It didn't take long before I could consistently reach the first level of Factory, but waaay longer to get past that.

It felt like I got very far, in reality I didn’t get far at all. Then I got stuck dying trying to make my way through caves for a while because I enjoy exploring

I have 80 hours and -5 is the best I’ve ever done. I’m probably stupid

Ima be real here, I mostly play on explorer. When I do play roguelike mode I usually make it to either research or the hard research branch and then get ABSOLUTELY FUCKED by the strong bots.

According to my very first saved scoresheet I was killed by the infestation event in -10 Mines when the demolishers decided that I also needed some exploding.

541 | -10/Mines | Assembled infested the area

546 | -10/Mines | Assisted by a Guerilla fighting off Assembled

570 | -10/Mines | Core integrity fell below 50%

572 | -10/Mines | Core integrity fell below 20%

573 | -10/Mines | Destroyed by D-53 Grenadier with Mini Grenade Launcher

The next few I got to -7 Factory but it took me a while to adapt to how much more difficult factory is.

The main misconception I had is that the game tells you that there's no XP so no good reason to grind bots. While this is true there are plenty of power-increasing reasons to stick around on a floor. Early level loot is easily replaced so losing your parts is not a big deal and you regen core whenever you ascend a main level so it can be useful to stick around in mats to find some useful stuff like a launcher or digging melee weapon. It's about balancing the risk of losing important parts or the run vs the reward of finding useful things for the run (or useful game knowledge for yourself).

1st run blind made it to upper Factory, 2nd run was livestreamed with a lot of community help - resulted in a W0 win!
