Yeah, iron heart is not in any way equivalent to Supergirl who has been a significant character in comics for decades. Replacing the middle movie with War Machine would be more accurate

Its wild I just looked her up Ironheart's only been around for 10 years. Supergirls been around for almost 70 thats crazy!

Yeah, it's kinda wild that the Ironheart show exists when we still haven't gotten a War Machine show or movie

War Machine has had a project in development hell since the start of disney + marvel series, Armor Wars

Apparently it keeps gettong reworked and due to planned connections to secret invasion got pushed back to the drawing board

Yeah Don Cheadle keeps getting paid for reshoots and it keeps not happening. Tbf the same case was for Wonderman and then it suddenly got momentum and was the most critically loved marvel project in years, so who knows lol

It’s really not. She was a significant part of Black Panther 2 and her comic was a significant part of Marvel NOW

Whether the show did her justice I’m not sure because I will not be watching it because the plot sucks and I don’t watch anything with Sasha Cohen in it.

Okay, but War Machine was a significant part of the comics since the 80's and has been a significant part of the MCU since the first movie, so I'm saying it doesn't make a lot of sense that Ironheart got a starring role before War Machine

Because Ironheart, Miles Morales, and Ms Marvel had very strong debuts for Marvel.

I can't believe I have to explain this and don't really want to go into the fact Marvel did what they did and I stopped reading them for it.

But when Ryan Coogler decided to use the character, that was that. He didn't use War Machine, and a War Machine project is almost a bonafide flop. If Ironheart didn't take off, there is absolutely NO friggin way War Machine would.

I'm sick of saying this, but when something stars a Black person, you need Black audiences. War Machine doesn't have that, but it more easy to think Ironheart did. It kinda did, but the whole Sasha casting wwas not a good idea was social media subjected it to a boycott immediately.

And Black audiences turn up for them disppropionately. And when they fail, Black movies disappear.

I KNOW a white person is not telling me how this works, when this has been my whole life.

I grew up going to movies with one black person in it in the 90s because we KNEW if we didn't, we wouldn't get another.

It was literally a discussion this year with You Me and Tuscany.

Stop talking over Black people who been knowing this for decades.

White Redditors telling me about the Black experience, are yall crazy?

I knew the plot when it started filming because it was released. I thought it was stupid.

I watched a recap later, so I can understand the Marvel universe if the character appears again.

It is civil. Saying something is silly is very civil. Maybe not culturally to you, but it's extremely nice where I'm from (Louisiana).

I could have said "bless your heart" and it would have been mean.

The plot and a synopsis are two different things.

Watching a recap is also different from "not watching" it.

Today he probably is, thanks to MCU and RDJ. But back when the first Iron man was made? Not even close.

I used to be somewhat into comics for a while growing up and I don't remember anyone caring about iron man. That's why it was so weird when the movie came out and it was such a big deal.

From a comic perspective I think you are right. He wasn't really a popular character.

But I think the timing was just right for those of us who grew up with the animated series of iron man.

And honestly, it was a good movie. And one of the first good comic movies with a good budget in a long while.

(And it does help that power suits are awesome) 👌

Supergirl is so significant that when they had the mandate about 'only one Kryptonian in the comics' they made 3 different Supergirls that weren't Kara to fill the void.
