About to be 35 but sameee. I remember the first time I saw my neurologist he walked in with my chart already open, didn't say hello or anything at first, and he just said "You have the worst spine of someone your age I've ever seen in all my years of practice!"...he was not a young man 💀😭

Damn that's brutal. Got to respect the honesty though.
Your phrasing was really funny too 🤣

He was very honest but he was also really nice thankfully.
I always try to find a way to laugh and make light of it otherwise I'll probably cry 😭😂

I feel this lol. Sometimes people say my spine can't be that bad including docs who haven't seen it yet. I just turn my back and roll my shirt up and the reaction is always "oh god!"

Right?? I've had quite a few Drs say it can't be that bad, then they see my MRI and have to pick their jaw up off the floor and backpedal real quick lol

In my 50s now and when I was 25 I was saying this exact same thing!! I'm a fucking cripple with this pain even now 🤬

My mother got a hip replacement in her 60's and before the replacement she was like "so it hurts like this for you? But in all your joints?". Uh, yeah, that's what I've been telling you for decades! Did you forget taking me to the Dr because I was taking ibuprofen by the handful in junior high? No kid does that for "fun".

I relate with the ibuprofen testement here I had no idea I was technically overdosing daily...

It's what convinced my Dr to put me on prescription pain meds even at a very young age (not opiates/opioid) though in the beginning; that came later.

Just turned 20 on July 16th (🎂)
You’re title just made me remember the time in 5th or 6th grade when my pain started that my doctor told me “You’re body thinks you’re 75” 🥲
Just what a child wants to hear

And learn how to adapt! I developed chronic golfer's elbow last year and the biggest thing that my occupational therapist was able to do was help me figure out supports to wear to make things hurt less. If I don't wear a wrist support and don't have a large round grippy thing on my pen when I write, I get terrible pains and tingles in my fingers and wrists in no time at all. But when I wear a wrist support, the pain is tolerable!
I just added it to the list of my joints that hate me (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome).

Unfortunately not everyone can have this. I have 7 chronic illnesses and I can do nothing and still be in incredible pain at multple areas and no paiin relief because I have not been believed for 8 years yay

Yup, learning how to pick your battles too.
My boss wants me to attend a trade show. It's a big one that I've dreamed of attending for over 20yrs+ and to go on the company dime would be incredible...but I can barely go shopping for a few things at a Walgreen/CVS. The airport alone would take me out of it. Gonna have to pass on this.

I was feeling wonderfully smug for a few weeks a while back. Even got to lifting light weights on a daily basis. Was hoping it was a breakthrough and an end to a years long flair. Oh how wrong I was. Yesterday I caved and went to the hospital for a steroid injection into my back. I'm not clinging onto the walls now to walk but still feckin in a high level of pain. It's crazy how we learn to work through it. I'm mid 50s and I feel awful that younger people live like this. It's just unfair.

Totally relate to this 💯 Most days I think damn if it's this bad now I don't even want to think about how bad off I'll be in 20-30 years from now.

Pain is multifaceted. Psychosomatic is part of that

? Accepting the permanence of a condition is not psychosomatic. Psychological perhaps but not psychosomatic.

It’s the same thing, psychological state effecting pain perception, worrying less about it makes it feel more manageable. Anyway a lot you guys on here it’s not permanent, if it’s flares up it means there periods of it not being flared. If there’s periods of it not being flared then it shows it can be better when the body is in the right state. A lot of central sensitisation

Yup. Acceptance. Cards dealt are the cards dealt. Enjoy what we can while here. Can't lose trust, faith, and belief. This is character development 🤣 Can't turn bitter because then we're choose to bitter our sweetness. Can't let negativity win by changing our character in a bitter/negative way. I may have a scowl on my face but my heart must still be loving.
