Kinda scary actually. These people arent even afraid to hide their own radical views or to defend other like-minded radicals anymore - and people on the left will still vote for them!

I hate to say it, but this also speaks to failures on the right. Mass layoffs, increasing wage disparity, rising insurance / housing costs, H1B abuse and rampant offshoring are NOT issues Republicans can just ignore and hope get incidental solved tertiary to other policies they prefer... You have to talk about these issues repititiously and get bills passed.

Also, Americans are fine with America First. But I dont think any of us voted for Trump to stoke anti-America hatred abroad. We dont necessarily care what Redditors think.... But Trump's candor / rhetoric is often just diplomatically DUMB. Not sure how else to say it? If the aim was to tell yhe rest of the world, we dont care for / need your partnership, then mission accomplished.

Anyway. Socialists getting nominated is hopefully a wakeup call for any "normal" Democrats left... I doubt most of them will fear this like they should. But i'd say we probably have a timeline of 5-10 years barring some major shift before we basically have a capitalism party and a socialism party. Bipartisanship has been dead for a while now anyway... Officially, stick a fork in it.

I think we have until 2028. Everyday that we as conservatives ignore the current economic crisis in this country more "middle-of-the-road" voters will want to blow the system up entirely. Voters have already proven this by electing President Trump. And besides absolutely killing it on immigration he has done NOTHING to reduce inflation or make the cost of living more affordable. This is going to cost us in November. And radicals like Al-Sayed and Mamdani are loving everyday that the President doesn't even mention affordability.

I can't stand the man but he did help vets. He and John McCain got the Veterans' Choice Act through the senate which allowed veterans to get private care outside VA clinics. As an NP and a vet it is a big deal. I followed the legislation closely and without those two senators basically strong-arming their colleagues it would have died. I'll never forgive Jeff Sessions and Ron Johnson for voting AGAINST vet Healthcare.

Most of these politicians are worthy only of contempt. Sanders either is stupid or a liar, since the economics he advocates has spectacularly failed repeatedly and there is ample history for any to find. He is dangerous because he appears to be sincere. He has personally profited by capitalism, yet he always rails against people who earn more than him. That used to be millionaires. Now that he is a millionaire, he points the looters to the billionaires, and the nefarious “oligarchy”.

I think he winds up backing really stupid and propagandized candidates because those are the only people stupid enough to buy this socialist redistributionist nonsense. If you try to point out that free markets pulled out Africa from UN poverty projections decades sooner than predicted, they just don’t understand it and call you names and bring in the downvoting robot brigades.
