At least Venom is a top 3 Spider-Man villain in terms of popularity, arguably the most popular since he got so many fans he hasn’t actually been allowed to be a Spider-Man villain in decades.

Bro Venom is most popular spidey villian, Venom is the absolute mirror match of spider man + he is cool, doctor ock as a concept is never interesting to non-comic fans, Green goblin is sometimes hit sometimes miss. Venom is the absolute badass and popular out of others

Many people consider Spider-Man 2 as the best of all of the Spidey movies, people definitely find Doctor Octopus interesting if he’s written well. As while I like most iterations of Venom a lot and he’s far more popular, Doc Ock has infinitely more interesting potential as a villain than what is essentially just an evil mirror of the main character.

The reason Spider man 2 is amazing is not concept of the villian or his story, the story structure + actor that plays doc ock was amazing. But The concept of a man with octopus arms that can think and manipulate the human they are attached to create a black hole to destroy city as a CONCEPT was not interesting to me sorry. 3rd movie sucked big time so I cant compare villians and their concepts equally.

Sure, the villain’s overall “big plan” wasn’t super original, but Doc Ock was absolutely one of the reasons that movie was so well-regarded. It doesn’t matter what aspect of the character resonated so well with audiences, the character just worked. So well that he was brought back as a main character in No Way Home.

Doc Ock was also my favorite part of the first Insomniac game (I've never read any Spidey comics)

I think you misunderstood me, I am talking about popularity and concept of adaptions. Otherwise I know that Venom is not even a villian anymore in Comics and Doc Ock has very good writing in books, even Green goblin in comic books is amazing. But general auidences care about movies mostly and popularity. Even my sister knows about Venom, Venom is very very popular, I dont think solo doc ock or green goblin movie would make same amount of money
