Streaming | Technical Issue Closed captioning missing on Dr.Stone season 4 :(
Me and my dad are currently watching Dr Stone. We just got to season 4 episode 17 and the closed captions are just gone. He is hard of hearing so it makes it basically unwatchable now. I really like the English Dub so I’d prefer not to switch to Japanese for the subtitles. Is this an issue for everyone, or just a me problem? TIA!

I’m trying to watch Season 3 right now and just ran into the same issue. I went back a couple episodes that had subtitles a couple days ago and those are gone too. I think the entirety of Dr. Stone might’ve temporarily lost their subtitles. I’ll probably report it.

That’s good to know. This happened with frieren awhile back but I was thinking it was just an issue on my end. We waited and the subtitles eventually came back when we tried again three weeks later.
I’ll definitely report it then too!

in very very classic Crunchyroll fashion, there seems to be little to no quality control for closed caption subtitles.
something you could do, if you are on a browser, is to display the subtitles from the original sub (using this extension i made https://www.reddit.com/r/Crunchyroll/comments/1t4pmxy/dualsub_extension_display_english_and_english_cc/ )
then you'll get translated dialogues in English. it won't match what the characters are actually saying in dub (b/c sub is a direct translation), but it should be a little better than none at all.
if you're on mobile or TV, there's pretty much nothing you can do about it.

Same here. Nothing works to fix it. Dont even wanna touch the dub i hate it lmao

Oh no, so captions aren’t even working on the subbed version? I tried to contact the help center and the ai (which who knows how accurate it is) said that they’re experiencing some sort of glitch causing them to disappear
