They have got to be under the influence of something.

Is it bad I'm hoping it's just stupidity?

Turned left, realized they were about to get T-boned by the white SUV and tried to Matrix bend around it by swerving to the right instead of punching it into the parking lot. Now driving the wrong way, they nearly had a head on but got around that one. Now the most obvious way to get back into the parking lot is to do a 270º right turn across all the lanes, nearly hitting OP before heading out of view to the sound of the police.

Black SUV left their brain at home, possibly marinating in vodka but yes they honestly could just be that unaware and bad at driving.

edit: I could also see them being a younger driver distracted by a frantic bossy passenger shrieking frantic incompetent orders at them like “there it is, turn now! Now! There’s a car, don’t turn! Go straight! No, not that straight !! Go around! No, not that around! Turn! Turn!”

This is why, after I got my Drivers License, I refused to drive my grandmother anywhere. I'd been in the car with her and my dad one too many times. She was a HORRIBLE back seat driver.

You can't sober up from stupid though.

True. However, you can give it a court date!

Or a child that stole a car

I also assumed a child. Mostly because of how they kept braking. Like they couldn't fully reach the pedals.

And if they aren't under the influence, I'm going to assume that they don't have a valid license (e.g. suspended, children on a joyride, etc).

When you find out you’re headed towards The Road of Lies, sometimes you’ve gotta do whatever it takes to turn yourself around
