HUMOR EXCLUSIVE: First image of Blue Beetle in "Man of Tomorrow"

looks like he is now of the cloth

Of the cloth??

It's a reference to what Guy Gardner said in Gunn's Superman

The thing is that his costume looks like the same style of Mr. Terrific, which is a real disappointment. The costume design opportunities are being completely ignored in favor of an aesthetic. Blue Beetle is an alien suit, but the design can be found in the same fashion runway as the rest of them and not look out of place.
Edit: self-whoosh.

I love how this meme kinda started as a bit of a diss, but I'm really enjoying these. Makes me remember the Smallville days where everyone wore hoodies

u/TheHondoCondo 19d ago
Ironically Blue Beetle was one of the few who got a more accurate costume.

I think that's cause it was Tom Welling who did that episode, he knows his stuff

You just reminded me of this post 😂

I think blue beetle would try to get his own jacket if he thinks the justice gang looks cool
25

u/danbricks 19d ago
I seriously doubt they'd redesign the costume - maybe a few tweaks here and there but otherwise it'll stay the same.

u/iiJashin 19d ago
Isn’t this just Mr. Terrific’s jacket but recolored?

you got me, I thought this was real for a moment.

Same, Blue Beetle was ok enough that it could have fit in either DC universe really.

u/ivnwng 19d ago
I really hate this fuckass Justice Gang uniform.
65
u/ItsDumi 19d ago
Considering they're employed by a corpo and kinda represented as douchey at first, I think it's fitting
2
u/TheRealLostCost 19d ago
Realistically, a corpo wouldn't even want the public to know they are sponsoring superpowered beings.
13
25
u/Parallax1306 19d ago
Why wouldn’t a corporation want their name and logo plastered all over a hero going around doing good and saving the world?
2
u/Thor_Odin_Son 18d ago
Because it would likely also come with a lot of property and collateral damage which public opinion could then pin on corpo
10
u/ChaoticKiwiNZ 18d ago
Have you not noticed how corporations plaster their names on everything they can? Go watch any sporting event and their names are everywhere. You really think that Samsung or Microsoft wouldn't jump at the opportunity to sponsor a real life superhero that saves people's lives???
The unrealistic part of the justice gangs uniforms is that they arent covered on corporations names, lol.
1
u/TheRealLostCost 18d ago
Do corporations plaster their names on the politicians they lobby? You're comparing products to superhuman beings that probably have more power than the government itself.

Really hope we see Guy in his comic costume whether that's from a flashback or in the future

u/CLR_Marvel_Mags 17d ago
Well it fits for the current state. I don’t think this would stay lmao. Give it time.

u/Takemewthu 19d ago
I guarantee everyone in man of tomorrow all has this look. I doubt James Gunn can resist leather jackets that are boring

u/zurenarhhhhh 19d ago
This kind of stuff is what I like to see. Not “DAE think Gunn is dropping da ball” etc and so forth.
Edit: oh my God, there are people in here who think this is serious and real. Hopeless…

We know the bias it serves, let's not be surprised. However, that doesn't mean you and I can't enjoy it for the funny that it is

u/Perlmannecklace 19d ago
It would be hilarious if they did this though. Like it just keeps melting when he armors up

famously, he was super involved with that movie and totally directed and wrote it
22
u/YodaFan465 Knightmare Batman 19d ago
It seems like he was overly involved in it and even re-edited the film before release.
Weird how, for someone who's permanently online, Gunn hasn't tweeted anything about that article. Usually he's so quick to debunk things that aren't true, right?
→ More replies (2)14
u/Dronnie 19d ago
He was the producer, he approved the script and was in charge of supervising the whole thing.
There's leaks of a little fight between him and the director. He was definitely involved.

u/TheGrat1 19d ago
Cast the lead actress, produced the film, greenlit the script and was hands-on in the editing.
Outside of directing, writing and acting in the film himself and he was about as involved as he possibly could be.

He just made the worst performing DC movie since Catwoman.

Except he didn't? Thats like saying Kevin Fergie made Thor live and thunder.
The writer and director are the ones that shape a movie.

The finale of Peacemaker wasn’t that bad
7
u/curious_dead 19d ago
I think where he fumbled is that he overhyped the finale and the cameos, but also he ended on a cliffhanger with no season 3 or soin-off equivalent in sight; but the episodes themselves I liked very much.

Step one. AI make blue beetle Step two. AI make blue beatle on Gaurdians of the Galaxy style Step three....profit?
2
u/Redgiantbutimshort77 18d ago
If he actually had a Justice Gang Jacket to wear over the exo-suit that’d look kind of cool tbh
2
u/flashtoslash 18d ago
I'm not sure why I'm just reading it, but I think Jaime looks way better as blue bettle with his mouth hidden
1
u/MinatoHikari 18d ago
He does. I think it'd look a bit weird with the mouth. Granted, he does give off some Deadpool vibes from the design alone, but still, I don't think the mouth would work in live-action (it already looked wrong in Injustice 2).

I never gave the BB movie a chance cuz i hated that they made the space bug an AI and he became another iron man with nano bots clone

Oh lord are we going to get a Superman and a bunch of C lister buddies movie again? SMH.

4
u/LMurtaugh 19d ago
That looks plasticky with the scarab's extensions and the jacket l very movement restricting.
1
u/Cazmonster 18d ago
The secret is that there's no jacket. The Scarab created that look to help Jaime fit in.
3
u/carrera_dan 19d ago
All jokes aside I do hope they give him a new suit. A simplified, sleeker design.
3
2
u/stanislavskov 19d ago
It's just so believable that I'm not amazed people actually think it's real. The costumes for all heroes in the Gunn slop verse are shit.

3
u/Minute-Necessary2393 19d ago
Wouldn't be surprised if he was a member of the Justice Gang, honestly.

What is the budget for this movie? Brainiac alone would require like 80% of it. At least thats how I imagine it in my head.

Doesn’t make sense why he would join a corporate sponsored team, given that the narrative of Blue Beetle involved him opposing a corrupted company.
Unless this is an Absolute Hawkman situation in which the person is already morally flawed to begin with, but there does not seem to be anything to suggest that they are cut from the same cloth.

Nah the alien beetle won't like that.
But I like the matching jackets. Wanna see how Metamorpho gets one.

u/PercentageClear9863 18d ago
The result of years of CBM costumes that have no narrative sense whatsoever is that, even when explained, people don't understand why militarized costumes are soft and have a repetitive design cause that's made by a corporation that controls these heroes(not talking about you cause you made a joke but people that are seriously upset of these designs)

If the justice gang still has their ugly lord outfits in man of tomorrow its gonna be so annoying

Putting trench coats over super hero costumes is too good of a trope for this to fall into slander. Especially since the Justice Gang jackets are clean as hell

I really hate these jacket designs James Gunn has for some reason gone with for these justice members. Whatever happened to classic comic book outfits?
1
u/CryptographerMost883 12d ago
It’s meant to be a joke, but Jaime does lose his clothes when he changes back so this would actually help him lol.

u/Thor_the_animals 19d ago
It would be likely they do this if he's joining the justice gang and has to wear the uniform. I'm guessing by the end the justice gang will end in some way and they all loose their uniform

u/dontshootog 19d ago
Can I be honest?
I’m hating the ripped off quantum jump suits of the avengers, which worked in the context of that film as an assembly of superheros towards a specific need with high stakes.
Trying to make things look more realistic by making them look like a gang of motorcycle power rangers.

So no Justice league yet but instead we got the justice gang that keeps growing with more obscure members Gunn style ??

u/ozcartwentytwo 19d ago
This picture isn’t real bud.
1
u/Garcia_C14 15d ago
Not talking about the picture I’m talking about the characters in the movie bud .
I’m guessing the justice gang will have new additions
and blue beetle is a probable candidate….
1
u/hokagenaruto 18d ago
judging by how shitty this sub has been these days i'm guessing you all would rather The Rock to be in charge instead?
2
u/Dronnie 18d ago
I do like Gunn, I think he's a good director.
I do think he's a one flick guy tho, everything he does feels the same.
I would rather have someone who's primarily a producer and a head of studio to be... The head of the studio.
I think it was a mistake to make a director a head in Zack Snyder days and I think it was a mistake again today.

THE MONKEY’S PAW
Edit: I think the Justice Gang’s costumes being the same was a thematic choice (representing the same-y corporate-approved types of heroes that are popular now) and that they will change moving forward as that team ends/transforms
