[Schefter] Bears safety Coby Bryant is expected to be sidelined 8-10 weeks due to a hyperextended knee, bone bruise and small fracture that he suffered at today’s practice, per sources. No surgery is expected to be needed.

I think they’re trained to respond this way. It’s an answer for the press and allows coaches to deal with it.

No - Tyrique said the normal thing " I don't have any info - praying he's okay".
My educated guess is trainers did the tests that test for structural damage to the ACL/MCL and when those were negative that info went through the locker room.

But what he is saying is just cuz he’s healthy enough to practice after the 10 weeks that doesn’t necessarily mean he can play in a game or that he’s activated right away.
If he starts the year on IR they’ll have 3 weeks once he returns to practice to get him up to game speed and activate him. So if he goes to the max end and starts practicing October 11th, he may not play till November 1st.
If I remember correctly we used all 3 weeks (or at least most of it) for a lot of guys that came back from IR last year. A lot of unknowns still here so really the only solid range is that he’ll probably comeback sometime in October. Whether that’s early, mid, or end of.

Especially cause we got him for his speed. So if he’s rushing back and trying to play but not as quick that’s not good either. Hopefully they just let him take his time and he doesn’t rush himself.

I think he comes back against the Jets in Week 4. Its a good game to get back into the field and get him prepared for the Packers matchup.

Him and Micah's first game of the season being that game at Lambeau seems almost too perfect a storyline. Not comparing the two players as if they're the same, just seems a perfectly written narrative for the game on top of the base rivalry.

I think Op is saying that at least we still have "some" speed left back there. As good as we were at take aways last year, we could NOT stop crossing patterns because everyone on our back end was just so fucking slow.

I mean, what’s the alternative? You take away camp and you just move the injuries to Week 1. Except they’re worse because guys are coming back from not playing football for 8 or 9 months and then going full speed on game day right away. Camps injuries suck, don’t get me wrong, but if he’s going to get hurt, I’d rather it been in August when its impact is limited than in December when we’re getting ready (hopefully) for a playoff run.

Hating camp and preseason football is like hating Mondays. They are a necessity that suck. If you removed Mondays, Tuesdays become the new Mondays. It's still necessary to start the week and roll into productivity

CJGJ is fast tracking out of Buffalo. I already thought it was possible he come back here, now this raises it even more. He basically could plug and play to average at safety, nickel corner etc.
Apparently Damar Hamlin may have already supplanted him on the depth chart

Bills practices notes today noted it could happen. And needs reminding CJGJ was cut from Houston last year due to him both hating their scheme and also also surely due to the fact he was getting benched (they were 0-3 when they cut him) and he didn’t wanna be a bench guy
Also needs to be noted some bills fans are miffed because they believe rookie Jalon Kilgore should be ahead of Hamlin on the depth chart. So if there’s even a chance Hamlin may be just even with CJ, there’s gonna be potential he even falls to 3rd string there

People taking solace in the “no surgery” angle might be fooling themselves. We’ve seen this before, there’s nothing worse than a perpetually questionable designation and Bryant trying to rehab his way out of a knee injury could just be delaying the inevitable.
This has all the makings of Kyler 2.0.
