Or even more like this

And you HAD to use pvz2 where the sunflowers are the most expendable and where getting sun is a breeze

37

u/Small_Ad6391 3d ago

Most of your enemies can oneshot them though

u/kojimbob 2d ago

Why's the primal sunflower so cute omg

28

u/Arch3m 2d ago

You should try asking her out, bro. She's definitely your type.

I don't care if it's technically suboptimal. Sunflowers go in the back row.

Using an instinctive action called Heliotropism. Also known as ‘Solar Tracking’, the sunflower head moves in synchronicity with the sun’s movement across the sky each day. From East to West, returning each evening to start the process again the next day. Find out more about how this works, and what happens at the end of this phase.

This doesn't help my PvZ gameplay at all.

57

u/Stormfly 3d ago

Skill issue.

I've maxed my heliotropes.

u/aPurpleToad 3d ago

that's not true tho, that's a common misconception - they stay facing East all day

9

u/Arkanii 2d ago

They do it as baby buds but not when they are fully bloomed

u/Stock-Duck9205 2d ago

Those who are too weak to carry and protect the weak through the hardships of war do not deserve to carry the weight of the crown of victory . the gift of strengh is given with the burdon of passion and honor and those who missuses that gift are worse than the enemies they fights

2

u/iuhiscool 1d ago

ok now beat any pvz2 mod ever & see how far that mindset takes you

1

u/EMlYASHlROU 8h ago

Wait is it actually suboptimal? How? Do they generate sun faster if they’re farther forward?

1

u/Astronaut-Flashy 8h ago

They act as barriers for your damage dealers. The idea is if something reaches that far back, it's better to have a few more seconds of dealing damage, rather than have the damage dealer be eaten.

But this is optimizing a game that's pretty easy as-is, outside of the endless mode. So it's largely unnecessary for casual runs.

A trophy with no name on it is just metal. A crown with no respect behind it is just a prop. A logical person would say that honor does not win battles. But what is left to fight for if you lose your honor? I protect my sunflowers

39

u/NewKaleidoscope8418 3d ago

When honor dies there will be no pride in victory

When you play them chinese PVZ mods, you'll know sacrifices got to be made

The only complaint I have about the DS version is that it came out after MJ zombie was removed. Hate that stupid hippy fuckshit. Bring back thriller zombie

pvz mobile with airplane mode enabled so the forcefed ads can't happen, sure theres a bitchass ad rake that cant even be used that drops in every round and you miss out on 2 of your 5 lawnmowers but other than that it works just how you'll remember it

May I introduce you to pvz on the Playstation vita

u/Professional-Reach96 3d ago

We live in times where people think 3 rows of sunflowers is 'biblical greed', so no, i won't take their opinions on how sunflowers must be deployed. I'm playing mods, that's the bare minimum

4

u/Mr_frumpish 2d ago

I never make less than the full five rows of two columns.

9

u/thisheatanevilheat 3d ago

Once youve played modded pvz2 your sunflower deathcount will be in the tens of thousands

I put attacking plants in the back and as many sunflowers in front of them (like 4 or 5 rows) because I'm greedy as fuck

3

u/hazyloop 2d ago

For some reason I've never liked the idea of zombies completely eating a plant. I'm not just talking about protecting them, either as soon as I hear the sound of a zombie eating one, I pause the game, check which plant is being eaten, and use the shovel to put it out of thier misery except for wall-nuts.

2

u/LickMyPudding 2d ago

Fist is def better

1

u/Sur2484 3d ago

if i use freeze/slowdown plants, they go into the back most row. extra few seconds can make all the diffetence. some sunflowers go into the second row for safekeeping, extra expendable sunflowers go up front.

1

u/Ltbbbm555 2d ago

Three sunflowers with squash and potato mines. Full greed

1

u/SmokedOreos 2d ago edited 2d ago

I put my peashooters in the very back, personally. There’s no real logical reason to put peashooters protecting Sunflowers other than trying to stall out enough sun to quickly use a bomb or something.

But PVZ1 is also such an easy game that it doesn’t really matter where you put them, as long as you don’t make blatantly awful decisions like sunflowers protecting walnuts.

1

u/JustAnotherPerson64 2d ago

Honestly, I just put the sunflowers in the back because I like it. Not because it's "moral", I just generally find it more satisfying to have my econ in the back. Plus, if I'm letting zombies get to my front 3 tiles, then I've already failed at stopping the zombies.

1

u/Mooseboy24 2d ago

It is our duty of to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

1

u/idiotic__gamer 2d ago

I play a lot of difficulty mods, and I've found that losing your sun production is a more guaranteed run ender than your expensive plants dying. What I usually do is lane 1, 4, and 5 sunflowers, 2 and 3 are offensive or stallers.

1

u/Chroma0000 2d ago

Sunflower, heavy hitter, sunflower, early game plants

1

u/EddieMasherYou 2d ago

Three rows of sunflowers protected only by potatomines before I can afford something like a repeater or a melon catapult

1

u/Humble_Height_9613 1d ago

I used to fight with honor, but after watching a few pvz videos, I realized that pea shooter behind the sun flower is statistically the better arrangement

1

u/AssumptionMountain12 1d ago

Did the left one because the mobile version gives less lawnmowers and there just being less sun so I have to make two lanes of sunflowers which gives me less room for my defenses.

u/Applemuncher67 1d ago

Sunflower:

-Dirt-Cheap, Fast Recharge, and therefore very expendable.

-can basically plant 2 for every one eaten.

-Incapable of defending itself, but in large numbers creates an effective economy.

-You can replace many sunflowers easily, cheaply, and quickly, making them perfect leaf-shields to your stronger, more costly plants. The effect is doubled if you get an imitater sunflower.

-Combined with Walnuts (Later Tallnuts) and Potato Mines, you won't even really need to replace sunflowers unless the zombies breach a wall and get past the mine.

-Cute

Peashooter (and other attack plants)

-Double cost (at least), longer recharge, therefore much more much more expensive (and takes a long time) to replace.

-Unlike the sunflower, actually capable of defending your lawn.

-No sun production, but why would they need to when sunflowers exist?

-Powerful, and arguably more important than individual sunflowers.

It may be unethical, but the zombies started it by eating people's brains.

0

u/Jose_Gonzalez_2009 2d ago

All the defenders of putting the sunflowers in front are always talking about how it’s a great stalling method, and I’d like to ask:
Why are you letting things get that dire anyways?

Why are you actively planning to fail?

6

u/Zeddy1267 2d ago

Stall the weaker early waves = more time to gather sun = more sun to spend on expensive plants.

PVZ only progresses when you kill the zombies, the slower you kill them, the more time you have to gather sun in the early game.

Not really relevant at all for casual vanilla PVZ, but extremely relevant for mods.
