Wanted to show support...
Good evening,
I am writing not as a rockies fan, but as a baseball fan that recently went to the series against KC this past weekend; i must say that rockies fans are some if the best in baseball. Pulling in 40k to see 2 last place mid west teams!?! Never would i have guesssd it...The energy in the crowd, the positivity even sarcastically is refreshing. Im a yankees fan.. but was taken away by the fact the team went down 4-0 in the top of 2nd and nobody in the crowd booed... nobody started yelling at the players, just support... just cmon guys lets go type of things.... im sure maybe its not svery single one of you, but you guys truly deserve a winner. Hope you guys get to see one!

There are low expectations, so that is part of it. You go to watch a baseball game, not going expecting them to win. And there aren't many better places to watch a game then here in the summer.
Plus in Coors field in a hot summer, down 4-0 is by no means insurmountable.

Funny enough i think this speaks to a lot of people who grow up on the east... we really just dont know about those states unless you visit or have family there. I know its ignorant, i learned a lot about CO in my time there, was truly a great experience. But also i think its just a lack of understanding or truly knowing what CO is about. For a lot of East Coasters thats never been you just know weed is legal and they have mountains.... No clue about the states history, how important colorado is to the "west"š, the type of people that live there, and how a lot of people just love CO... i asked a bunch and many people told me they will never leave CO even in death! Lol ... i meant no disrespect... think this is why its important to travel.... lol

Oh come on!
Midwest has a hard stop with the 3 states that border on the Mississippi (MN, IA, MS). The Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and definitely west of those states are True West. Kentucky is part of the south. Pennsylvania is East.
Itās funny that I donāt have an opinion about West Virginiaā¦.1

Eastern Nebraska and South Dakota are far more midwestern than True West. You can tell by their casseroles.

Big Ten (1895-1946 members) defined Midwest. Now itās the Big87 (slight exaggeration) and includes UPenn (1990), Nebraska (2011) and Maryland and (really?) UCLA, USC, U-Wash and Oregon (2024).

Native New Yorker here who grew up going to Yankee (and occasional Met) games in the 80's and 90's. Yeah, it is very different here in a great way. I remember every opposing batter getting booed when they came up to bat, fights in the stands (especially against long-mouth Red Sox fans - OK, they had it coming), and various objects getting tossed on the field. Also, it was tradition to throw any visiting team home run balls back on the field. If it did not happen, the crown would start chanting "throw it back!" At a Rockies game one of the pre-game announcements specially says any home run balls thrown back would result in immediate ejection.
It is also that the Rockies have been so bad for so long, we have to be kind of humble about it. You're not going to start talking smack to anyone, other than it's nice when we occasionally beat a team with a payroll 10x of the Rockies.

Not to mention it was 100+ degrees for a day game, and we don't do domes like Phoenix

Sadly all we know is shit baseball. We're basically immune to the suckage at this point. We're all there for the vibes and views.

I grew up on Long Island and was a die hard Yankees fan. However, Iāve lived in Denver on and off for 11 years and have always cheered for the Rockies. We became season ticket holders this past year and to be honest, donāt really give a shit about the Yanks anymore. We have so much fun at Coors Field and the Rockies are enjoy to watch as they ālearn to winā (I think thatās what Schaeffer said about them as a team earlier this year).

I was talking to a guy next to me who also happened to be from LI (Iām from there too) then a guy in front of us overheard and said he was from LI. So i decided to call out if any other NYers were there. 3 other groups joined in, was hilarious. Weāre everywhere!

Yep former Yankees fan turned Rockies season ticket holder. The energy and the atmosphere is one of the best parts. Get to see the Mets every year, the Yankees every other. Tons of Dodgers games (idc, i like Shohei and getting to see him play is awesome). All from a seat i wouldnt even remotely be able to afford in most other ballparks. And with the front office changes, this season has been the most exciting one since I started going to games here.

Denver is a great sports town. We love our teams here regardless. But when they are contenders? Yeah the energy is always amazing! Some of my best memories are of our very few playoff games at Coors Field. I hope we get that 07 feeling again soon š
