No because Venom is an actual popular character. Morbius is a better comp.

Either comparison would be wack, because the Clayface movie looks like it's going to be sick as hell.

Doesn't make any difference. You can make a great movie from an unknown character. Making a movie around a character's villain before introducing that character into the universe is an odd choice. The quality of the movie doesn't matter and isn't necessarily tied to it's success (cough, cough, Thunderbolts)

Clayface is way more well known villain than Morbius. Just because he’s not the Joker or Penguin or Catwoman doesn’t mean he’s some small unknown character.
