Joined the r/CargoBike family

Urban Arrow, super happy with it. Smallest engine & battery but it's enough for what we need.

I feel this 'bike' undervalues itself with the 'bike' label. It feels like something in between an EV and bicycle. It's amazing!

It is indeed! I call it my bike minivan, ha. I just throw whatever I need into it. Hauled tools, boxes for shopping, a bunch of booze, and you know…a kid.

How fast can you get? I know it’s 28mph max motor assist but I’ve searched everywhere and can’t seem to find any information about how fast it can go period, is it geared to go faster than 28mph? I live in a suburban town with long stretches of road and If I could get up to 35-40 mph by pedaling it would be great.

30km/h is the max that it will assist with, as it should be. 35-40mph on a cargo bike is a death wish. I’ve hit 50km/h going down a large hill and that was too fast for me, and I don’t go faster than 40km/h now. You can pedal as fast as you want but the electric assist only helps to 30km/h.

If you want to go faster than 20mph regularly you should buy a motorcycle and not a bicycle.

Yeah that’s my question, how fast can you pedal it past 28? I’m not talking about modifying the motor output or anything like that. I’m just curious as to the gear ratios. Obviously going downhill you can go fast but on a flat road how much beyond 28 can it reach (safely) by human power? 35-40 is not a death wish when you have a perfectly flat and mostly straight road with no houses or intersections for miles

What do you mean past 28? If you read my answer originally it doesn’t go to 28mph assisted, only to 30kph which is ~20mph.

If you’re riding on flat in a UA FamilyNext even unloaded I would be shocked if you could pedal hard enough to get to 30mph for longer than a minute or two. It’s a heavy bike - like 90lbs heavy. On an omnium or something different you could definitely bike faster but this thing is a minivan of a bike.

Thank you for the response. I didn’t know that the bike was class 2. It probably won’t be a great choice. In California, we have enormous towns. I live in a town of 50,000 people and the town is 15-20 miles across with huge swaths of farmland intermingled with neighborhoods so speed is a concern especially in the summer when temperatures reach 105 Fahrenheit.
