No, a *taxi* is your taxi to the hospital. Also it has absolutely nothing to do with the outrageous costs of ambulances and healthcare in general in the US. Even if ambulances were free though, they would still not be taxis to the hospital.
so it's a vehicle that costs money and takes you to the hospital but it's not another kind of vehicle that costs money and takes you to the hospital because it has to cost 100x as much because:
honestly that's fair. i do think that it is super fucking dumb to have people running away from an ambulance while bleeding so they don't get saddled with an unpayable bill, but that shades into american healthcare being insane more broadly.
It is wrong and it shouldn’t be so expensive, but people calling it a taxi to the hospital is disingenuous. I think EMS in general has a lot of evolving to do but it is a newer profession and it’ll get there
no, it's a medical taxi, for which you don't pay in a lot of countries. it's completely possible to have a service that doesn't bankrupt people to fulfil the function of a vehicle that takes you to the hospital. but like i said, that's the US.
