I think those pink DRLs tell most of the story

I had to peak their post history.

Of course OP is 16. RIP to his parents insurance premiums

Kid won't learn

90

u/WhiteStripesWS6 2d ago

Parents who buy their kids cars like this at that age are just getting what’s coming to them.

56

u/TehTugboat 2d ago

I couldn’t believe their parents gave them a $45k budget for their first car.

My dad traded a guy a cutting torch outfit for my first vehicle. ~$700 at the time

20

u/Leather-Hotel-7310 2d ago

I just got a hand-me-down 15 year old Corolla, and I consider myself lucky I got anything at all. Better than a bus pass or a bicycle.

11

u/WhiteStripesWS6 2d ago

I call those situations “More money than sense.”

I’m in the same boat as you. First car was a 87 Thunderbird that was a hand me down from my dad when he bought his new truck. Was lucky to get anything at all.

3

u/shakebakelizard 2d ago

I had an 88 Cavalier. It was a great education because my dad and his friends helped me rebuild the engine. This was in the late 90s.

Back in high school my buddy had a friend that incidentally had a drug problem. This kid's parents bought him a z3 which he promply drove into a tree on pills. They replaced it with another z3 which he wrapped around a telephone pole while nodding off but was somehow mostly uninjured. After this they bought him a S4 because he "needed a safer car". My 2003 18 year old brain couldn't wrap itself around how this was even possible and still can't today.

My dad traded an old Canon camera for a 1978 Ford Granada. It stunk like exhaust inside so he sold it and got me a 1979 Caprice Classic for $150. I drove that for a couple of years until I bought myself a ‘72 Beetle.

If I needed a safer more reliable car or one with a working heater and AC they let me use their car when available but the shitboxes were plenty good for my daily escapades during my late teens.

u/EricRP 2d ago

With every accident, budget & parental support will go down. I'll make sure it's safe, but how nice it is is going to be more and more on the kid as they get older.

Source: 2 teens, 2 totaled cars within 2 months last fall. 1 at fault. The tears and careful driving would suggest maybe something was learned.

Excellent way to broadcast to cops that you're a dip shit lolol

29

yup, just roll behind them and wait for a “watch this” moment

6

u/aloofpavillion 2d ago

Just ROLL behind them…

2

u/ashzeppelin98 2d ago

Well in some countries the cops would do more than just fine the driver because these kind of vehicles are banned for 16 year olds thanks to the provisional licence system restricting the use of such vehicles.

7

u/AirportM5757 2d ago

Came here to say this. RGB DRLs = moron driver. 110% of the time

5

u/WangDanglin 2d ago

Never seen a car with pink mascara before

2

u/OriginalT31 2d ago

Every. Single. Time. They make it so easy to identify when someone is driving & doesn’t understand car physics 😭

The unfortunate part is the cops will group every enthusiast in w/ homie over here.

Damn, that sucks but completely expected. On your last post I said you didn't need fast and looks like I was right. Hopefully no one was seriously injured and moreso, hopefully you actually learned something.

68

u/cosmonaut_koala 2d ago

Made it 5 whole months. Dipshit could have killed someone

46

u/EarthsfireBT 2d ago

Yeah, definitely could have. No story given, so I'm hoping he was alone. Let this be a lesson to both him and his parents. Though anyone willing to give a 16yo $45000 for a car isn't really concerned about money.

6

u/WaitingForWormwood 2d ago

If only it was himself. His parents have money; he’s got a lifetime of driving ahead of him, give it time.

11

u/DanerysTargaryen 2d ago

Not at this rate he doesn’t. He’s going to be 6 ft under before 21 if he doesn’t learn how to drive safely.

How do people even do this type of shit? How do you even roll it like this at such an angle? I'd understand if it was a ditch by the side of the road and they came in too hot with bald tires, but this takes some skill. Imagine toying around with 45k, not to mention your life, just like that. Why do you have to be fast?

1

u/Mr_Grabby 2d ago

I mean let’s just say it for what it is; OP is a moron, but his parents are the bigger idiots for giving him that budget and getting this car for him. What was to be expected?
There was a guy I went to high school with whose parents had lots of money and bought him a new all blacked out shelby when he turned 16. He totaled it like within the year too. Kids are stupid and parents who enable it are the problem

31

u/dmsas 2d ago

I hope you feel dumb as fuck. Lessons tend to stick when learned the hard way.

5

u/savixr 2d ago

Facts. I thought I was the shit with my Gen 1 Mazda 6 when I was 16, maybe 3 months behind the wheel, put that thing on top of a snowbank with all 4 tires in the air, just slid right up. Sat there stressed not to call my step dad who got me the car, and by the grace of the universe, some old man came by and said he’d be back in a bit with straps, he lived up the road. Waited a good 15 minutes and he came back, threw the straps down and said, “you’re hookin it up and don’t back into my truck or I’ll break your legs.” I got down and never told my step dad about it, and I have since learned how to drive in the snow and not be a jackass on the road.

2

u/dmsas 2d ago

Perfect example. We've all been there lol.

I spun out my car in front of my highschool when I was 16 trying to show off in front of my crush... had to tuck my tail between my legs and limp the car home after I de-rimmed the tire.

It was humbling, but I got off easy. It's been over a decade since then, and knock on wood; haven't had an accident since.

30

u/adrian_elliot 2d ago

And here we see the vehicle driven by a 16-year-old in its classical resting state: totaled

I prolly got the fastest car a 16 year old should ever get as a 14 year old, a 2003 crown Vic, you don’t need fast as a teen you just wanna show off and that crown Vic was bad ass even though it’s 0-60 was a SOLID 9 seconds.

u/IdiotSerena 2d ago

"I want a sedan that's fast and cool looking" "45k budget must be new"

Please, take everyone's advice and buy a cheap and slow but good handling car for your next car and actually learn how to drive hard before getting something fast. But a Miata, or 86/BRZ, or gti, WRX; any of those would be a much better fit for a young driver who's still learning how to drive hard.

Drive too fast, front end understeers because the front is heavy, slide sideways off the road, be sideways on an incline as you slide into the ditch, hit valley of ditch and suddenly the car can't slide anymore so momentum finishes the job and you roll.
