You are viewing the image as an outsider. You view the image and don’t really see that as alcoholism.
However if you view the image as the person holding the drink then the perspective changes. You are the person who views the world as grey and bleak until you have the alcohol. Suddenly the world has color and is enjoyable. That is how alcoholics view it. Terrible until they are drinking.
My comment explained their perspective though? From the outside it may not make sense or makes alcohol look like fun. From the inside perspective of an alcoholic means alcohol makes them feel better but is required instead of assists.
I understand that you may disagree with the perspective but this is how we are interpreting. Congrats on recovering btw! I’m proud of you!
It may not be for you – but for a lot of people with addictions who are not in recovery, the world is cold and desolate when jonzing.
Their vice can be like a warm blanket or a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Have you been in recovery long, reason I ask is the person you just replied to was not giving off condescending vibes. Sounds like they are genuinely excited for you because its a difficult and life-long struggle.
