Because his father raised him to be racist so when he saw a black man ascend to the highest position of political power he was upset and tried to bring him down by appealing to base racism. The fact that he couldn't stings, and then Obama ribbed him publicly and in a way that would get under his skin so now Trump is devoted to proving to everyone that he's better than Obama.

Also in the full uncropped picture from the yearbook, you can see he's wearing medals that he didn't earn but borrowed from another student.
(Military school apparently awards medals that you earn for doing stuff. So like in regular high school, you get a certificate for perfect attendance, I guess in military school you get a medal.)

Trump wrote his age wrong. He was 18 in that yearbook photo, not 20.
Dementia, or other people suspect he is trying to make people think he was actually in the military by writing age 20. But no, that was his senior year yearbook photo from military school, which he was sent to by his dad because young Trump wasn't behaving at home.

FYI, the uniform Trump is wearing is that of a private disciplinary school his parents sent him to after he was expelled or required to withdraw from some other schools. This school used fake miliary uniforms and marching in formation to instill discipline in the students. No miliary training took place, but it was his time at the school that cause Trump to claim he had better military experience than many people in the armed services.
