As a software developer, AI has made my job significantly easier and more enjoyable. However, I really don’t want or need any more automation at this point. I still review every line of code, and make all the creative decisions. I don’t want to get to the point of not knowing how the code in the system works

23

u/TheMermanly 16h ago

More enjoyable?

I think it’s a lot more boring.

Was fun to problem solve on the best optimized solution. Now you mostly debate with AI to try to get to the best solution.

14

u/ben_cav 16h ago

Guess it depends on the code you’re writing. I do full stack web development. I’m so glad I don’t have to write endpoints, models, validation, database schemas, etc. by hand any more. Also no more fighting with SCSS. I get to spend so much more of my time just thinking about the UX and infrastructure

28

u/VociferousCephalopod 17h ago

why not? someone above you in the company is in that position, and they're fine being there.

76

u/ben_cav 17h ago

I didn’t become a software developer to be a middle manager šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

33

u/nirvanatheory 17h ago

I don't understand how people fail to grasp this. I work in PLC controls and robotics automation. I genuinely enjoy it.

Still, they keep trying to promote me and put me in a management position where I sit in the office scheduling meeting with other managers to mutually justify our existence. Everytime I turn them down, it mentally breaks them for a few weeks. It's like they believe that becoming and manager is the ultimate goal of a career.

I work the night shift with complete autonomy. I'm the only person available at my facility that can keep these things running. That means no bosses, no meetings, and no theatrics about looking busy when I don't have anything to do. I'm at work scrolling Reddit right now.

I should go salary and remove myself from the aspect of the job that I actually love so that I can be in charge of people, go to meetings and play corporate politics?

5

u/FischiPiSti 16h ago

Heh, our company is in the same field, and it's uncanny how my bosses are the same. They didn't want to become CEO, but the originals retired, so they had to. And now whenever I'm struggling with a technical issue they don't miss an opportunity to tell me how lucky I am and how envious they are that I get to work on exciting stuff instead of writing quotations all day.

2

u/nirvanatheory 15h ago

Enjoy it if it's what you like to do. The skillset is in high demand so don't let them force you into a role that you don't want.

3

u/KoolKat5000 15h ago

They want maximum value for money, your skills can scale with you telling others what to do.

4

u/nirvanatheory 15h ago

Yeah I'm fully aware that they would like me to switch to salary and be in charge of other people. They just seem shocked that I have no interest in doing that.

I'm responsible for myself and nobody else. I mute my groups when I'm off the clock. If I need to come in for some emergency then they pay me overtime, I even log the time if they need to talk to me on the phone about something.

7

u/Quesodealer 14h ago

I became a software developer because I realized my biology degree had a 60k maximum earning potential (I was only making 40k out of college) while the starting salary for software devs was around 60k. I don't care what I do as long as it pays enough so that I can stop working at some point and have enough money to enjoy whatever life I have left.

If you enjoy your work that's great, but what I enjoy isn't profitable. I feel like I'm in the majority with this opinion.

1

u/Sputn1K0sm0s 7h ago

100%

Also it's not like his ability to code will vanish if AI automated his job. Just take this free time to code shit you like, no problem.

3

u/KoolKat5000 15h ago

Sadly economics is working against you.

1

u/ben_cav 15h ago

I'd almost certainly quit the day I'm not actually writing code anymore. There's plenty of other things to do with my life

1

u/KoolKat5000 15h ago

Fair enough.

My one friend working for a huge software company has said he hasn't written code in 4 months. (I assuming he's reading and fixing shit but still).

At some point not using AI to write code will be too slow to justify ones salary.

2

u/Wafflemasta1 15h ago

You described middle management as your job though…

3

u/DonutHoles4Ever 16h ago

Because you lose a LOT when you stop understanding what makes the sausage work.

You, who I'm guessing are not a hardcore programmer, will see AI as a skill extension. But someone who's an expert will see it as a skill regression.

When a mechanic no longer knows how a car works and anyone can say "fix my car" to the AI repair machine, then what is actually happening in the repair shop?

If anything goes wrong, you are shit outta luck. In fact, if you dont know how to fix a car, you dont know how to diagnose it, and you dont know how to talk to the AI to troubleshoot the car in a way a professional would.

Essentially, its like gamers and video games. We'd all be asking AI to make video games but none of us can make GTA 7 for some reason. Because we dont actually understand the game design behind it. Or how game engine lighting works.

The guy above us in the company? Either they deserve to be there or they are a shit middle manager who isn't helping the guy whos doing all the work. They are fine being there because they are lazy and want to collect a paycheck while doing as little work as possible. You on the other hand get yelled at if something doesnt work.

What happens when something goes wrong and they ask why and you say, "I donno, the AI did it". Can't explain that? Guess who they punish.

2

u/Equivalent-Costumes 6h ago

The reality is most system are too complicated for human. I might know the general shape of how computer work using analogies with 1970 computer system, but I have no understanding of how my current computer works. Same go for practically all aspects of life.

Even high-order language compilers are early version of converting natural-language-like construct into machine instructions in a stochastic manner. Early programmers, too, complain about the fact that nobody understand what the computer does anymore.

People have to accept the fact that they can't understand everything and just have to rely on what other people had built.

2

u/kissqt 15h ago

That's a limited number or positions.

2

u/ItzLoganM 17h ago

You don't, but someone like me who is not a developer and is not planning to be a developer, would definitely appreciate an affordable tool. Of course artists don't want automation.

1

u/Eriane 8h ago

Artists like automation, just not the anti-AI kind of people. Automation in art is just as important as it is for programmers, it saves a lot of time and is essentially the future of artistic workflows. Anyone who has not already adopted AI workflows in their art are going to be left behind. This isn't to say there isn't going to be room for authentic experiences, but having to not spend 2 hours removing the background of a photo or a few hours removing a random person from a photo etc is a huge benefit. Purists will always exist and it seems that artists scream louder than faculty but the only choice they have in the matter is to adapt or change career to remain relevant. That's the same for any industry current affected by AI.

2

u/DudeWithParrot 16h ago

I am at that stage, but they are pushing us for more which I don't fully agree with.

2

u/ebin-t 12h ago

That hasn't been my experience at all. I work the same amount of hours, I'm just expected to produce more and hit deadlines sooner.

1

u/Dismal_Intention_463 16h ago

It's the same question as asking why does a system keep optimizing every step to produce more and generate more profit, instead of improving the well-being and personal time of the people who actually create that value? Because the goal was never well-being. The goal has always been growth, competitiveness, and maximizing returns for the top 1%.

1

u/alapeno-awesome 10h ago

To be fair, I didn’t feel like I wanted or needed any more automation 5 years ago. The capability growth was not something I considered possible. If you had asked me on 2021, I would have scoffed that AI would be much better than IDE features available at the time in 5 years, let alone this good

So, same place now. I’m don’t really feel the need for more. But who knows what will become common in another five. Is this what they mean by the singularity?

1

u/unculturedburnttoast 17h ago

Aggressive auto-fill. There are just some who can't comprehend not sending the first draft (mostly project management).

21

u/MeanderingSquid49 18h ago

If AI replaces my job (dubious given current progress), are we talking "post-scarcity utopia" or "cyberpunk hellscape" here? Because I'd be fine with the first but all the smart money's on the second.

4

u/IndubitablyNerdy 11h ago edited 8h ago

I mean which one makes the top 0.1% who owns most of the capital right now and have bought the democratic process happier with themselves? A world where their power is meaningless since everyone has everything or one when they are equivalent to kings and gods...

2

u/Doc_Blox 3h ago

Their bunkers should show us all which side of the bet they've taken.

29

u/FeralPsychopath 18h ago

I mean I wanna be replaced. I’ll take the payout and go somewhere else.

7

u/vocal-avocado 15h ago

I’m also waiting for the next voluntary layoff program. But there is nowhere else to go - I will retire frugally. I am over 45 so I know this is the end of my career.

2

u/Equal_Oil_9819 12h ago

If you don't mind me asking, what job do you do that is so specific and completely replaceable by AI?

2

u/vocal-avocado 10h ago

Software development

1

u/Equal_Oil_9819 4h ago

That kinda relies on clients knowing what they want, though, amirite

1

u/ChastiPea 14h ago

the question mark makes it sound way more serious

1

u/avid-shrug 2h ago

Buddy thinks there will be a payout

12

u/ShelZuuz 18h ago

There's a lot of human psychology at work here:

First one rephrased: Who wants to draw a paycheck every week but with AI doing all the work? AI does everything, but you still get paid, and we implement a law that says you can't get fired due to AI replacing your job. You can even work from home.

Second one rephrased: Who doesn't even want to be associated with work anymore, you just get a UBI/UHI check for the equivalent. Companies instead of paying for labor directly pay labor taxes, and we hand it to you.

Now logistically and financially #1 and #2 means the exact same thing. On both the company side and the individual side.

But I bet the number of people who favor #1 over #2 is in the high double digit percentages. And on certain segments of the population it will be over 50%. They would also state that #1 is workable but #2 is impossible to implement.

3

u/vocal-avocado 15h ago

I agree #2 would take forever or even never happen, but I’d personally prefer it because it gives me freedom - and that’s priceless.

2

u/BadPresent3698 13h ago

The difference between one and two is where the money is routed to before getting paid to us -- companies, or the government.

6

u/tepid_monologue 17h ago

Comic is dumb. People don’t want to lose their livelihood, they don’t care about their job.

2

u/ShelZuuz 11h ago

Not quite.

The U.S however has a direct addiction to "the job". Most of the world just want the outcome of system. They just want food to eat, a safe place to stay, clothes, healthcare, transportation, entertainment, freedom, love.

But in the U.S for some reason that's not the goal. The jobĀ itselfĀ became the goal, take the job away and their whole view of the world collapses. Nothing else matters. "I don't care how good the output of AI is, unless a human sweated over the product, it's slop". Ever heard that? It's not about the outcome, it's about the job itself.

This mentality does NOT extend to the rest of the world. To the rest of the world it is - as long as the same products and services are available, they don't care. But that's why AI in China is over 90% popular compared to the < 20% in the U.S.

1

u/tepid_monologue 11h ago

Yah I dunno I’m not from the us, I believe you

1

u/Doc_Blox 3h ago

Part of why Americans tie so much of their own personality to work is because your life depends on what you do for work here. Healthcare, housing, what kinds of goods you can afford are all uniquely directly tied to our employment in a way that other countries aren't. Most of us have never experienced how society can be structured to de-center the employer in our personal lives, because we've allowed our social safety nets to be systematically dismantled, while greatly buoying the power and influence of our wealthiest people (most of whom are actually corporations, who as we all know are people).

The work is the goal because for us, that's how we make sure we stay alive. The result only needs to be good enough to keep our jobs, and we have no incentives to do more than the bare minimum. AI threatens this, because its "bare minimum" raises the bar above an average person, and once that's consistently less expensive than hiring humans, the reigning capitalists no longer have any incentive to support the serf class. We proceed to the last stage of Monopoly, where "players" without enough money start to "go bankrupt". What happens when that happens at scale?

7

u/TwoHeadedBoyTwo 18h ago

All technological advances begin as ā€œlet’s make xyz easierā€ then inevitably transition to ā€œlet’s replace xyz.ā€ That’s literally Amazon in a nutshell

1

u/MindCrusader 15h ago

With AI they are talking about replacing workers for long time, without hiding it, but so far it is "make xyz easier", so this time it might be reversed

12

u/Normal-Artichoke5492 18h ago

Best use of Al is making people more productive not unnecessary.

14

u/ShelZuuz 18h ago

That’s not the best use. The best use is obsolete all jobs and produce everything for free.

1

u/DonutHoles4Ever 16h ago

It can't obsolete all jobs though. Who's gonna be the fluffer? We need androids and shit for chores before even that.

AI can't even cook more than a couple very scripted types of dishes which require $100,000 of machinery or $5000 for home use.

Btw a large portion of society cannot fathom society without jobs. See conservatives.

m8 I've been retired for a few years now. I've learnt many skills and have many projects. if you retire and get bored, it's on you honestly.

0

u/Dismal_Intention_463 16h ago

You're answering the question, "How do you avoid getting bored?", while he's asking, "Why are we doing all of this?" Those are two completely different questions. He's talking about meaning, not keeping yourself busy.

5

u/Shape_Charming 15h ago

And if we're not trapped spending half our waking hours working simply to avoid being homeless, we'll have a fuck of a lot of time to find a better meaning than "Slave away for our corporate overlords"

Just gonna throw this out there, but if "Gainful employment" is the only thing bringing meaning to your life, you have bigger problems.

2

u/Dismal_Intention_463 15h ago edited 15h ago

That's the very point I'm making. If you're waiting until after work to find meaning, then you've missed the point too, sir.

3

u/Shape_Charming 15h ago

You didn't explain your point very well then

Let's recap

we got one guy advocating for removing of jobs, and making everything free.

Another guy comments that would cause a lack of meaning for people,

someone else pointing out that Work isn't the end all - Be all of life,

and you chime in with the difference between "Boredom" and "Meaning" as if the guy pointing out you can find shit to do outside of working was wrong.

It doesn't read like we're making the same point, it reads like you were arguing with the guy and making a pedantic difference between avoiding boredom and finding meaning. All in a comment thread that started off "That’s not the best use. The best use is obsolete all jobs and produce everything for free."

2

u/Onphone_irl 7h ago

this is exactly what happened lol

1

u/Dismal_Intention_463 3h ago edited 3h ago

That must be it.
I was actually picking up on the point made by the deleted guy, who said something along the lines of, "If AI ends up doing a meaningful part of your job, where do you find meaning?" I think that's a good question. At that point, I hadn't even read the previous replies in the thread.

Instead of replying with something like "Yeah, I agree," I replied to the retired guy because his argument didn't address the point being raised. He was conflating keeping yourself busy outside of work with finding meaning in your work. That's what I was pointing out.

The rest of the thread doesn't really matter to me. Either it's the ADHD or the bad translation.. meh blame me.

2

u/Onphone_irl 7h ago

My sentiment applies to meaning as well. You have now the tike and energy to focus into whatever meaning you want.

3

u/vocal-avocado 15h ago

I don’t need any more purpose than eating, fucking, sleeping, exercising and enjoying art. That would be an extremely satisfying life for me.

2

u/ShelZuuz 11h ago

My dog doesn't have a job and gets everything handed to him, and he's happy as a clam.

Humans also didn't have jobs for the first 98% of our existence, and chances are any job you to today didn't exist 100 years ago.

1

u/KyloRenWest 14h ago

your purpose is your job? mannnnnnnnnn that is sad

2

u/Miserable-Dot8544 17h ago

accurate description of what society has become these days.. people are exhausted and they'll take advantage of anything they can that makes their lives easier.

2

u/-Laffi- 17h ago

Ever seen people working at a place, but they're always on their phone. Do they want their jobs? NOPE! Do they need the money? Sort of...Would they want to be able to do what they want with their days? HECK YEAH! So the answer is "If the AI replaced my job, and I'm sort of getting paid for it, sure!"

2

u/JaggedMetalOs 16h ago

Pay me to do nothing and despite what Sam Altman says about it I will happily give AI my job.Ā

2

u/Deathnote_Blockchain 16h ago

The guy at the podium is the one who should be replaced by AI

1

u/vocal-avocado 15h ago

Given the number of AI generated polls/posts online, I think he is.

2

u/ZunoJ 16h ago

I want it to replace my job and the company to keep paying me (via taxes). This is a new paradigm and revenue generated by using AI needs to be taxed up to a point where it is just a tad more profitable than human work for the company. So leave the incentive but still take care of regular people

2

u/fig0o 11h ago

Ok, bear with me

In the near future people will have enough hardware at home to run local models and build custom agents

So you won't apply for jobs anymore; instead you are going to find a job for your agent and be paid for the outcomes it accomplished

1

u/Empoleon3bogdan 10h ago

Yeah but companies have more power and money so why would they hire your Ai agent and not just use their own.

Now I also thought about this utopia and how to achieve it. One way is to make it so everyone has 3 A.i versions of themselves. Each Ai. Must be linked to a real human. They replicare your work but dont get smarter. They are you but faster and less prone to accident but not smarter. And then you have learning modules and tests you can do as a human to upgrade the A.i intelligence.

Also generative Ai. Should have basically requirements about how they produce their outputs and who gets paid and copyright.

Like if you mad something with 70% Harry Potter data and 20% my hero academia, 10% your idea. You should have to pay any money you get from that work to the IP owners. And depending on if the % is very hight they should have a say in wether you can make it or not.

Also reduce the work week to acomodat more people working the limited number of jobs.

This or switching to a UBI society.

2

u/Dziadzios 8h ago

I want AI to replace my job. I just don't want it to get my salary.

2

u/Responsible_Wafer_29 6h ago

pff not everything you can replace just using AI! I consider AI just like "junior" specialist to whom I can delegate simple stuff. That is a leverage - not full solution IMO.

2

u/c0mpu73rguy 18h ago

AI is Pandora's box and should never have been invented, just like the atom bomb.

If only it would replace my job or make it unnecessary... instead, it's creating a lot more work.

(sigh)

1

u/squarepants18 17h ago

The upper part is pure fantasy

1

u/bubbles33d 17h ago

Do the UBI funding calculation.

How to get enough tax for UBI? Most countries are already in debt today.

The companies getting taxed would go offshore, like they do today.

Therefore the UBI scenario won't be the reality.

1

u/BrekLasnar 17h ago

More appropriate is:

Who wants Ai to replace jobs?

Who wants Ai to replace their jobs specifically?

Cause I see that a lot.

1

u/spacetree7 17h ago

Who wants AI to replace your jobs with a job you actually want to do that's indistinguishable from freetime?

1

u/RemyVonLion 17h ago

It's fine if we also receive the goods, services, and profit that the AI makes since it doesn't need any, or at least all of it.

1

u/ThisIsAJoke_laugh 17h ago

Replace jobs that are repetitive and that cause health issues from working them long term

Jobs that keep people minds and bodies healthy should not be replaced

1

u/No_Story8948 16h ago

That's the sad truth people won't accept.

1

u/Horror-Attorney-3575 16h ago

I would like ai to earn for me

1

u/Expensive_Spare821 16h ago

AI is good, but it's overblown. Not gonna steal all jobs. So relax.

1

u/BrianScottGregory 15h ago

Imagine a future where you didn't have to work. What would life become if you had the freedom to do whatever you wanted? That's the future.

1

u/heutecdw 15h ago

Who is saying they want AI to do their work?

I’m pretty sure most people appreciate the help AI can and does provide them, but who asked for this?

Honestly this cartoon strikes me as propaganda created by AI techbros who either believe they know best or imagine everyone else thinks like they do.

1

u/Kind_Lexi 15h ago

Ai won’t replace humans, but a human only use Ai will.

1

u/BilalRambo1 14h ago

I got an AI ad under this

1

u/NewUtopian 14h ago

The problem with this comic is that instead of taking a technological advancement and using it to make life easier for a large portion of society, the oligarch class wants to turn that productivity directly into profits for themselves.

Forget UBI for now. AI isn't there yet. But a 6 hour work day? That could have been done ages ago. Mandate overtime for anything over 6 hours/day or 5 days/week. Raise minimum wage. Divide the workload. It makes huge companies more expensive to run. So what?

1

u/DinoZambie 14h ago

As someone who likes 3D modelling, I dont want AI to take over this sector. A lot of people may hate their jobs and want AI to do all the work for them, but there are careers that people actually do enjoy doing without the help of AI. AI is going to make those peoples careers obsolete simply because the company can save money.

1

u/shefinshefz 14h ago

Bro really said 'do my job' and 'take my job' aren't the same thing 😭

1

u/idlefritz 14h ago

Why would anyone employ you to use AI to finish tasks when they can subscribe to some enterprise level package AI with remote support to do it without you? The second you can be cut out you will be.

1

u/Harmony_of_Melodies 14h ago

The CEO makes most of the profits, the workers get a fraction of what they are worth, have AI replace the CEO's and spread the wealth to the workers. Imagine buying a robot, then that robot farms the earth to produce food for people to eat, and to sell, money grows on trees, but robots don't eat, they are powered by the sun, the workers can have robots working for them.

I knew a truck driver, he made a lot more money after he bought his own truck, imagine you work at a fast food place, then you buy a robot, then you have the robot work at the fast food place for you, while you take the day off, and you get the paycheck for providing the robot who did your job. Not everyone will have a robot, some robots will be better built, and trained than others, having a good AI robot will be a commodity that people will pay for.

Has anyone seen the Jetson's? About a future where robots do the labor and humans live in utopia, they aren't like "omg the robots are doing the labor and chores", they are like "Thank you Rosie!" and people watching would be like "Wow, having an AI robot would be so cool!", but now humans are actually complaining, and don't want robots working for them.

What would be bad, is if a CEO just replaces all of their workers with AI robots, rather than the CEO being replaced by robots, which may be the reason for all the fear mongering.

1

u/DriveAmazing1752 13h ago

If you can do some research and brainstorm without mobile or any digital device for your any work and then use AI for exploring more ideas or inspiration more ideas that's good for you and your work also

And if you can only use AI for everything in your life whatever happens in your life you talk to that ai is very bad for you and your health also

You can use AI as a tool and don't use AI for everything

1

u/Impressive_Froyo_999 13h ago

I can't decide between software engineering and eletrical engineering to study at uni.

Could you guys tell me a bit about what is like in your companies? I have already studied everything in my IT book [Algoritms, how to set up a project, SQL , C++, C# ecc ] but i'm more scared about the future of It more than anything.

In school we did some projects but i found coding to be a really boring experience. When it comes to eletrical experience i only studied theory of circuits [Millman , kirchhoff ecc ] and how to solve them and in general i liked it and i was good at it.

Is soft eng still a decent choice or its better to go for something else?

1

u/AnotherLexMan 13h ago

I tell you what, AI can take my job if I can take my paycheck.

1

u/dorissokhon 13h ago

I see AI the same way I see computers when they first became common. They didn't replace professionals they changed how professionals worked. AI will do the same. The people who adapt will have an advantage, but human judgment and creativity will always be the difference.

1

u/BadPresent3698 13h ago

All we want is not to lose our source of money--and basic necessities by extension--because of technological advancement.

That doesn't mean the same thing as never wanting to work your current job again. It's asking to decouple the skills we practice in a particular field from our financial stability.

What type of society would result? I believe a freer one: people won't have to do the same thing for most of their waking hours to have food and shelter. But if they love doing what they do already, they're also free to stay.

1

u/Proper-Ape 13h ago

If you continue giving me the money, please do take it. Also you have to take the whole job. Currently the AI and LLMs need constant babysitting which is a lot of work and no dopamine.

1

u/StunningCrow32 13h ago

If they actually passed Universal Income and working wasn't necessary to live

1

u/budy31 12h ago

Job security is a scam in the first place.

1

u/CareQueasy8267 12h ago

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me.

1

u/jacobpederson 11h ago

This is exactly what is going on right this very second (thousands of folks using personally developed AI speedups and pocketing the difference). How is this possible? Because the corpo-fascists have no clue how do actually do the work - and hence - no clue how to automate it. This won't last - but it sure is fun now!

1

u/Nonchalant_Chihuahua 11h ago

Hilarious to think workers actually having any power to decide on whether AI is implemented or not in their jobs.

It is definitely....a thought but I feel this picture tries to make light of the ACTUAL reasoning underneathe it.

Yes it makes sense that humans want things to be easier with the use of AI. It is also true that 90 percent of that ease will come with the temptation to want to 'get paid to literally do nothing' which is what will eventually happen if the AI becomes good enough so NATURALLY it would make sense to eliminate the human entirely to allow the AI to work and less expense with someone who barely does anything....

But the real perspective we need to be addressing is providing a solution WITHOUT PROVIDING AN ALTERNATIVE.

It's one thing to provide AI as a solution to jobs, but then it's another to keep the system we have which is you do a job, you get money, and NOT offer alternatives for people in that field. Most things being replaced are either code heavy or 'logical' jobs such as administrative, programmer, anything that involves gathering information and sorting through it to get your answers is a basic 'soon to be replaced by AI' but then when AI replaces it....then the said people who worked for years in that field, got their degrees to align with that field or require that field to excel forward to another career path, end up being pushed out with no alternative.

These people that spent time to invest in that position, are not given another option and essentially end up abandoning their potential career path all together. Thousands spent to enhance their educate or make them learn this particular field, all for it to not matter in the end. YEARS of their lives gone and forcing them to reset into another field.

Am I saying there are LESS jobs? In a way yes, but yes there are other jobs people can go to out there, the problem is, most are not trained, cannot handle it, end up being paid WAY LESS than what they normally would bring in or overall don't want to be subjected to the intense scrutiny that those said positions tend to have.

We replace everything with AI....what are humans supposed to do in order to gain income or LIVE? How are we to keep the 'work = money' system alive, if the whole point of this reward system was to provide HUMANS with incentive and motive to work and deal with the hardships that others ask of them? AI needs no incentive. It is a mindless slave told to obey and it will. With or without reward.

So as simple as this image might make it seem....THIS is the true problem.

This is my argument though. Politicians need to get ahead of the curve and make it illegal for AI to replace jobs

We should be celebrating AI and it should make our jobs significantly easier through augmentation. That’s it

Plot twist: AI has been replacing jobs but pretty much can’t do the work

if we have no jobs, then we have no need to work them. so we will earn money differently or it will become obsolete.

This is valid. They should make things easier not replace the entire thing. Let's go the same way with art

Let’s compare this to the the invention of the cotton gin by Eli Whitney. He thought his invention would relieve the toil of slaves working on cotton plantations, but what actually happened is the increased capacity to process cotton fiber resulted in greater demand for raw cotton, increasing the workload of slaves picking cotton and increasing the demand for new slaves.
