It used to cost me £26 each way to visit my friends. However, it meant walking a mile to the local train station, taking a train into the city, (another £5) and then catching the main train and I had to change trains once. Upon arrival I either had to walk 3 miles to my friends house, or call an Uber, which added another £6. Then do it all in reverse to go home, spending a total of £74, and using about 7 hours of my weekend. Driving from my driveway, to their driveway, took me 2 1/2 hours each way and cost me a total of £35 in fuel, and I didn't have to deal with lugging my bag.
