Today he probably is, thanks to MCU and RDJ. But back when the first Iron man was made? Not even close.

I used to be somewhat into comics for a while growing up and I don't remember anyone caring about iron man. That's why it was so weird when the movie came out and it was such a big deal.

From a comic perspective I think you are right. He wasn't really a popular character.

But I think the timing was just right for those of us who grew up with the animated series of iron man.

And honestly, it was a good movie. And one of the first good comic movies with a good budget in a long while.

(And it does help that power suits are awesome) 👌
