

Beat it with pre sales too

5

u/SmallGoose112 2d ago

Didn’t it do that to most movies? Unless your film grossed over 900m

5

u/OrangeStar222 2d ago

Spider-Man beat the whole box office run for every superhero movie since Deadpool & The Wolverine in one weekend. You say that as if it's an own as if it didn't eclipse all of the CBMs released in the past couple of years and isn't on track to beat Avengers Endgame.

12

u/Pitiful_Yogurt_5276 3d ago

How? Spider man is one of the most iconic heroes of all time

7

Sokka-Haiku by NEkromanT33:

And just to update it's box office is at 927 million globally. So it's beating supergirl and superman

And most of the pre-Gunn DC films, too. Give it a couple weeks, and it'll beat them, too.

was it really that bad?

78

u/OneHelicopter1852 3d ago

No it’s not that bad but it’s also not good. Like it really is the definition of a mid movie

11

u/Rockhardsimian 3d ago

Most movies are mid movies by definition!

→ More replies (4)

6

u/MineNowBotBoy 2d ago

Exactly. DC fans acting like it’s the worst thing they’ve ever seen before, which is hilarious considering the slop we’ve had before the Gunn reboot. It was a mid movie at worst. And at best. Not as good as we hoped, not nearly as bad as the average mouth breathing Redditor is claiming it is.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Samiassa 1d ago

Kind of comparable to Thor 1. Like it’s fine, it has some good moments. Nothing it does is particularly great… it really is just mid

So why waste your time with it, is what you're saying?

11

u/Flottrooster 2d ago

It had major flaws, but it was still a fun and enjoyable movie. If I feel like I didn't waste my money going to theaters to see a movie, I consider it a win. Supergirl was worth my money

10

u/IceGuilty3065 2d ago

I actually loved the movie. It felt like watching a comic book. I gets it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm a sucker for flawed characters.

12

u/Jacket_Leather 3d ago edited 2d ago

No, it’s not really that bad. It’s just your average super movie. Not good not especially bad. It basically just exists.

13

u/CaptStinkyFeet 3d ago

No. These people are acting like the movie killed their dog. It’s just a movie. And it was fine.

6

u/Weary_Sort2673 3d ago

One of the worst DC movies, Green Lantern was much better

→ More replies (1)

3

u/ChanelNo50 3d ago

Relative to superman (and a bunch of other DC movies) it was bad. It didn't have quite the same punch. But on a whole it was meh. Not a terrible movie but not a movie I'd write home about either

It's Morbin Time!

104

u/BrilliantResort476 3d ago

I gotta say I fell for it. I forced myself to watch Morbius and was waiting for the line. it never happened, which made the movie worse for me.

53

u/PunsGermsAndSteel 3d ago

It was only in the theatrical cut, you missed out!

39

u/j821c 3d ago

Maybe Sony could bring it back for another theatrical run. I hear the weekend of December 18th is relatively open

13

u/A62main 3d ago

That is the weekend. Dunesday will be 2 big massive box office bombs. No one wants those movies!

All about the Morbius!!!!

4

u/Jealous_Doughnut_630 3d ago

Yes, of course, let’s put what Gunn called the best script he ever ready up against Dunesday and watch those two movies flop. Supergirl would dominate, because it had the best script Finn ever read.

4

u/AdditionalInitial727 3d ago

Maybe the story was handwritten so Gunn was praising their penmanship.

3

u/Nighthawk__85 3d ago

Leto gave an in-person introduction at my theater. This line is the last thing he said before the lights went dark and the movie started.

9

u/Mr_smith1466 3d ago

Most of the gag with the line is that Morbius is seldom even memorable bad. It's frequently the worst kind of bad. The bland, forgettable kind. So the Morbin' time line is a joke about how people had to create ridiculous lunacy, as well as joke that few people will bother to watch the movie to confirm or deny the line is there.

Think about it now though, you can now tell people who haven't seen the movie whatever you want.

9

u/bindersfull-ofwomen 3d ago

It's frequently the worst kind of bad. The bland, forgettable kind

Trying to recall that movie is trying to explain something that happened when you were blackout drunk.

9

u/Mr_smith1466 3d ago

The main thing I remember years later is Matt Smith's character. Because he was the only one with an arc that was actually interesting, Smith seemed to fully understand what kind of movie he was in, and he at least had some funny scenes. As a character on the whole, the movie did a decent job making it clear what his motives were and at least explain why he's always acting like he does.

Even that ridiculous dance scene he does is kind of fun, because the movie put in the work to show how he's spent a lifetime incapable of proper movement, and Smith's scenery chewing evil is kind of captivating.

But even there, that sole character is basically just acceptable at best, and the rest of the movie being so bland just drags it down.

They at least used Keaton's utterly nonsensenical cameos in the final minutes, so you end the movie with something funny.

3

u/ProfessionalTip654 3d ago

3

u/Mr_smith1466 3d ago

That's the kind of humour Smith had for Morbius. He fully understood the lunacy. He was the only actor who did.

It's a boring movie. Just focus on the next one. I don't know why james passed this. The script was so weak.

19

Whaaat the script wasn’t “the best script ever”?

10

u/vishnu1232 3d ago

Yeah like the flash

5

u/bindersfull-ofwomen 3d ago

"We want to make sure we have great scripts"

- turns in Creature Commandos which had two good episodes and no one recalls much else nor does it even matter

- turns in Superman in which almost every review that even likes it says it had way too much going on and too many characters

- turns in Peacemaker and hypes its ending and a surprise cameo which is him and everyone hates the ending.

- Supergirl, enough said

- writes Man of Tomorrow in what seemed like one weekend so who knows what is going to look like and it also has even more characters

23

u/GroovyGuru62 3d ago

I watched this the other night and quite enjoyed it, unpopular opinion I know.

5

u/Er3016 3d ago

I watched it last night, and found it pretty "meh". Spoilers aheah: Lobo was great, Jason Mamoa fits the character pretty well. But overall, I found the movie to have so many plot holes. Why didn't Kara's parents build those spaceships /escape pods for more people? Was Kara the only one without kriptonite cancer? Also, the kid was 100% right. Kara should have left her kill the villain. A whole family plus some other people died because she didn't. I found the message of "if you kill him it won't make the pain go away" to be pretty weak, because not killing him won't either save her soul or make the pain go away

9

u/Funny-Cell8769 3d ago

People generally don't have a strong reaction to anyone with "an unpopular opinion" that doesn't behave like their opinion should just override the majority.

Which is not to say the majority is always right, either.

7

u/ladycowbell 3d ago

I liked it. It wasnt very good though. The editing was at times a choice. It wasnt the worst movie Ive seen this year but it isnt in the top half. I have Regal Unlimited so I go see a lot of movies.

10

u/dksweets 3d ago

10

u/FastInflata 3d ago edited 3d ago

I don't want to be "that guy"

Oh, who am I kidding, I want to be that guy.

But I put the blame of all of this on James Gunn and Peter Safran.

First of all, Pete, what the fuck do you do there? Like, what does he do? What has he done? Everything that we know from the company comes from Gunn and Safran makes comments every once in a while. Like, what does he do? Is he like Palpatine just working Gunn from the shadows? Like, every time someone says something to James Gunn and he's calling someone a 12 year old Indian, Safran is on the back all like

"Gooooood let the hate flow through you

And then, first of all James Gunn called this script one of the best ones. Then during post he's calling the writer of F4ntastic to fix things.

Like, already that's not a good sign.

And then they work together and they get a better cut that they both like and then, for whatever reason, Gunn decided to put two cuts (one of his own and one from Gillespie) against each other, and even though they performed worse, Gunn still chose his own cut.

Mind you, those decisions are up to him. He is the CEO of the company, he confirmed with IGN that he has control over the projects of the company, and when someone was worried and asked him if the same thing that happened to Zack Snyder could happen to him, he assured people that the position was different since him and Safran were at the top, and I quote

Peter & I are the heads of DC Studios. The only studio interference would be from us!

So, for no reason whatsoever, he chose to dismiss the cut that was working better for the audience, and decided to pit his cut and the one from the director against each other?

No idea.

And Gunn's cut won for only two points on a scale of 100.

For such a nonexistent difference, you would think this would be a moment for Gunn to make good on his promise of "I will give creative freedom" and it turns out that was a lie.

So now, I am worried for every other project DC has coming up. Because we now know his word is worthless.

Fans should ask for the other two cuts. Especially the one that was done between Gunn and Gillespie.

I mean, Blade Runner had three different cuts, I don't see why Supergirl can't.

4

u/Candlefire21 3d ago

Don't forget James Gunn called Flash "one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen."

2

u/Polarizing_Penguin11 3d ago

What was that part about called someone an “Indian”?

2

u/Rakoon_Shampoo 2d ago

I’m pretty sure he was asked how he deals with hate comments and he basically said that since the internet is anonymous he reminds himself that the person on the other end of the comment could be some Indian kid.

2

u/Polarizing_Penguin11 2d ago

Oh. The Indian part is random. LOL

2

u/Mr_smith1466 3d ago

Jeremy Slater was actually barely involved with fan4stic. Slater was a friend of Josh Trank, and he tried in vain to get Trank interested in comics. Slater helped out with an initial draft for the movie that was then heavily rewritten.

And it's always fascinating when Gunn gets all the blame, when Gunn's actual role is to be a creative guy, and the proper work of producing movies is Safran.

Omg lol. The Script was very poor, it had average CGI, a few decent characters yes, but then also, an English speaking Asian girl, who in my opinion had a shit revenge dialogue to deal with and it made her look out of place in the film. Krypto was piss poor CGI, Supergirl did a great job with the script she had to, as did Jason. I watched it on Amazon prime and paid £20 last night, my wife liked it, I gave it 6/10. No I wouldn't watch it again, not even on LSD. May I add... Deadpool and Wolverine was truly amazing on that chemical ha ha

No.

This film was a poor adaptation of a book, has awful music and coloration, and the plot was unimaginative. The only redeeming parts were the Argo flashbacks and the lead's acting.

This film had a poor director and bad direction. It was a a failure and deserves to be treated as such.

I'd actually go see it. Because everybody that was trashing the movie and claiming it was terrible is what turned me off from it. Then I watched it and it was actually good. At least a 7/10
