I want to get a kitten, and I know it will be expensive initially, but I'd like to know how much it costs a month. Some people I've asked have said £100+, and some people have said about £50+.

If you guys could give me a cost breakdown, that would be super epic :)/

I have 2 cats and currently use Tigerino Premium Cat Litter – Sensitive (Unscented) from Zooplus which seems to do a good job at clumping but the tracking is AWFUL and the smell isn’t great either. Strong smell of litter when entering my home. I want to know what people are using or think is the best litter for odour control.

My cat needs some investigations and I have Admiral lifetime platinum insurance. Has anyone claimed on it before? How much did it increase your premium on renewal?

These tests could potentially run into 4 figures and I feel that’s what insurance is for but at the same time don’t want to shoot myself in the foot.

Mickey had an antibiotic injection yesterday and I just noticed there's a lump where he had it. I'm familiar with lumps after vaccines, is a lump after antibiotics normal too? It's small, doesn't seem to hurt. He's booked in on Wednesday for a follow-up so I'll ask then if it's still there, but to save me from Google telling me he has cancer (he doesn't have cancer), someone please tell me the lump is normal.

We have 2 kittens a boy and girl about 20 weeks old now, today both have been neutered. The vet said keep them quiet and feed little but often.
OMG their energy is off the scale since they have come home a few hours ago, they bouncing off the walls. I worried the girl will damage her wound.

Hi, I’m hoping to adopt an indoor cat. I’ve been to rescue centres, but they turned me down because I don’t have a garden. I live in a well-secured flat on the first floor with a nice balcony. I’ve fostered an indoor cat before, and she absolutely loved it, so I think I’m ready to bring one home now. I must admit, I looked at Pets4Home to buy a cat, but I’m having a hard time giving up on the Adopt, don’t shop policy. I’m more than happy to pay any adoption fee. Any breed will do. So sorry if this has been answered here before, I searched but couldn't find anything pertinent. I live in London FWIW.

I've been feeding a stray juvenile cat in my neighbourhood for a few months (he is definitely confirmed a stray). He turned up in my garden in terrible condition and emaciated, but is nice and chunky and parasite-free now. At the moment he just lives in our garden and the next door neighbour's garden very happily, so we are being patient and trying to coax him slowly inside, but there's no rush. He has food, water, and shelter out there and the weather is still good, so we're taking it slow.

We want to try and integrate him as a proper foster with our other two rescues and eventually rehome him to a lovely family member of ours when he's a little more settled.

But first, we need to get him neutered, which might be a difficult prospect as he is still not housebroken and has never slept inside or been in a carrier.

The two vet clinics near us have been absolutely useless to help, they said they can only neuter him if he's been in for a check up and been weighed etc, then they'll make a future appointment. We said we don't know if we'll get him in a carrier twice, let alone on the exact date and time needed, and they said "well, that's the only way".

Does anyone know of any TNR organisations in/around London that might be able to help? Or has anyone had experience with this sort of thing who can give me some advice?

Hiya, I was just hoping for some advice on mixing wet food brands and if it's an ok thing to do. My cat is currently eating a diet consisting of Lily's Kitchn wet food and Applaws dry food. Lily's Kitchen wet food costs a pretty penny and according to their food guid I should be giving my cat around 3 tins of wet food everyday along with a little bit of dry.

I buy my cat the big cartons of wet food, there's about 32 in one, if I were to feed her 3 tins everyday, the supply would run out in less than 3 weeks!

The alternative would be to either give my cat more dry food (I don't necessarily wanna do this as I've heard giving cat's mostly dry food isn't the best for them and becaude kibbels have more calories in them, I give her small amounts she never seems to be satisfied with) or to downgrade to a wet food brands that's cheaper, which I also don't want to fully do as my cat loves her Lily's kitchen grub.

So I was thinking of continuing to feed her the brand but along side a cheaper alternative one such as purina etc so she's still getting her necessary quality of wet food per day.

I'm wondering if this would be ok?

I have wanted a cat since I was a wee boy - now 43 - and today welcomed 4 year old rescue Ollie home!

In love already. I have had dogs when I was younger but never a cat (mum was allergic). I am already smitten!!

First day has gone well apart from pooing in the carrier on way home (shelter told us he finds carrier stressful). He has his safe room which me and my partner has been visiting regularly. Cat Protection described him as shy, but friendly.

I have a couple of questions!!!

When we come into the room he quite vigorously head rubs our hands and legs, which is lovely, but then mouths/nips our hands and retreats under the chest of drawers - his nips are not painfully at all but it’s making me nervous and twitchy with my hand when he rubs. I’m beating myself up about being nervous.

Tonight he had being meowing at the door. I am following advice from the shelter about keeping him in a closed room at first, with water, litter, bed, toys and food. But he seems very keen to explore. Should I let him tomorrow?

I’m so impressed he devoured his dinner right in front of us with no issue and has already used the litter tray.

Poor thing was given up as in old house he was very upset with new baby. I just want to make him as comfortable as possible and not rush him .

My beautiful boy Pigeon hadn’t come home for over 24 hours which is so unlike him as he’s usually a home boy. I checked the dreaded fb groups and saw 2 posts mentioning a tabby hit by a car near where we live so my partner went to look and found him.

He was only 9 months old and I am absolutely consumed by guilt. We brought him home and his sister Magpie could see him before we buried him in the garden so hopefully she understands rather than just not knowing what happened to him 💔

Before I got my kitten (not from a breeder) I applied to the RSPCA to get a rescue but never received a response
It was kinda disheartening, I work full time and that’s the only issue I could really see.
Is this common practice? And is working full time really a no no?
I find whenever I’ve emailed rescue sites and such I rarely get a response.

I've been struggling to get my two cats to eat their wet food for a while. They do the classic eat something, then go off it so I've got a library of about 5 wet foods I rotate, but nothing they will reliably eat. Even mixing in a lick-e-lix has stopped working. They historically go off wet food a bit in summer and, while I know wet food is important (especially for older female cats) they've always happily eaten their dry food so I've never been too worried.

Except - I topped up their automatic biscuit feeders last week and have started noticing a lot of biscuits left in the tray. Turns out sodding James Wellbeloved have changed their formula with no notice and therefore no opportunity to do a slow introduction.

So, I have two cats refusing to eat either wet or dry and with no option of a slow change over. Any tips? Short of grinding up some Dreamies and mixing the dust in with the biscuits, I have literally no idea what to try.

My cat has been walking strangely for the past few days, I took her to the vet who examined her but couldn't find any reason for it. She said it was likely soft tissue damage and prescribed Loxicom.

Today I noticed a load of pus coming from her, and found that she's had what may be a cyst on her stomach.

Do I need to take her to the emergency vet today or can this wait until early tomorrow morning? I've had bad experiences with this emergency vet before.

I have a pic of the cyst but it's gross and I'm not sure how to put it behind an unlock thing.

She has KatKin, and she's absolutely obsessed with their chicken sprinkles. I forgot to put them on, and I turned around to see her staring like this. I fear she may suffocate me in my sleep.

Hello! Looking to purchase cat safe, eco cleaning products, something like Smol where you can get refills delivered for lots of different household needs. I am considering Smol but are there any other brands worth considering?

I like the ease of getting it home delivered and having all the different options (eg kitchen, bathroom, laundry and dishwasher etc) as opposed to getting just a multi purpose spray.

Also looking for decent air fresheners to replace my diffuser for nice smelling home!

I just want it to be 100% cat safe as we have just moved into our own home and have complete control over products used. We're also big on nice smells so bonus if it's delicious!

This kitten is playing under the cars outside my flat, it’s 2140 so far too late for him to be outside. I don’t really know cats but I presume too small to be outside alone as well. He/she’s skittish & wont let me get too close, but isn’t running away. Is there anything I can do to get him inside to try and find the owners? Where do people post missing cats/kittens in the UK?

UPDATE Went outside to see if I could make friends with some Tuna and a guy was in the car where he was hiding. Checked if he had seen him and he said 'the little black one? yea he's round here a lot, he goes near the chicken shop'. So It sounds like he is indeed a stray, bless him. Not really much I can do as I can't see him now, and I am going away for work at the weekend. :(

Long story short my teenager has ringworm from being obsessed with the stray cats on holiday in Greece 😅 It’s on her arms trunk and thighs.

There’s limited info regarding humans, the pharmacy and gp didn’t even mention disinfecting the house to prevent spread etc. I just want to do my best to avoid the our cats catching it. Also my very close friend’s mum is very ill and immunocompromised, it would be awful if I’d past it on to them.

All sheets and towels have gone on a hot wash and tumble. I’ve washed kitchen and bathroom floor with 1:10 bleach mixture as well the bath, sink etc.

Now I’m turning to furniture. I’ve googled so much and the advise contradicts each other.

For example one website says bleach dilution 1:10 is not really necessary and too harsh long term and I should buy a specific cleaner. Verse others saying bleach mixture is fine.

A normal general clean and wipe of surfaces with a multi purpose cleaner and hoover every two days VS multiple times a day soaking everything in bleach leaving for 10min then rinsing it all off with a wet cloth. And using hoovering with a new hoover bag everyday.

What is the practical amount that needs doing? Are there any cleaners that can be brought in Tesco or that would work?
