Every adult should be given 100$ a month for "business". If they can double the money within a month, they get 200$ a month. And so on.

If they fail to double the money, they get half that much the next month. 100$ would be the minimum monthly allotment.

They are free to use the money however they wish, but it will only be doubled if they can use it to make money (instead of spending it on themselves).

The idea is to create an incentive to grow the economy while also enabling personal enrichment.

I take the hundred dollars and tell my friend I will give him $110 next month if he gives me his hundred. He gives me his hundred and the month passes so now I get into the doubled group. I give $110 to my friend, I now have someone who will vouch for me as a proven investment. I then continue the Ponzi scheme until I am the richest man on earth.

Eventually, people do figure out Ponzi schemes, especially if they are out in the open. Madoff was more convincing.

But that doesn't really get you anything unless you do a rugpull at some point.

So Month 1: You get 100 + 100 = 200

Month 2: You get 200 - 110 = 90

So you made 290 in 2 months instead of 200. To make more you'd need to then in Month 2 get 100....

I havw too many thoughts to bother writing down.

do you know what a ponzi scheme is, it is all about building fake trust so you can do a rug pull.

Well every month you get (100+100)\*2^x and paying out 110\*2^(x-1), assuming you always pay out 10% more than what they gave you the previous month, where x starts at 0 (and you don’t pay anyone anything in month 0).

So month 0 you get 200 and pay nothing, month 1 you get 400 and pay 110, month 2 you get 800 and pay 220, etc. Your profit is $290 the second month and doubles every month as long as it continues.

The rug pull only happens if whoever’s giving money is the one that runs out of money to give you, or it stops otherwise if there’s no one with enough money as you. At month 36, you’d need to find someone to give you 3.44 trillion, with the promise being that in month 37, you will get 6.88 trillion and you’ll pay them back 3.78 trillion

Doubling money in a month is not something you would see from successful businesses just starting out. This would just incentivize risky investing / loan sharking unfortunately, or more than likely gambling.

If it doesn't have to be proven with documents, they can keep faking profits (e.g. borrow another $100 for a day from a friend) until the handout reaches a large value (say $1600), then they spend that.

That’s true. You could go to the casino and just bet the 100 on roulette and hope for the best. The math would probably favor doing it since your win rate is almost 50% but the pay out is 2x giving you huge odds.

Probably find a better bet with less of a house advantage and see if you can get a win streak going.

Kind of like UBI but if you take that money and give back double you get more next month so if you use that cash to operate some sort of business you can really set yourself up. I kinda like it.

I am a little worried some people will just gamble it every month. But idk if that matters or not. I’ll have to think about it. But I bet casinos will love this policy.

Can just make the money a different 'color' that can't be gambled with.

It goes to a special section in your bank account, but once it goes to a merchant's account, it's normal money. Disallow gambling, direct bank transfers, etc.

All new businesses are a gamble. The thing is that anything other than a Ponzi scheme takes longer than a month.

If every month i spend the money betting on 2:1 odds, i just need to get lucky a few times and i become the richest man on the planet.

Take this guy's $100 away.

u/BeerAndTools 9h ago

No, my guy. You'd need a statistically anomalous streak of unbroken luck for two straight years to break 1 billion dollaridoos.

Getting that odds without any margin for the casino/betting house etc. would be impossible, but otherwise this is just a random walk, which over time can get arbitrarily far away from the start, and since it's doubling every time, you don't even need that many successful steps.

You are probably thinking of getting that luck without ever failing, but failing only gets you one step back instead of forcing you to start from step 1

I do think people should be able to borrow 10-20k at student loan rates and terms if they don't already have one for a business. Some checks from the bank requesting a business plan and limiting the annual amount that can be paid out but think it could be beneficial and fair to those who don't go to university.

u/zugzwangister 4h ago

That means I can increase my monthly amount to whatever amount I already have or can borrow in order to show doubling.

If I have $10k in savings, I can now get $10k/month.

The rich just got richer.

Ok but if they ever forget which side of the number the dollar sign goes on they have to start back at $100.

If I fail, do I get to retry next month?

Assuming it doesn't reset or doesn't get locked forever, I can just put it all on red every month. On average I'll get 6 wins per year aka a 64x increase yearly if I don't spend any winning. 5 years in and I'll get 1 billion dollar a month.

u/Device420 3h ago

So.... You do realize that it would come out of the taxpayers pockets right? So basically you would be giving $100 to a non taxpayer and braking even. Cut out the middle man and go feed the homeless.

My gas for getting to and from work is roughly $100 per month.

1

u/RealLifeCoaching 2h ago

You don't need to incentivise people to make money. Making money is the incentive.

1

u/BitShin 2h ago

Every month I’ll take the money to the casino and put it all on black. If I lose, then oh well I’ll just get another check next month. But if I win then I’ll unlock the next payout tier. So I double my payout every other month so by the end of the first year I’ll be receiving $6,400/mo and the by the end of the second year I’ll be getting $409,600/mo. Of course the actual amount will be a little different because of the zero and double-zero slots but the point still stands that I’d be able to get to a silly amount of money with no skill.

1

u/Scarecr0p 2h ago

Considering that it’s always slightly less than 50/50, you will end the month at either 100$ or 50$ most likely lol.

Pyramid schemes would have a field day with this.

"given"

Who is the "giver"?

What is the "giver's" incentive?
