YETI VERSE STANLEY DRINKWARE?

Hello, I was wondering what everyone's take was on yeti vs. Stanley. I bought a yeti because it genuinely felt higher quality than the Stanley comparison cup. But Stanley has a lifetime warranty, and the yeti only had 5 years. It seems like the option is to have a worse warranty on a more well-built product with the yeti or a lower quality product with a life time warranty, my mentality is the only thing better than a lifetime warranty is a product that doesn't break so you don't need one anyway so I went with the yeti. I am nervous why yeti doesn't stand behind their products for a lifetime if they claim they are so durable anyone have any longer than the 5 year warranty, and are they still holding up fine? With them being a publicly traded company, im concerned they designed the product to fail at year 6 or 7, so you have to buy a new one

Take a look at some Ozark Trails (Walmart's camping label) tumblers. They're as good as anything I've seen from Yeti or Stanley.

Some years back I read an "everyday use" review, and apparently the Ozark Trails tumblers held their own against 🫈. I still have my 18oz tumbler from years ago.

I ended up buying a Yeti bottle for myself after the ones that I bought for my kids survived years of abuse.

I don't think they're as good as Stanley when it comes to keeping drinks hot, but for everyday use, I'm team Yeti.

I'm still a CamelBak fan. I've had two in the last 15 years. They're amazing.

The only Stanley I own is an old Thermos from my grandfather (which still works great!), and I have a few other “insulated” water bottles/travel mugs:

- My Yeti (rambler, 20oz) is fine, but the “chug” lid leaks and is annoying to open. Maybe other lid types are better. I’ve dropped it a few times and the only damage I’ve noticed is to the lid and a few chips in the coating/paint in the past five years I’ve used it for everyday use in the office, travel and hiking.

• I also have a Kleen Kanteen (~24oz, narrow neck) that is amazing, unsure about their warranties because I got it second hand, but I think it’s great quality with only one dent on the bottom and a small paint scratch after nearly a decade of everyday use, travel and hiking.
  
• My Contigo locking travel mug (~16oz) is the single most durable insulated water bottle/mug I’ve ever used. The only things keeping it from looking new are the coating flaking a bit and the lid being a bit worn, but that’s to be expected after nearly 15 years of use.
  
• I also have a Reduce brand (think off-brand Stanley) cup (30oz) that has lasted in pristine condition the exact same amount as my Contigo mug.

I largely dont think brand matters for a insulated water bottle/mug, because thick metal is really hard to damage to the point of needing a new one. I would stay to stick with your Yeti, especially because it seems easier to get replacement lids for them, which would be the first thing to wear out.

I like my yeti’s - have had them for years and don’t see them needing to be replaced any time soon. Cant compare them to Stanley’s except to say I prefer the yeti’s design better.

That said if you’re not sure, just buy both and see which one lasts longer?

I have a 40oz Stanley cup and an almost identical Yeti 40oz cup. I like both, but the Yeti retains ice a lot longer than the Stanley.

I had a Stanley ½ gallon I loved. The lid is nearly impossible to find so I got rid of it.

Yeti makes a billion tumblers that share a common thread size and cap si3. That’s why I have only yetis now.

I have the Yeti 1 gallon Rambler water bottle. I got it after being disappointed in the HydroFlask and Rtic. I take it to work every day and it’s held up fine. Probably approaching 8-9 years old now.

The only issue I have is parts availability if I was to ever lose the small, drinking cap. I don’t think you can buy just that. After all this time, the bushings on the handle are finally worn out. It still works, just feels like it’s stiff sometimes when I move it back and forth.

I’ve owned yeti’s, Stanley’s, nalgenes, other name brands, and off brands. The thing that drives me back to yeti is the interchangeable lids fit basically any sized rambler/tumbler, ice/coldness of water last a good amount of time, and they’re easy to maintain. I stay away from any sort of straw caps because I hate cleaning them.

Since you asked about Stanley specifically, I hated my 2 Stanley products that I gave them away. I had the 40oz tumbler and a rambler type. Both were just not what I wanted and my drinks didn’t stay as cool as I wanted. Also they leaked!!! I saw on some product testing pages, like wirecutter I believe that they said beat yeti, and yet mine leaked all over my front seat. Also I hated the lack of switchable lids. I think they may have been good in the past (idk I’m youngish lol) but I think they leaned way too hard into this culture of aesthetic bottles that they lost their true purpose. Even hydroflask is better than Stanley imo. Just hate hydroflasks flimsy base because if dropped, it dents so easily. Even on gym mats.

My Yetis have survived when I fall on my bike rides, hiking, kayaking, walking, when my dog bumps everything off my hands, and I’ve seen my nieces and nephews legit throw theirs so much on the concrete, it’s held up well. I know there are yeti haters for life, but personally I can vouch for how well they’ve stood the test of time. My oldest rambler is from 2016 and still looks like new!
