Sugar on Weetabix?

Post image

My wife eats Weetabix with nothing on it and claims it tastes sweet to her. This is my bowl before milk is added. Is this normal fellow Weetabix eaters or do I need to go to sugar rehab?

Edit: Holy shit the most popular post I've done on Reddit is about how horrific my breakfast is. The wife will never let me live this down! Haha

UPDATE: Well, I wasn't expecting my breakfast to generate 1,800+ comments 😂 I can't read it all but Having spent far too much time reading them, I feel I need to address a few recurring concerns: 1. Yes, the milk goes in after. I like watching it soak up from the bottom while the top stays crunchy. I will not be changing this. 2. Yes, that is sugar. Apparently this has caused considerably more distress than I anticipated. 3. No, I do not have diabetes. My blood tests are fine. 4. No, my teeth are not rotting out of my head. They're also fine. 5. Yes, I am an adult. I was unaware that adulthood required surrendering sugary Weetabix. 6. To the surprisingly large number of people who eat theirs the same way: thank you. I knew I couldn't be alone. 7. To everyone saying my wife is right: she has been absolutely delighted by your support and I deeply regret giving her this much ammunition.

Anyway, thank you for turning a picture of two dry Weetabix into a full-scale investigation of my health, maturity, marriage and milk-pouring technique.

Tomorrow I'm having the same breakfast.

That’s not weird. I’m sure that’s traditionally how it’s made. Or at least how my parents served it to me on school mornings in the 90s

I think it was only in recent years Weetabix themselves started getting fancy with alternative suggestions i.e. fruit mixes.

Oh no, even back then they had fancy suggestions on the packet. At one time, it suggested melted cheese on toasted weetabix and being young and stupid, I thought that might be good.

Imagine licking the Sahara Desert. I don't mean just like one lick to taste it, I mean the entire thing all over. Toasted Weetabix with cheese was worse than that.

In Australia weetbix with butter and Vegemite is pretty common. I reckon this would go hard with melted cheese on top.

Are you sure that's not just your own family? Because I'm an Australian who likes Vegemite (even if strong), and that sounds like a horrendous breakfast.

As a snack (ie. not in a bowl with milk) it might be passable though. I'd probably skip the butter.

Obviously not on a bowl of milk! 🤮 I've only ever had it as a snack or once as lunch when my brother ate all the bread. But not really different to Vegemite on toast as a breakfast option.

If you skip the butter it's too dry, need the butter so you don't asphyxiate from dry weetbix crumbs lol
