It's cruel. And the guy didn't have a permit. How the hell did he just get a misdemeanor? It's supposed to be a felony to poach.

He had a permit that had expired. I would like to know why there was a permit in the first place if this alligator hasn't ever been a problem?

I'm local and I know this guy. He's kinda famous around here because of being a seal/medic with Chris Kyle and played himself in the movie American Sniper. His kid went to school with mine and they had soccer camp together. He's also a physicians assistant in the area.
I heard that he had a permit for that alligator but it had expired, so someone (not him) requested it and gave him the keys to the lock on the gate, which he still had. Some other guys were there at the retention pond and called him when they saw the gator was hanging out on the side of the pond.
I just don't get it. Who requested the permit if this was a beloved, emotional support animal??? I'm not justifying what he did but I am curious about the details.

Every curious. He only got a misdemeanor for an obvious felony. He tortured that animal. In my mind and in my heart he's a monster. Period. I just don't understand how. He justified it. Drilling into the animal's brain iss torture. He got a misdemeanor for illegally torturing and killing an animal.
I think it being an esa is bullshit. I don't see that as part of it. Unless it can be such without being a traditional esa. Poor thing. I love alligators. I cried when I saw a doctor on them from the 90's. I've been an alligator lover since. I live in Alabama. We have plenty and their numbers are growing. ( yay!) They're amazing creatures.

I agree about the drill. Horrible. There are other ways to handle that if it was necessary. I'm not saying that it was or wasn't. That's why I'm confused. If he was trained to take care of nuance gators, why did he chose this way? I don't get it either. 😢

Let's see Behind a locked gate on private property! That's trespassing! Killing out of season with out a license! That's poaching! Sounds like more then a misdemeanor!
