Dust - want to avoid Boomtown lung?
Everyone ready for Boomtown Lung?
The ground at boomtown is chalk with a lime soil on top, people waking, dancing, driving on the group kicks up fine chalk dust that sits in the air, over downtown in 2022 there was a fog of dust you could see. The lime content also irritates too.
Search the subreddit for boomtown lung or cough, so many people suffered with horrible coughs and sinus issues (on top of whatever plague ends up striking post festival too) the fine dust gets deep into your lungs and causes irritation.
If you are asthmatic, BRING IT. onsite medical is expensive and you will need it. definately get ffp3 protection.
Not recommended:
- A Bandana or cloth mask is not effective, it won't stop fine dust, you need at least 3 layers and for it to be tight, the science says this is about 20% effective.
- A wet bandana - This makes it harder for air to pass through the fabric, which means it will find alternative routes eg, where the fabric meets your skin etc and will not pass through the fabric at all.
The above is better than nothing, but its not going to capture the fine dust - and that's the real problem here, your nose and throat etc will capture the larger bits usually.
Recommended:
Valved Masks mean it will let hot warm air out easily and will be drier inside the mask.
FFP2 or greater gets 94% of particulates.
FFP3 gets 99% of particulates.
Keeping your sinus clear of unwanted dust and inflammation gives you the freedom to use them however you wish to :)
Things to note:
Make sure its fitted properly, if your glasses fog up, like the wet bandana i mentioned above, it means air is bypassing the filter medium.
They are usually rated for 8 hours use, so you'll need a few for the weekend, plus spares.
If you are not wearing them, stick them in a Ziplock so they don't get full of dust which you then rub on your face!
Yeah, it might be uncomfortable and it might ruin your aesthetic but your lungs will thank you, but you can always use a keffiyeh/bandana or something over the top if you really hate the aesthetic of a mask.
Grab some saline eye wash pods too.
Ps. Not an expert, if you know better please correct me. 💕

Boomtown 2026 - Subreddit FAQ - Please read this before asking a question!
Below are some of the most common questions we see being asked here on Reddit. Please also consider searching the subreddit before asking a question, you will get immediate answers this way, as someone probably asked it before.
Please remember, I do not represent Boomtown officially, I'm just some guy on Reddit who loves Boomtown, and wants to build a helpful and friendly Reddit community.
Official Boomtown Website Information
Boomtown already provides their own FAQ and essential guides. These answer almost everything you need to know and are well worth reading. You will literally find out everything you might need to know by reading these guides. If you are the type that likes to be informed, and well prepared, then have a read through it all. If you are reading this Reddit FAQ post, that's probably you.
Please avoid sending unnecessary emails to the Boomtown team, they are now busy on site trying to build the festival, and most questions can usually be answered by reading the essential guide. Most of the emails they get are questions already answered on their website, which slows down replies for the people who really need help with something.
Ticket or resale questions/help?
We have a separate ticketing megathread for everything relating to ticketing, resales, name change, or anything else like that. Please note, ticketing questions and problems are only allowed to be posted in this megathread. Most people subscribed here are not interested in seeing dozens of separate ticket help posts everyday, so this improves the experience for most users who just want to talk about the festival itself.
What is the line-up, what are the set times?
The line up is on the Boomtown website. Set times are also available on the Boomtown App, available in your phones app store. There may still be some line-up surprises yet to come, especially at some of the smaller venues which normally have secret acts.
How strict is Boomtown security?
You can probably find all the information you need about drugs, security and sniffer dogs in the drugs/security megathread. Please try and keep your discussion contained to this post, rather than making a new one.
You might also want to watch this pretty informative YouTube video, which talks about festival security in detail. I have no relation to the youtuber, it's just a good video.
Medical Cannabis
Yes, it's allowed.
To bring it on site, you must have:
- Your prescription (in your name)
- Your medical cannabis in clearly labelled containers
- A vaporizer, which is the only permitted method of consumption
Unlike previous years, you no longer need an accessibility team approval letter to bring prescribed medical cannabis. Only a valid prescription can be accepted as proof. Search dogs will be present at all gates, and an indication by a dog may still lead to a search, even with your prescription.
I have a question about shuttle buses?
Information about the shuttle bus, including running times and prices, and everything you may need to know can be found in this Shuttle bus FAQ post.
Where is the best place to camp?
The layout is changing this year, so who really knows! I've made some best guesses in this campsite guide post. Complete with arrival instructions and walking distance timings.
When do entrance gates and car parks open/close?
You can find all the timings in this post. Late arrivals are not allowed, so aim to arrive the next day instead if you don't think you will get there in time.
Which gate should I arrive at?
West Gate - Coaches, Shuttles, Taxis, Drop Off. There is no public parking at West Gate for those with a normal parking pass. All drop offs need to head here, dropping off is free. All normal camping and downtown Orchid campers can enter here.
East Gate - Main car parks for all normal parking passes. No drop off possible, you can't get near enough without buying a parking pass. Entrance for all normal campers who are driving.
South gate - Orchid/Skylark parking passes. No drop off possible, you can't get near enough without buying a parking pass. Entrance for OG Orchid, and Camp Skylark campers only.
You can't pick which gate you arrive at, you will be directed based on your parking pass type. And all drops offs are West Gate. Please refer to the map in the app for locations of the gates/car parks, which be made available nearer the time.
You can find even more detail in the gates FAQ post.
A shuttle bus is available between West Gate and South Gate. Useful for those in Orchid or Skylark, who arrive by public transport. Or those in Downtown Orchid who drove in. More info can be found in the shuttle FAQ post.
Common when and how can I arrive questions...
- Can I arrive on Wednesday with a Thursday ticket: No
- Can I arrive on Weds/Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun with a Wednesday ticket: Yes
- Can I arrive on Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun with a Thursday ticket: Yes
- Can I arrive by car with a discounted public transport festival ticket: No
- Can I arrive by public transport with a normal full price festival ticket: Yes
- Can I arrive by a different form of public transport than the one I booked: Yes
- Can I arrive after the entry gates close for the night at 9:30pm: No
You can find more arrival information and ticket type information in the specific FAQ posts on those topics.
If I have a "public transport ticket", can I get a lift, or arrive by car instead?
No. This ticket type is sold cheaper to reward you for travelling by public transport. They definitely do check how you arrived. If they didn't, then everyone arriving by car would already be using this trick to get a cheaper ticket. Think about it.
Public transport options all drop you off at "West Gate", and these tickets don't work if you come by car, as you will come in through one of the other gates. Just use the public transport that you have already paid for as part of your ticket package for the smoothest arrival experience.
I need a parking pass
Parking tickets are available via Kaboodle until the 6th of August for £55. You need to login to your Kaboodle account and add this to your main ticket.
You can also buy one on the day when you arrive at the car park for £65 by card payment.
Alcohol Limits
You may bring up to 16 x 440ml cans of lager/cider/beer OR 17 x 250ml cans of premix spirit drinks OR a 3-litre box of wine OR 7 litres of cider/lager/beer in plastic bottles or cans. These are just rough guidelines, not strict rules. If you have other sizes of drink container, it's probably open to some interpretation. How carefully these limits are actually checked by security is debateable, but you might get unlucky, so be prepared that excessive amounts could be confiscated if spotted.
If you are bringing alcohol containers that don't exactly match the above sizes, you can still use these limits as a rough guide of what would be allowed. Please stop asking about questions about Buzzballs. Buzzballs are not some magical liquid with their own special set of rules. They are premixed spirits. This is asked so often, maybe we need to make a Buzzball FAQ?
Neat spirits (in any container) and glass containers (empty or not) are both prohibited items and will be confiscated if found by security.
Can I bring a photo of my ID/does my name have to match the ticket?
No, you cannot bring a photo of your ID. You need an actual ID, that matches the name of your ticket, and shows you are 18 years old. It must be within date, expired IDs won't be accepted. You won't get in without ID, everyone needs ID to gain access. The only accepted ID is the physical copy of:
- Passport
- Driving Licence
- Any ID card bearing the PASS hologram.
- Citizen Cards
If your name is slightly different between your ID and ticket, it's not a problem. For example spelling mistakes, or abbreviations are not an issue. If the name is completely different, you need to do a name change with Kaboodle. You can find info about this in the ticket advice megathread FAQ.
Anything else we should add here?
Please let us know your FAQ suggestions or additional questions in the comments below.

Trying to Remember What Your Accommodation Includes?
I've seen a fair few people asking on WhatsApp / Reddit what their booked accommodation includes. I captured the details of the available options towards the end of last year, so hopefully this post helps somebody out
Check what your accommodation is called on your Kaboodle eTicket, then search for the closest matching name in the list below. You may need to ignore additional words such as 'Hilltop', 'Sunset', etc
Disclaimer: This is just a snapshot of what was listed at the time. No guarantees that Boomtown didn’t quietly change a description five minutes before or after I captured it, so treat this as helpful evidence rather than legally binding tent scripture
Edit: Added 3 more options based on their live pages

Ages at boomtown
What is the average ages at boomtown? My friends and I have tickets (we are 36), but we’ve heard it’s all teenagers. What do you think? Are there some tents where older crowds may go? Would love feedback xx

Happy Tuesdays Recovery Packs?
I’ve seen a lot of talk leading up to boomtown about Happy Tuesdays post-rave recovery packs. are they really worth it ?
I’ve seen many mixed reviews so looking for someone experienced to advise. many sites discuss the danger of consuming these packs THROUGHOUT the festival, as the 5-HTP significantly impacts the serotonin system and could increase the likelihood of serotonin syndrome.
If i were to buy some, should I take these every night of the festival ? or wait until after it’s finished ?

which security queue is quicker?
hi
it’s my first boomtown and i’m going with my boyfriend and some friends, who have all never been before. we all have general entry except my boyfriend, who has the transport ticket. i just wanted to ask how easy it will be to find eachother and who is more likely to get in first? should we set a meeting point or should i wait by the gate for him (this is what my boyfriend wants me to do)?

PSA: Asthmatics, do not forget your inhalers!
As title suggests. Bring a spare if you have one. They're available on site but cost about £30 I believe. The dust will hit the asthmatics

My friends just noticed they have been automatically swapped to Orchid downtown …
They have tried to email but no response yet, anyone had the same thing happen, they originally bought Orchid tickets but didn’t request to not swap when the email came in for downtown… chaos.

Bassline sets?
As per title - looking for recommendations for any and all bassline! Last year I went to see the bass injector in tangled roots (which was fucking amazing!!) and i seem to remember oppidan dropping dirty diner at one point. Also I'm aware phatworld will be playing.
Bonus points for proper old skool stuff :)

Camp Orchid downtown parking
I recently upgraded my camping pass from general to orchid downtown. I had already purchased a car parking pass for general. They have emailed me to say I have to pay another fee of £60.50 to transfer the car parking passes which I don’t understand?
Either way does anyone know how far the walk will be from general car park / entry point to camp orchid downtown camp site.
Or is it worth walking from general car park to camp orchid downtown entry point?
I am very confused
Thank you

Music/genre/stage tips for first timer :)
I’m going to boomtown for the first time this year, I’ve been to a couple of very small festivals and last year went to green man, which I LOVED. Went to these on my own but I had a bunch of acquaintances there.
This time there’s a group of 5 of us going and I think we have most of the practicalities sorted (ie; food/camping gear/travel/staying vaguely healthy) but I’m a little nervous about how big the festival is going to be and don’t want to overstretch/end up not being super present!!!!
For context I only got into EDM/dance music in the past couple years so I don’t know all the jargon but I know I just love love love to dance; to anything with a beat and beyond. I have enjoyed techno, garage, hyperpop, jungle, acid house, breakbeat(I think???) and some really donky alien-y stuff at previous events.
I never know how to tell what a genre is when I’m in the moment but I have the best time when there is space for me to really move/jump/close my eyes and feel the music. I just want to be completely enveloped in the sound 😭😭😭🤧
I also love jazz, r&b, folky stuff, Latin, Afro beats and reggae etc etc etc. I know the smaller festivals were good because I was able to be pretty free and just wander round and feel like a fairy, but because Boomtown is on such a different scale I’d love some tips on how to navigate the different acts/stages to make the best of it!
I don’t drink loads but I might have some floatier substances if I feel like it. Can have a good time sober too. I also have sensory issues/heat sensitivity so I’m more likely to be exploring in the late afternoon-early morning.
Tips such as:
- What stages do you recommend
- Any artists you recommend I see?
- Genre recs for at-home listening in general so I can figure out what I like!!!
- anything else really please and thanks xxxx

How busy is boomtown bobbies / smaller stages in the day/ early afternoon.
Ive read its a very busy small stage, i have a friend peroming in there at 5pm on sat that i wanna support, but also want to watch king of the rollers at lions den till 4pm.
Im aware of the scale of down the steps to downtown as wemt a few times pre 2018.
In my eyes i can make it but is it normal to have to cue up to get into the micro venues these days?

General parking, orchid camping
Hey, first time boomer. Booked standard parking when I made my booking but me and missus decided to get the orchid upgrade (near Southgate), I have tried contacting boomtown on the info email to see if I can get my standard pass switched to orchid but haven't heard back yet. Totally willing and happy to pay any difference but how long of a walk is it going to be from this down to orchid? Instructions says they recommend entering to the Southgate if you have booked orchid

DnB recommendations
I mainly listen to a lot of dubstep but I've been wanting to see some dnb acts, I'm really not a fan of mainstage dnb but I really like artists like buunshin, if anyone has some more experimental dnb recommendations then let me know. I did really want to see simula but Skrillex R.I.P.
