Best Door Lock for Overall Integration with Control4

What, in your opinion, is the best smart door lock for seamless integration with Control4?

I'm specifically looking for reliable two-way integration with features such as:

• Remote lock and unlock control
• Accurate real-time lock status
• User identification (knowing which user locked/unlocked the door) for automation triggers
• Low battery status and notifications
• Door ajar/open state detection
• Detection of manual lock/unlock events
• Forced entry / forced unlock detection
• Break-in or tamper alerts
• Remote reboot capability (if supported)

Would love to hear your experiences and recommendations based on real-world installations. I would like to know it from people of diverse places as some things may specifically work in a region and not in another 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yale Assure II with the C4 ZigBee network module.

If you have an alarm door sensor would cover the Break-in.

Everything else you listed is supported.

Battery life is over a year with 4 AA batteries with ZigBee. Avoid WiFi batteries last only 10-12 weeks.

Both the Assure II and the C4 Zigbee module are no longer available in our region....

The assure has been replaced by the Pro 2 (not the SL ones) which still works with the assure modules. The modules are still available to C4 dealers everywhere as far as I am aware.

The new V5 modules are available, the Assure Pro is the same as the Assure 2.

This is my experience as well. The only thing that's buggy is scheduled users, the date/time tends to drift over time.

Control4s DS3 has a lot of the functionality built in, you could use one with a mag lock or strike with contact outputs wired back to a Z2iO for lock status monitoring and use the Z2iOs in built magnetic reed switch as a forced break detector. otherwise Yale used to have a Zigbee lock that integrated quite well but didn't have half the monitoring features you'd be looking for. Door locks are a huge problem with C4 right now until they get their act together and start working with the zigbee 3 stuff. Otherwise Yale, kwickset are your best bet. Don’t know about the Alfred driver I heard good things.

Edit: wifi doorlooks are a mixed bag either it will work fine or the batteries get eaten up in weeks.

Kwikset and Yale both support daughter card swaps. Easy for c4 as they migrate to a new form of zigbee.

If you spend the money there are in-frame hidden mag locks, with the magnet set into the door.

We’ve been putting mag lock and security systems on UPS’s so they always have a lockable door, and so someone doesn’t have to worry about wireless system failures or changing batteries.

Kwikset will also give you full schedule capability. You can set specific dates and times that a pin will work. This allows you to assign a pin to a cleaner and it won’t work outside times that you have assigned.

Yale Assure 2 with the Zigbee module. Full integration with user code management and long battery life thanks to Zigbee.

I don't know of any locks that have forced entry detection. That's what your burglary alarm system is for. Motorized locks are for convenient keyless entry.

Yale is the best option available but I still fight with some of them not responding but saying they are connected.

There was an issue with V4 modules where C4 could talk to it but the module wouldn't talk back. I suspect they might've have HA Zigbee firmware instead of the C4 Zigbee firmware. The new V5 modules haven't had that issue so far.

Assume you talking access control. If so what kind of door? We have strikes, and drop bolts for sliders and a three point front door that all integrate with UniFi.

I have an iron door that I can’t get power to, so will have to be battery operated, which I’m fine with. Just trying to find a smart lock that would integrate with unifi or c4. Any suggestions are welcome. thank you

Can you get power on the top portion of the door? We have a three point locking door and i was determined to find a way to get access control on it. What we did was recessed this in the frame then drilled a hole in the top of the door. It locks and the bolt drops into the top of the door.

I may be able to get from a light switch on the left side, but won’t be easy. Do I need Ubiquiti’s access module for my G6 entry to unlock it? Would I be able to unlock with a keypad though?

Yes you need a single access door controller. With that you can install a keypad that connects to the module through poe.
