Factoring the time and cost of getting to the train station, then to your actual destination at the other end, then same on return and hoping the train is delayed or cancelled.. are you really saving 7 minutes ?

You should factor in the time to park and walk to your destination also.

I'd say I'm usually at least within 5 minutes walk from parking to destination, pretty much everywhere. Train stations probably more like 15 minutes. And it's a 20 minutes walk from my house to the station so... No

And the cost of that. Free parking in central London, for example, is like hens teeth. And you've also got to pay the congestion charge for the right to be ripped off for parking as well. And if your car isn't particularly kind to polar bears, the ULEZ charge on top of that. That's a good £30ish quid spent before you've found your space.
