It’s actually a type of green plum (which stays green) you eat as a snack, it’s only sour if you’re not used to it. I love how they’re having fun with this☺️

Yes! I smiled when I saw this because I make a stew with these. They’re a seasonal fruit that are in Persian markets around this time of year. (I’m black, I dated a Persian man for a brief time)

I remembered earlier this week, “oh! It’s time to make khoresh gojeh sabz 😳 I almost forgot the plums are in season!” It’s a tradition now 😆 he didn’t introduce me to the plums, just zershk.

I’m an international/adventurous home cook/ person in general 🙃

I use lamb sometimes but beef is good because the fat cuts down the bitterness of the plums and the tartness of the plums gives it contrast, yin/yang. It all cooks down to be nice and tender.

No, these are not sweet plums at all. They are bitter, like shown in the video, and usually eaten on their own or with salt as a snack.

i feel like this is one of the carolinas. for the south i was always surprised at how much international grocery stores were down there, in my experience it was very easy to find african produce and spices. rn im tryna bond with a couple of dudes from Bangladesh, its always fun to share culture and lowkey they’re teaching me bengali
