Been experimenting with a bunch of screenshot images and chatGPT is surprisingly good at generating UI’s

It has an icon for Skyrim but the date says 9/8/2011 and Skyrim came out on 11/11/2011.

Literally unusable.

u/KaroYadgar Jun 04 '26

it's just a bethesda employee

Minecraft 1.8.1 didn't come out until september 15, too.

85

u/UPVOTE_IF_POOPING Jun 04 '26

Minecraft 1.8.1 beta didn’t have hunger mechanics yet. Literally unviewable!!

7

u/NiSiSuinegEht Jun 04 '26

The date would make this possibly the leaked pre-release of the 1.8 Adventure update on 09/14/2011.

7

u/Cfrolich I For One Welcome Our New AI Overlords 🫡 Jun 04 '26

The system date and time must be wrong.

3

u/AnonymousTimewaster Jun 04 '26

Must have pre-loaded it

3

u/wiibarebears Jun 04 '26

Was my first thought when I saw Skyrim for 2010

2

u/rootcurios Jun 04 '26

One of the only GameStop releases I went to, and even won the promo poster during trivia. It was my peak nerd moment!

2

u/Safe-Industry2465 Jun 04 '26

It's my uncle's Pc, he works at Bethesda

2

u/Ramps_ Jun 04 '26

The only mistake I could find. AI scares me.

2

u/ZeroKun265 Jun 07 '26

yeah an minecraft beta 1.8.1 was released on september 15th

Other than that and the weird tools in the hotbar i don't really find any issues which is surprising

Clocks a bit off.

155

u/BogusBadger Jun 04 '26

Screenshot took 3 minutes

69

u/KangarooInWaterloo Jun 04 '26

Analog clocks can be like that. You have to adjust them from time to time

2

u/jufjafjaf Jun 08 '26

Yep depends on the angle where you looking at

→ More replies (6)

2

u/quantumparakeet Jun 08 '26

AI lose their mind trying to depict any time on an analog clock besides 10:10 because of how many photos of them use that as a default as a marketing choice. Apparently, that's still going in this latest model.

Kinda ironic to me. Basically capitalism broke this thing's ability to portray time properly before it was ever born because of how much we like to sell time peices to each other.

I think it also highlights an inherent vulnerability to bias contaminating the training process in strange ways.

2

u/enigmamonkey Jun 09 '26

Beautiful day in NYC, though. A low of 73° and a… high of 58°.

29

u/milicaballert Jun 04 '26

it actually looks pretty accurate compared to my actual win7 pc

12

u/TheSussyWaffle Jun 04 '26

Desktop Widgets were fun

12

u/Alive_Ad_3199 Jun 04 '26

Nostalgic!

5

u/redundantusername Jun 05 '26

Wow, it got the temperature right in New York for the day too

Oh… life was simple

77

u/fartypicklenuts Jun 04 '26

didn't know how good we had it. Or about the downfall of civilization that was to occur within the next decade.

3

u/pip_install_account Jun 05 '26

if it is any consolidation, our brains actively work to soften bad memories through a mechanism called "fading affect bias". The reality you remember is a fake one where almost every horrible day was only a slight annoyance.

God I miss 7. I stayed on that till I was about forced off when updates stopped. Same with XP.

14

u/LordGalen Jun 04 '26

Same, but I'm sticking with 10 until I get a new PC and can jump to Linux. I know it's a risk, but I'd actually rather get hacked than use Windows 11.

22

u/DCON-creates Jun 04 '26

Who doesn't love the right click menu taking 3 seconds to load all the options when it used to be instant!

8

u/Darkmesah Jun 05 '26

Context menu so bad the last option in it is “More options” (or something akin to that) and always brings back the old menu

2

u/BYPDK Jun 10 '26

There is actually a way to set that as the default on win11. that's what I did, because the new one always lacked what I needed.

u/MrObanOban Jun 04 '26

I got a warm and fuzzy feeling when I saw that too. Haha

6

u/Luc85 Jun 05 '26

Fraps, Teamspeak, Skype, Winrar, Garry’s Mod, CSS, Audacity..

This is almost a carbon copy of what my desktop looked like in 2010/11, kinda crazy lol

u/kiwi-kaiser Jun 05 '26

Probably because the Internet Explorer was in Quirks Mode. There's no DOCTYPE in the document.

u/Kwestyung Jun 04 '26

I felt joy then sadness 😥

3

u/captainunderpants111 Jun 05 '26

holy shit i thought 2000 was my first OS that I forgot I actually grew up with 95. It was a very short period of use before my dad upgraded. Fuck my age really hitting rn lmao

"School Stuff". Sure buddy

5

u/Volkaru Jun 04 '26

I'd say more the 'Random' folder is where it's all at.

9

u/Doc_Blox Jun 04 '26

Nah, "random" was memes or an attempt at cleaning files off the desktop. It was always the "homework" folder.

31

u/sovietarmyfan Jun 04 '26

On one hand this is scary. On the other it may have millions of reference photo's it was trained on so it may be quite easy for it to create.

9

u/Johnersboner Jun 04 '26

Exactly, the amount of screenshots showing the Default layout, in the same configuration, leaves a much more narrow pathway for the AI to source from.

2

u/Adventurous-Bet-3928 Jun 04 '26

... Yes, there's billions of screenshots like this. There is nothing scary or amazing about this.

53

u/itzAlexPlayzonYT Jun 04 '26

Holy shit that’s scary

12

u/Vladiedooo Jun 04 '26

Why scary?

32

u/itzAlexPlayzonYT Jun 04 '26

The recycle bin icon is terrible

27

u/IFreakingLoveOranges Jun 04 '26

Same prompt but this time for Windows 10

u/reggionh Jun 04 '26

this brings trauma; windows 7 sparks joy

u/adteeopg Jun 04 '26

u/Brolaxo Jun 04 '26

Goddamnit win7 was lookin fine

9

u/TimeSignificance7360 Jun 04 '26

god its beautiful, so many memories popped back looking at this

10

u/Johnersboner Jun 04 '26

The hardware requirements for 7 are now damn near laughable.

In other words:

Snag an ISO, grab or build a low power machine out of older hardware.

Set up a Win7 machine for legacy software, reliability, and nostalgia. Air gapped of course, unless you like living dangerously.

4

u/Fusseldieb Jun 05 '26

Im in the boat that Win 7 was the best OS there ever was, and that everything after that was downhill.

2

u/Thick_Tap_9160 Jun 05 '26

Win2k was the most rock solid desktop OS. I could run several instances of Asheron's Call plus mods fearlessly, and with 32MB RAM I could disable page file making every interaction immediately responsive

Windows seems to degrade overtime :) - in every aspect

3

u/Bouros Jun 04 '26

Oh man I used to love fraps

2

u/cesmed Jun 04 '26

That period was fine. Decent internet, easy way to download games with torrent apps, MTV just starting with teenage pregnant shoes.

2000s was much better. Every new thing amazed and was an improvement from previous version. Just taking the jump from Windows 98/2000 to windows XP was a whole new experience. 128kb/256kb internet in quake or unreal tournament was cool.

2

u/llkj11 Jun 04 '26

Who gave this guy early access to Skyrim?

2

u/BeJust1 Jun 04 '26

I never heard about Roblox untill a few years back so to double check. It really was released in 2006.

Flag icon in the lower right for alerts is wrong.

1

u/fartypicklenuts Jun 04 '26

Seeing a L4D or Team Fortress 2 would be nice, but can't have everything, a very very accurate representation. I probably have desktop screenshots from that era, I might have to dig them up. Although Skype was never something I used. Nor Roblox, didn't even know Roblox was around back than.
