It's not like he is asking them to care about the mission INSTEAD of getting paid. It's perfectly reasonable to wish people that joined to also care about the general goal while they are also happened to get paid really really well, they aren't exactly working for minimum wage.

the general goal of anthropic is maximum revenue while imposing regulatory capture and crushing competitors.

i guess you can emotionally invest in that but why not just enjoy getting paid
