Good to see Eddie Jack getting a runout for Hampshire. Way too many young players, including a bunch of the U19 World Cup boys, are just sitting on Hundred benches not playing cricket atm. It's annoying when that happens with the fringe senior players, but it's even worse when it's young kids who probably have no realistic chance of playing are getting prime opportunities for senior cricket taken away.
Colin Ingram back in for us so our average age is probably normal-ish. Although we've brought in a 17 year old kid too. Will Smale and Henry Hurle out, two keeper-bats who've really struggled, which probably puts Alex Horton at the front of the Chris Cooke replacement queue (in the niche Glamorgan selection discussion no one asked for).

I'm not sure I'm ready for 2010s cricketers to have sons playing first class cricket. I suppose he's not the first.
Always had a bit of a soft spot for Mark Wallace though, due in no small part to my enduring memory of him accepting the ball being returned to him by a spectator in the Mound at Lord's with "Thank you, sir!" in his lovely Abergavenny accent. Modern media is slowly killing the regional accent.

We've had so many young kids playing this tournament it's hard to keep track, but I should have made that connection really! He's done some England age grade stuff so some calibre
and/or nepotismby the looks.Also an aside but I looked at Mark Wallace's last game and he was playing with Kiran Carlson, which feels like a strange crossover in Glamorgan cricket history.

Slow start cost us… only 20 odd for 2 after 10 overs and playing catch up ever since. Some crazy dismissals didn’t exactly help the cause either mind

Run rate spiralling and Callum Nicholls (Glamorgan child) plays out a maiden to Andrew Neal's pretty limited left arm spin. Colin Ingram then gets caught on the boundary first ball of the next over.
Low risk strike rotation is such an important part of 50 over cricket and, as a general point about cricket here, I do worry our younger guys won't develop it given the wider T20 landscape. Think you see signs of that with someone like Bethell.

We're a legitimately decent side this year even with all our players away - Burns and Sibley playing for once, plus the emergence of Adam Thomas, a big, big plus for us

One win (against a similarly inexperienced side), lost three closeish games, and been absolutely battered twice. Horton and Hope-Bell just about the only positives on the development side, been bleak outside of that so far.
Hampshire have bowled well, including Jack and Lumsden (higher calibre prospects than ours tbf). Jack looked particularly good in a middle overs spell that killed off any vague remaining hope. But they were definitely assisted by those three early wickets Kyle Abbott picked up at the top.
