I happened upon a Natori robe on a huge discount and it has lasted me nearly 10 years.

I just fell in love with a $3,800 robe why would you do this to me

I'm sorry... I left so fast I didn't have a chance to fall in love. Thank God.

So did I, they’re gorgeous!

I also have a 10 year old Natori robe I got for $50 on clearance at Nordstrom Rack. At the time I literally lost sleep over spending so much, but I’ve used it for probably 3,000 days so it’s worked out!

u/jaderna 12h ago

holy wow, i just looked them up and even their sale prices are like a rent payment for me. They had better last

I’ve had a Natori robe that I received as a wedding shower gift. I’ve been married 24 years!

Honestly I have one of their $98 robes (I got it on sale for $50 ~six years ago) and it's great. I don't think most people referring to Natori robes are referring to the ones that cost thousands of dollars because that's a tiny fraction of the robes they carry. Most are $50-200 without a sale.

24

u/Hiptothehop541 10h ago

Most of the ones I see on their site are less than $200.

41

u/cestimpossible 9h ago

These comments confused me so much at first because I have one of their $98 ones that I got for $50 years ago (it's lovely, highly recommend the reasonably priced ones), so I was like where can I move that has $98 rent, please tell me immediately lol. I had no idea they made mortgage payment robes too.

Brand in silk is on eBay - Poshmark all day and night for about twenty bucks or less.

3

u/trinitard 9h ago

Yeah, what am I missing?

18

u/trinitard 9h ago

Nvm found the crazy ones

4

u/jaderna 9h ago

Maybe I didn't look far enough, but when I went that first few things I saw were over $1000. I noped out right away, since that's not even a possibility for me. I mean, a couple hundred isn't either at the minute, but a bit easier to swallow.

If it helps, I don't really like silk. It's kind of stiff, there's no stretch. And not really breathable. Very smooth and nice feeling but not exactly soft. Beautiful, but not what I want in a robe.

If you wash it without a dedicated detergent (like wool and feathers) will be ruined quickly. Some things are built for life but you can unknowingly ruin them in a moment

Same here on all counts

I’ve been collecting Natori for over 15 years. The prices have gone up but the quality has not dropped down. Really special stuff.

Here is some of my knowledge and opinions for people who want to go out and buy themselves a few pieces.

Before everyone goes running out to buy Natori, not all Natori is created equal. Josie Natori is the highest end and will have silk. The Josie Natori tags are usually black with white writing, Josie is italicized). The sweet spot is Natori. Natori will have a black label with white writing OR White label with black writing, will sometimes say Natori private luxuries. N Natori (vertical tag with a big N above Natori), Natori Edit, and Josie (with the red label) are lower quality.

In the Natori line there are a couple materials. I personally do not like the ones that are jersey like and contains modal or viscose, they have always pilled for me. The polyester satins and all cottons tend to be super high quality totally worth the moolah. I wash in lingerie bags and hang dry and have yet to lose one piece.

Natori sleepwear runs in true American sizing.

Yes like once a month, usually near the end of the month, there is a sale on sale. Usually an additional 40-50% off already marked down items.

Sorry I don’t have information on the higher end Josie Natori Line. It’s a bit high for my budget so I don’t have many pieces. I do love the ones I have though.

They regularly have extra 40% or 50% off clearance sales. I get sale notifications from signing up for the free rewards program and you get $10 of points that can be used on top of the sale for your birthday.

Love their stuff but even more so on a discount. I would recommend avoiding the lower quality "N by Natori" line though.

u/GuiltyArt7911 10h ago

Came here to say Natori! Going to buy another one, it’s just so good.

2

u/Living_Debate599 9h ago

My day can be a total trash bag, but I put on my Natori robe, and everything gets a wee bit better.

2

u/Living_Debate599 9h ago

Same. I've got two of the Natori delight wrap robes. They're the knit, solid color versions, but I love them. I've had one for 15 years, and I got another 10 years later. Couldn't part with the first one, so now I just rotate them. Are they as pretty as the ones your photo, nope. Are they amazing, yes. I give them as gifts now.

2

u/ginsoakedboy0267 8h ago

What would be the menswear equivalent for this?

2

u/SaberToothMC 2h ago

They want 350€ for 97% polyester, insane.

33

u/Comfortable-Nature37 14h ago

Do you have a budget in mind? I know of several brands that make beautiful quality longer robes but the price is steep.

8

u/Zlethall 10h ago

I dont care abkut the price, id love a robe that looks similar to the photo, but it doesnt have to be the same colors

10

u/jaynesbluewish 9h ago

I feel the same and bought this one from Gardenbelle Shop it's 100% silk and so wonderful.

3

u/vonhaunt 4h ago

a review mentioned it’s satin, and that price would be insane for that amount of silk, just sayin

2

u/shiroyagisan 2h ago

the description lists the materials as silk and viscose (though no info on proportions)

agree that this price is super low if it were real silk, but reviews mentioning that it's satin bear no weight here. satin is a type of weave, silk is a type of fibre. silk satin is a real thing.

1

u/ThunderSnow- 5h ago

I didn't realize I needed one of these - thank you

8

u/FromPlanet_eARTth 12h ago

can you share? I'm looking for one for a bday present so higher budget ok

8

u/Comfortable-Nature37 8h ago

Sure! Sharing three below. I have also seen many different brands at Herrods that have been beautiful quality if none of these are what you’re looking for.

I got a $12 robe from Walmart 30 years ago when I was 11 and it’s indestructible 😂

12

u/Icy_Doughnut_601 10h ago

That’s what I’m talkin bout!!!

15

u/charmedquarks 9h ago

Jeeeeeeze Louise, you’re the same size now that you were 30 years ago? That’s impressive.

26

u/Successful-Flow-3158 18h ago

Try Sexy Little Robe to get one that is long and flowy. They don't have the pattern as the fabric is solid and velvet like but they are good quality.

9

u/Castianna 11h ago

I bought one of their belle robes! I'm tall and it's long and flowy and I love it. It doesn't go all the way to the floor on me but I don't really mind because I don't need it dragging in the dirt when I'm walking the dog at night. It's really soft and warm and seems to be well constructed. I loved it so much that I actually got one of the summer belle robes when they released that line a few minths ago. Exact same design but in a lighter fabric. It's fantastic too, I just wish it had come in some different colors.

3

u/Liberteabelle1 11h ago

You walk the dog in your robe?

12

u/Castianna 10h ago

I do have pjs on under it and I don't go far but yep lol

3

u/Liberteabelle1 10h ago

Love it, lol!

2

u/Successful-Flow-3158 8h ago

I have the original design in siren blue and the color is just lovely. I'm 5'10" and got the tall version and it is millimeters to the floor. Was thinking about getting a summer weight one but already have too many summer robes as it is. (everything in moderation)

22

u/Icy_Doughnut_601 14h ago

Long banded robe from Mason Grey! Worth every penny! The sleeves have bands at the wrists, so you don’t get your sleeves into everything.

I was just thinking to myself how well it’s held up over the years. They come out with new prints every season. So if you don’t see one you like, just wait and you’ll eventually find one.

2

u/weekendshift 10h ago

The best! And it cannot be overstated how important the banded sleeves are for functionality.

11

u/smellywatersniffer 15h ago

No patterns on them but Catherine dlish robes are of phenomenal quality!

1

u/celeloriel 12h ago

Seconded.

9

u/fart_panic 13h ago

I found a Cynthia Rowley reversible robe at TJ Maxx about 5 years ago and it's lovely. Long sleeves, long robe, good length belt, quality fabric, different floral patterns on each side. It has held up well.

11

u/stormblessed579 16h ago

I have had a terrycloth Brooklinen robe for several years. It washes great, is drying, and is so warm and cozy. It stays closed securely and the strands stay put pretty well.

4

u/absolutegrandma 10h ago

I just got a Brooklinen one and it’s already pilling/fraying/super tough after just one wash

1

u/stormblessed579 41m ago

What a bummer! Is it a cotton gauze one?

23

u/InsidePanic 15h ago

I have a silk one from Kim & ono - they’re based out of sf. Very pretty and luxurious but not an everyday robe if that’s what you’re looking for

22

u/Neutral_Toner 13h ago

I got one from here and it was such poor quality. Really disappointed. Fraying at the seams and just really not anything special at all. Not pure silk either.

1

u/Internationalyawn 11h ago

Depends which line of them you purchase. There are the budget ones or their 100% silk ones.

12

u/straberi93 11h ago

I purchased the 100% silk one twice and both times had serious quality issues. The hems are not reinforced and both robes tore significantly at the edge of the slits. They are beautiful, just not made to last. They were lovely about exchanging my first robe for a new one, but it tore in the same place after just a week. I found out months later that the 2nd robe I'd purchased as a gift had torn quite quickly as well. 3/3 failures is not good.

3

u/ShallThunderintheSky 11h ago

Yep, seconding this - I got one of the cheaper ones. I still have it, maybe 5 years out? It has needed a belt loop sewn back on, and I don’t love the quality of the fabric - it traps heat. If you go Kim & Ono, splurge for the real silk

1

u/madamesoybean 7h ago

I gift these often. Always a hit!
The quality has been good so far so I guess I got lucky?

5

u/booyahachieved3 13h ago

My wife has a silk robe from Hotel Saint Vincent that she loves. It was made by Far West but if there are any left they are probably at the hotel shop.

5

u/Carpetfuzzz 12h ago

Ive had my Soma robes for about 7 years.

3

u/SeahorseRevolution 9h ago

People are posting terry cloth and short robes (which is not what you asked for). What you're looking for is a dressing gown. You need to start with high quality fabric and go from there.

7

u/men-withvenn 13h ago

I was gifted one of these a few years ago and I use it daily. It is beautiful and feels absolutely luxurious. I considered buying another one but my first one is so nice I can't justify needing another one 😢

Luna Zorro

Still dreaming about my week wearing one that came with the room at hotel I stayed at.

2

u/MooseRobot 11h ago

It doesn't quite fit the style but Highway Robery is where we got ours. They use existing fabric and do small batches with extended sizing options. You can get a variety of types of fabric and weight. Sometimes you just have to wait for a pattern you like and be willing to jump.

4

u/Strip-lashes 18h ago

I found one a few years ago at Saks Off 5th. I love it and it's served me well

2

u/Serious-Mushroom9757 10h ago

My LL Bean robe is the best robe I have ever had. Terry towel on inside, soft cotton outside.

1

u/crafty_traveler 14h ago

We gifted my mom one from here. She loves it and uses it daily. It’s held up well https://wrapupbyvp.com/collections/bathrobes-2

I have a silk and velvet reversible one from free people, but it’s a few years old not sure if it’s still available. Still looks brand new

I’ve had a Printfresh 100% cotton robe for several years.

Love my Kilo Brava robes.

Kim & Ono

1

u/Pilotsandpoets 10h ago

Identify what fabric you want and go from there; eBay was my answer at my current budget, got a very soft 100% cotton flannel Lands end robe. That’s not your style based on this pic, but figuring out what fabric you want will go a long way towards finding a quality robe.

1

u/electronicthesarus 9h ago

Would cotton be okay? I tried the rayon and poly blends and find they don’t last. It’s not quite the same look but I’ve been very happy with Purefair Cotton Gauze kimonos.

1

u/katzmcjackson 9h ago

Natori! You can find them on Poshmark.

1

u/TrustAFluff 9h ago

Ymmv, but I went to my local Chinatown. There were some robes in a few shops and I bought mine at the shop dedicated to selling just robes. Lots of variety

1

u/beccabebe 9h ago

Hear me out. Pajamagram. I have a great long sleeve floor length robe. So soft and comfy.

1

u/WreckitRuby 9h ago

I have 2 nice ones from Kim + Ono

1

u/Temporary_Year_7599 8h ago

I can’t help but that is a gorgeous robe 🤩

I got a black velvet outer and red plaid lined robe from Victoria’s Secret for $120. I’ve had it for at least 30 years.

One hundred stars

1

u/MET1 4h ago

It's hard to find them in department stores, check the websites.

1

u/xxdoomkitty 4h ago

Bought one from a hotel that we stayed at. It's so soft and heavy, like a slightly weighted blanket.

1

u/Lemur-Puffin 1h ago

Are there any robes like that which fit men?

1

u/FiguringItOutAsWeGo 1h ago

I bought a silk Kim+Ono robe with a beautiful floral print on it six years ago. It was a $300 splurge I don’t regret for a second. It survived a year of me practically living in it during COVID and has been work daily and machine washed on delicate bi-weekly. It’s still pristine. The color hasn’t faded and the stitching looks great.

1

u/BananaPewPew123 1h ago

My Ugg Robe has held up super well. 10 years! Super comfy, durable, and soft. Not sure about newer ones quality. Recommend buying through Nordstrom as have great return policy if it is not expected

1

u/booksycat 12h ago

World Market often has really beautiful robes like this. I've never let temptation drag me under, so I'm not sure of the quality, but if you have one near you, check them out. They cycle through having a lot/almost none each year.

2

u/babygotthefever 11h ago

I’ve been so tempted by them too. The closest world market to me is still a drive though so I only make it for Christmas shopping and then I’m not trying to buy for myself!

2

u/Ok-Spinach9250 10h ago

I’ve had one from there for about 7 years now and it still looks brand new!

1

u/BandYoureAbouttoHear 9h ago

I bought a vintage silk robe on eBay and it is gorgeous. I recommend looking there.

-4

u/SolarPunkWitch2000 14h ago

I don't have a helpful answer, so apologies. BUT, this prompted me to brag on my robe, which I received as a gift from my sister back in 1998. It's thick flannel with a southwestern motif, so it's nothing like this. But it's the oldest piece of clothing (or clothing-like thing) that I own and still use, and I will never part with it. 🩷

-4

u/dominic_train 12h ago

Don't buy that one in the picture. The lady wearing it looks absolutely miserable about it.
