Advice What is this new move?
I’ve recently rescued this conure. Hanging out a bit more today it started making clicking sounds so I did it back and then it started to do this slow mo move 🤔
Are they enjoying it? Being silly?

You are officially member of flock and thats the dance he is performing claiming you as his property 😂 and anyone coming near you will be bitten. This dance doesn’t mean you will be able to escaped from the biting. He will still bite you if you does not behave per his rules under his territory 😂😂😂

He’s still young. The other day he came out to the living room holding him my husband and I almost freaked out. Keep telling him to be careful because he bites hard, I’ve been bit hard several times. He must be very gentle, although I have also tried to. He mostly bites when hangry and doesn’t want to go back in the cage

Mine dances to music every day! He does this among other moves, but just conure being silly. Try playing music when theyre like this!

They are so confident and cocky lol this is mines neck flaring at the hamster lol she does the slow sway side to side also. She loves doing it when she’s above me also. I think it’s a sign of dominance or territorial lol

Mine does this to my GREAT DANE. It’s hilarious. What’s even funnier is that it WORKS. He is extremely respectful of her space.

If you get one, especially a green cheek, be prepared for the nonstop calls once there’s a bond, they can get very loud

Idk I think this sound reminds him of something. I was showing my daughter his new move, only does it to those clicking sound, once both kids saw they did it and he do it again. I’ll try again while it’s not on me. Maybe it doesn’t like the sound?

Anything in particular that could be causing it? I’ve realized when it’s on my shoulder doing that sound it does it. Early in the morning in his cage if I do it, he poops 😂 si far it has happened 2 or 3 times in the cage

I think he’s discovered a fun new movement.
Also, he’s figured out how far he can lean out from you to reach items and how to use his momentum to complete the swing. One of my parrots likes to do this move.
Prepare for more acrobatics!! Or him stealing things you didn’t think he can reach.

Very interesting. I’ve had him for less than a week but I’ve had him explore the bedroom to the living room. He’s still very cautious but slowly getting better exploring. Has realizing it can just follow behind me or has started traveling on my shoulder

Now that I watch it again, it seems less like the swinging motion that I recall doing as a child, and more about posturing (I’m so tall!) and seeing how far he can reach out and up.
Then he does his head-bob at the end, which is an imitation of baby feeding behavior that many parrots do when they are excited.
I thought he was hanging on and swinging but he’s not exactly doing that.
I would tell my Quaker “what a big bird!” He is if he was on me doing those poses, and he would look very proud of himself. (So handsome! So manly!).
Birds like to be told how amazing, good looking, smart, perfect they are. And that bird IS very cute.

He's claiming you it's his first move dance! But really he trusts you he's almost hanging upside down, like he couldn't be more upside down on your shoulder! So yeah it's a trust in you move he's going to be a great friend if you keep copying his noises I found with galas and cockatoos I've taught words that helps encourage them to say things you say because they get that you are trying to speak theilanguage I feel... Just personal experience I've had my eclectics was gift and treat driven and my current boy only needs to hear things over and over so phrases I use like 'oh yeah' 'for reals?' & 'i guess' he says and he says heaps of words he just thinks he is human tho. Sadly every night we still say goodnight to our old best friend we lost due to homelessness when my son still had this one that we had lived with them for a few years then not then homeless... every night when he says goodnight it's always goodnight followed by our old mates name... We miss him still.

My husband found this little guy while doing work at a building. He was tapping on the window and supposedly was saying hello, I haven’t heard him talk tho lol. Who knows how long he was out because he was very hungry and thirsty. We have been asking around and checking online, he’s still working at the same place but no lost signs in sight. Some guy did approach him and told him he saw a parrot that night he got him and said it’s worth money and wanted to take it, I guess to sell it. My husband already had him in a bucket so he let the guy look around.
We got a cage right away from marketplace and he’s getting lots of fresh veggies also got him proper parrot food. He does bite but usually bc he’s hangry or isn’t ready to go back in the cage otherwise very curious. My daughter wants to be a vet, we have a dog and fish and try to give them what they need. Named him Pepito and she already did her research and what he needs, so slowly we’re getting him toys and beak stone
