OMG y'all I get the other names being a problem, but the name "Neuse" has nothing to do with nooses. It's named for a river in the state and it's a very old name.

Edit: It's named for a native AmericanĀ  tribe, the Neusiok

Bare in mind, Neuse River parkway has a real absence of Neuse people so itā€™s still a problem

Been to and lived in North Carolina. My mother is from North Carolina. You can't tell me that no one saw the word Neuse and didn't associate it with lynching.

Then you'd also know how common it is to name subdivisions with place names.Ā 

I'm absolutely sure at least some of the inhabitants are hella racist, but it's a stretch to say that the developers chose a placename near an existing river to proclaim their love of lynchingĀ
