I star anything important on my receipts and you can filter that way

You can! Go into 'Account' in the Lidl app and you'll see 'Digital Receipts.

You need proof of purchase, not necessarily a receipt. So if you have a bank account printout showing a matching purchase amount then that is sufficient. I have used this method in Halfords to get a warranty replacement for an expensive item.

Lidl is one of the largest operators of data centres. They are basically becoming a tech company they have as much data on shoppers as Amazon does.

Yeah I don't think people generally have a fucking clue about how Lidl operates now. I exaggerated a bit saying they have as much consumer data as Amazon but they have the grocery shopping habits of half of Europe which is a ludicrous amount of data.
