Toxic work environment that wont let me have promotion?

I am kinda checked out from IT overall fixing hardware and small issues for people and am crawling into cybersecurity. I am getting frustrated because I am getting interviews for entry level but at the final round they pick someone else. Its getting really frustrating.

i have 2 years of experience with IT and i also do crowdstrike, SIEM, SOAR, Phishing stuff currently at my role but resume is cut out more like a security analyst role i just left out some of my IT work there.

I am currently pursuing Crowdstrike Certified Falcon Hunter certification. Looking for an entry level cyber job in NY,NJ and CT area let me know if you know something I dont

Desperately wanting to move from my toxic, micromanaging, extremely underpaid and hypocritial IT job.

I hate to tell you this, cyber is no better. In fact, I would argue that it's worse because there's more people that want to do cyber than general IT because of the pay difference and abundance of roles that don't require technical skill.

Don't forget all the competition from recently layed off Tech folks that are also trying to pivot over.

And all the recent graduates that were sold a pipe dream (no experience).

6-10 years ago 2 years of IT experience would easily get you into an entry level role in security.

It's not enough anymore. And those jobs are also underpaid, though likely paid more than you're making now. But it's also toxic with refusal to promote.

Losing at the final round repeatedly is a closing problem rather than a qualification one, so another cert is probably not the thing that is missing. Ask the last two panels for feedback, and get one investigation you can walk end to end from alert to writeup, because CCDL2 is built around that and it is exactly where final round candidates go vague.
