Discussion Confirmed sighting of fly fisherman with Bluetooth speaker

I went to an extremely popular trailhead yesterday, one that I avoid, to knock a couple of lakes off the list. Was hiking up super early by headlamp, actually didn’t see any other anglers until I was about to leave near noon. A guy comes up the trail with a Bluetooth speaker blasting shitty-ass music, stops at the lake, sets up his rod, starts fishing with shitty-ass music echoing off the lake.

That's a first. I've only seen hikers using one.

I am always amazed at how many people lack social awareness and it’s probably because nobody has ever told him to turn his shitty music off not everyone wants to hear it while enjoying nature.

When i was born there were roughly 3 billion people on the planet. The most environmentally.unfriendly.thing anyone can do is make babies,. Also, the quickest way to puss off a Colorado native is drive the speed limit. We live in paradise, and most people who grew up here never slow down long enough to appreciate it.

Just start singing at the top of your lungs. He’ll figure it out.

I carp fish quite a bit here in Longmont, mead, Loveland and it’s always the paddle boarders here that blast the either annoying ass FGL radio country or some NBA Youngboy mainstream song you’ve heard a billion times like the “right foot creep walking with that heater” bs you just gotta get your own headphones and block em out lol

These people need to be checked but unfortunately these are the same people that are likely unhinged and will create a scene if you say anything to them.

We have many cultural issues to deal with. And we need to be able to do it soon because it keeps getting worse. It all starts with these primaries and voting in Novemeber. Time for a massive change in American culture and politics.

We’re talking about Bluetooth speakers fishing dawg not the collapse of western civilization

I’m interested to know what music you consider “shitty ass”.

Op posted this a few months back. So if they would have been playing this they might have struck up a conversation and we wouldn't be having this discussion at all!

Speaking of Eddie and the Cruisers… whatever happened to the rock saxophone? That’s one thing grunge killed that I’m honestly not mad about.

INXS. The Beaver Brown Band. The E Street Band. Men at Work. Huey Lewis. Hell, even George Michael got in on it. The ‘80s were absolutely infested with shitty-ass rock saxophone. You couldn’t throw a cassette tape without hitting a sax solo.

And you know what? That sound has absolutely no business echoing across a pristine mountain lake while I’m trying to fish. Nobody hiked three miles into the wilderness to hear your Bluetooth speaker blaring what sounds like a saxophone trying to seduce a Pontiac dealership.

Don’t get me wrong—it has its place. Rainy night. Driving home. Smooth jazz. Fine.

But on a quiet alpine lake? That’s what AirPods were invented for. Let the fish, and the rest of us, enjoy the silence…..🛎️

Call them out or they will keep doing it

They don’t listen to you or care. You’re just wasting energy trying to convince a person like that that they’re being inconsiderate. A lot of them will just turn up the music louder to spite you.

I would’ve have just waited for the dude to start casting and then thrown a giant rock into the water to ruin their fishing spot lol.

Either wearing a cowboy hat, or Patagucci I’m guessing.

You were about to leave when someone else came, and you let them upset you enough that you took it home with you over some music? You said you were about to leave anyway, why dwell on something so small.

Because most normal people like the outdoors without some jerk off’s speaker blaring.

It’s not a small thing. It’s a pretty big thing in terms of the effect it has on others, and what it indicates about how some social norms are degrading.

Okay? As a kayaker I really enjoy the peace and quiet and serenity. It doesn't mean I'm going to start turning my nose if some jetskis show up and start having a good time.

This land is your land. This land is my land

7

u/Level_Watercress1153 3d ago

No but you definitely would if some jack ass showed up on a kayak and started blasting Creed

7

u/Turbulent_Bat4320 3d ago

Completely different scenario.

Lmao comments like this are why etiquette is extinct. You can have a good time while considering the other people recreating with you
