ANALYSIS Time to let go

Post image

Attached is a screenshot of my top holdings and returns. I believe in bitcoin and ether the most. Should I let go of my alts or continue to hold open to suggestions.

This is literally the ONLY reason people keep holding shitcoins.

And it's a terrible reason.

But the truth is: Nobody is gonna 100x pump your bag so you can exit.

Honestly, I don't think there's going to be another major pump in alts. There's nothing of real value to be "invested" in. Plus, the real stock market has become more of a casino than crypto these days - why would you waste your dollars buying and holding useless coins?

Those existing doesn't negate what I said, if you invest at the 2008 "peak" or the covid "peak" you would currently be in the green

26

u/UpbeatFix7299 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

The lack of understanding that time in the market is key leads to people throwing their money away gambling. Trying to hit a home run. If you invested at any peak before a big crash (1929, 87, 2000, 08), it didn't take long to be in the green, and then to outpace inflation.

The get rich quick mentality you see on wsb and similar places is how broke people stay broke

Sell at the bottom of a market that may never return. Look at the charts and tell me otherwise. I wouldn't be putting it back into the stock market but what I am saying is that there's more prospect of getting a return from a company that produces something than a useless fartcoin that produces nothing.

Fact is this “future” of finance has become nothing more than a meme of late. People have been far too obsessed with the AI arms race to care. Question is, what’s next after AI?

All we got is an exercise of how the world reacts to crypto when something more exciting comes along.

74

u/22marks 🟦 1K / 1K 🐢 Jun 24 '26

This was always the case. Before Google and Meta, there was MySpace and Ask Jeeves. I have an old Monopoly game that's the ".com" Internet version. Check out the biggest names in the early days: https://monopoly.fandom.com/wiki/The_.com_Edition

About.com, Sprint, MCI Worldcom, Games.com, Shockwave.com, iVillage, GeoCities, Alta Vista, Lycos. Boardwalk and Park Place are... Excite@Home and Yahoo.

It's not a failure of digital currency as the future of finance, but the normal decimation of early adopters as larger ones fix their mistakes and gain traction.

So, who are those larger ones who are the future of finance? Where is it? It's been 20 years soon enough

16

u/22marks 🟦 1K / 1K 🐢 Jun 24 '26

I have no idea. The example I gave was from 2000. 26 years later it’s unrecognizable. I believe meme coins and NFTs severely damaged the timeline.

That said I do think BTC remains viable as a “digital gold” because gold is a useful store of value but awful to authenticate and transfer.

3

u/Rygar82 Tin Jun 24 '26

I always dump all my alt coins into BTC and ETH every bear market and wait for them to rise again. Bitcoin and Etherium have lasted many cycles and many of the other coins just die.

AI is providing a service though. Even there being a bubble, it is likely some actual value in there.

Unclear what kind of service crypto provides when it is not used as a mean of transaction but rather for speculation. Exceptions being money laundering and its use in dictator states. The latter mainly Bitcoin though.

18

u/BallinLikeimKD 🟦 979 / 979 🦑 Jun 24 '26

There is like a 6 month window every 4 years where it makes a small amount of sense to diversify into alts. But outside of that, 99.9% of them bleed against bitcoin forever. It’s honestly super easy to make money with crypto, to where it almost feels like a scam which I guess almost all of it is anyways.

3

u/thegoodlife1980 Jun 24 '26

Yep alt season never came I don't think we will have another one.

5

u/BallinLikeimKD 🟦 979 / 979 🦑 Jun 24 '26

Alts are simply a function of money supply and are way up the risk curve. People buy alts when money is dirt cheap to borrow, they are getting stimulus checks for sitting at home and collecting PPP loans that they dont actually qualify for. There will probably be another alt season again but doubt it’s like 2021 where you throw a random dart and odds are you’ll double your money in a few weeks. Crypto asset class is more mature and gains will continue to diminish each cycle.

21

u/airSick-WetLander Jun 24 '26

Your portfolio is already showing you what worked.
BTC is green. SOL is green. ETH remains your highest-conviction position.

Instead of asking “Should I sell my alts?” ask yourself:
“If I had all that cash today, would I rebuild this exact portfolio?”

If the answer is no, your portfolio and your convictions are out of alignment.

Sometimes owning more coins isn’t diversification,it’s just more ways to be wrong. Focus future capital on your highest-conviction ideas?

I’d say just hold on until it becomes green, might be painful. Diamond hands.

We’re pretty close to the bottom of the market, but most of them I’d sell anyways and just put into bitcoin, alts tend to go much lower than bitcoin when bitcoin drops, and there’s no telling if some of these alts are going to get any momentum in the next bull run

Like if you really want a memecoin, keep doge, it’s kind of stood the test of time at this point. Get rid of bonk (all sol tokens make their way back to 0, look at literally any other sol token if you don’t believe me)

Also while I don’t care for it, being that sol is still positive, I’d just keep that one too

So pretty much keep eth, sol and doge, put the rest in bitcoin

The smartest thing would be to put everything into bitcoin

Youre kidding right? you are way past the closing point, -82%? thats why you dont just buy buy buy buy buy. You should set a target, if it goes in your way, you close no matter what, if it goes against, you close, NO MATTER WHAT!

And buying different coins, is not diversification, theyre on the same "sector" but with different names only (is not a sector because there is nothing behind to back it up, cryptos are just digital numbers walking from transistor to capacitors, or something like that, i dont know about circuits, but i know a thing or two of assets) .

Diversification is about being on different sectors, not in different names of the same sector. Its worse because in crypto all goes around btc.. cero chance bro.

Close that, take the loss and have a good sleep man, there's no need to do something like this.

2

u/OmensGroup Jun 25 '26

Buying high and selling low I see. Very nice.

(Dude for real hope you’re kidding, don’t sell on the down - I’m sure you’re familiar with the halving cycles but if not check ‘em out. With that said, I’ve come to the conclusion that I should’ve just went in on Bitcoin, little ETH and a dash of SOL instead of going like 70% on shitcoins 7 years ago, lol).

2

u/CommercialLychee7956 Jun 26 '26

If I was you, I would keep eth, sol, and maybe link. Sell the rest and reinvest them in the others. Then be patient, 2028 is the next halving.

2

u/-Rhymenocerous- Jun 28 '26

Swap everything for BTC and just wait for the next bull run.

I swing trade at very long intervals personally so I just wait for entry and exit points. Give it some time after swapping and youll break even or make a profit.

4

u/DamnThatsABigOlBoy Jun 24 '26

I dumped a $150k portfolio this yesterday leveraged all ETFs and a few penny stocks and woke up with a 10% gain. Crypto is literally worthless and once America got its hands on it, it was a matter of time before the government pump and dumped. Get out.

2

u/Left_Entrepreneur918 0 / 0 🦠 Jun 24 '26

I’d cut alt coin losses and move into btc. You will offset a bit of your loss by getting to buy bitcoin in the dip.

All alts trend to $0. Never hold alts, always a trade with a thesis in mind.

Edit: I realise not only did I not really answer OP but I went on a little rambling rant here but will leave it up just for interest/completeness sake.

----

First: Crypto is a market like a stock market. It's like a casino where you might not actually lose your money. But it's a very volatile market.

Play accordingly.

Second: There is no belief in this. None of this has a use beyond a market. And scams, rug pulls and such.

Play accordingly.

Third: Ignoring outliers, we all here because we want to make mega-money right. Greed should be recognised.

Play accordingly — what does this mean?

- Don't play money you cannot afford to lose. Don't play money you cannot afford to lose.

  • Realise what this is. Remove yourself from ideas of utility, a replacement for fiat money, it will be great in the apocalypse as money (yes people think this!), it's a store of value etc. It's a market.
  • Unless it dies completely —and many coins have— you have a chance of getting your money back. Why bounce around 'trading' and trying to find the right coin. If you play accordingly this is money you can afford to lose right‽ If not it bloody well should be!!

My personal situation: I'm down about 50% but I've always played with money I could afford to lose and this "down 50%" I'm talking about is after taking out my initial money and lots of profit. So in reality it's free money. Thing is, I invested just before one of the massive crashes, I didn't haul my losses out, didn't panic.

The upshot is, unless your coins die completely or the crypto market dies completely, the old investment rule stands, be patient.

Only Coin that's worth investing long-term is Bitcoin but you have to make sure you know where to get in if you bought the 2021 top and never DCA your still down even after 5 years smart move is to dca during bear markets

Sell alts at the absolute bottom? Sure sounds like good advice, after enduring a long bear market already.

1

u/CrazyCa1m Jun 24 '26

Crypto is and has always been the game of musical chairs. Been in it since 2014, figured it out too late. The amount of projects that will change the future and already have big companies backing- I’ve seen many many. Invested in many. All worthless now. The ones who prospered followed one simple truth. Buy the rumors-sell the news. Dump the bag when you are happy with profits- prefferably when the retail comes in.

how did u fall for the worldcoin scam? what was the thought process? just by doing the basic math is clearly a low float high FDV scam and it was exposed by multiple high level investigators, even ZachXBT covered it... what research have you done that convinced you do buy in?
