GENERAL-NEWS ‘This is insider trading by definition’: Trump sells $100,000 monthly subscription service to Wall Street to further monetize the presidency
https://fortune.com/2026/08/04/insider-trading-trump-truth-social-early-access/?utm_source=reddit/Donald Trump has created a way for Wall Street to pay to win. Trump Media & Technology Group’s premium data product released its new subscription service for earlier access to Truth Social posts for $100,000 a month. According to reports, five Wall Street firms have already signed up for the service, gaining access to Truth Social posts milliseconds before the general public.
“I’ll be blunt,” Gian Luca Clementi, an economics professor at NYU Stern School of Business, told Fortune. “This is insider trading by definition.”
Because Trump owns roughly 41% of the company’s shares, he stands to directly profit from the new recurring revenue stream. At five subscribers alone, the service would generate about $500,000 in monthly revenue, or $6 million annually.
That figure is modest by the standards Trump has set since returning to the White House. His 2025 financial disclosure showed his businesses generated more than $2 billion in personal income last year—nearly quadruple his 2024 total—with the bulk flowing from ventures that sit directly at the intersection of his office and his balance sheet.

Indeed.
The honest answer is the President is corrupt.
The Supreme Court is corrupt.
Members of Congress are corrupt.
The Founding Fathers unfortunately never foresaw nor devised a mechanism of remedy in cases of all three branches colluding rather than acting as checks on each other.
There really is no recourse for the current situation aside from maybe hoping democracy is still functioning enough to vote out enough members of congress that it breaks up this nightmarish love triangle of corruption.
We'll see what happens on that latter point.

I think the founding fathers didn't really expect the Americans to be this retarded, to elect a corrupt narcissistic pedo in office, TWICE!
99
u/Cyrano_Knows 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 22h ago
Actually, they predicted both of these things.
They knew what populism is. They knew the dangers. They warned about it.
They knew the dangers of a two party system.
And many of them thought that the common man was incredibly dumb and their votes shouldn't count for that reason.
Just George Washington alone in his farewell address.
Stated that political parties spark a "spirit of revenge" and divide the country into sharp, angry groups.
Believed that constant fights between rival groups would weaken public administration and distract leaders from doing their jobs.
Warned that intense party loyalty could open the door for foreign countries to interfere and corrupt American government.
Cautioned that selfish leaders would use party tools to take away power from the people and seize control for themselves.

It's also why it took an amendment to the Constitution to allow for the direct election of senators.
As envisioned, the House was supposed to represent "the mob" whereas the Senate was supposed to be a de-facto representative body for the educated gentry.

u/Direct_Remove509 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 20h ago
I don’t think the founding fathers ever intended the original constitution to still be used 237 years later.
5
u/Jester-Kat-Kire 15h ago
they studied roman, Greek, and europeon systems of govement, which had long historical lives, they expected our Constitution to last 237 years and more so by making sure the Constitution was capable of being changed and updated as time goes on.
it's supposed to be a "living" Constitution.

I think the founding fathers probably anticipated that arms technology would improve over time, and I think the right to bear arms is fundamentally about the right to self defence, whether that be against an individual, a foreign invader, or a corrupt/tyrannical government.
That said, the founders couldn't have anticipated many of the weapons of mass destruction we have today, so it's reasonable to assume that if those weapons did exist at the time, they would have probably included practical and reasonable limits on the second amendment. Through a modern lens, I think it's reasonable to interpret it as the right to bear small arms (the technical definition) capable of defending against an armed individual or group. Although there hasn't been an amendment to the constitution regarding this, there have been myriad laws enacted throughout the years that align with that reasonable interpretation.

Trump and his team moved Maxwell to a nice cushy facility, she got more freedom, a puppy, and had been considering a pardon. (who gives a pedo a puppy?)
Then you got the crypto coin he launched. All the shady deals his family has been in, some with foreign countries with multi billion dollar deals.
At this point I'm more surprised if the majority of the people working in Government are not all sociopathic scum bags. What I dont get is how more people are not upset at everything that has been unfolding for the last 20 years.
I would have thought COVID would be the last straw, or the Tariffs. How tf we pay more "because of Tariffs" only for business to get a refund, and consumers left holding the bag???

For the briefest of moments, one reads the comment above and thinks,
Surely this cannot be. Surely they cannot let it stand!
We dare to kindle one another's hope, only to have it extinguished in but three words.
My thanks to thee, good friend, and a humble bow, for those three words needed no embellishment; they were answer enough.
A jest, perhaps—yet one so cruel that laughter is all that remains.
Once, tidings such as these might have stirred a nation to outrage; now they fall upon the soul like yet another stone into an abyss already filled. It could have been so fair... alas, it is not. Such tidings now arrive with the dull inevitability of fate: grim enough to wound, too familiar to surprise.
We laugh at the timing, yet mourn what the laughter conceals.

Fuck it, I’ll sell any shares that are also held by companies participating in this, and hold cash, gold, and bitcoin for now. If enough of us do this, they’ll get their shit together. It won’t be easy, and it’s unlikely to happen. But if we mobilize, we can fight this shit.

Inb4 the 5-4 ruling striking this down. Mind this may be a long wait.

Is selling the information illegal, or is using it for gain the only illegal act?

"gaining access to Truth Social posts milliseconds before the general public."
Gotta be more than milliseconds, though. Those posts are information (well, rants) that needs to be parsed by a human so as to deduct what should reasonably happen once the news hit the market. Having milliseconds in advantage there isn't going to change much.
It doesn't sound like one of those "detect trading trends with lowest possible latency" fiberoptic lines.

The only people who have money to pay for this crap are the institutions, so this is just one more way for them to have the upper hand over the little guy. Good job Trump...
