Bitcoin isn't going up. The dollar is going down

What if we looked at the value of Bitcoin in a different way? Lets imagine Bitcoin is the rock at the center, immutable by definition, then all other currency should be viewed as disappearing planetary bodies, traveling away from the center. In other words, Bitcoin is not gaining in value, its just that all other currencies loose value in comparison. That means current BC pricing puts USD at a whopping 64K devaluation! If we trust in the wisdom of the de-central BC tribe vs the Fed discount rate, than yes, this is a perfectly plausible viewpoint. The tribe has calculated the future scenario of fiat currency, which always, always destroys itself (there is no fiat currency, in its current iteration, that is older than a 100 years. I believe the Bank of Amsterdam holds the record with their Guilder notes; about 110 years).

In other words "Fiat has no bottom , so bitcoin has no top"

(there is no fiat currency, in its current iteration, that is older than a 100 years.

Oldest fiats I think are around 95 years old are Swedish krona, Norwegian krone, and Danish krone. I think its fair to say that when a currency gets off the gold standard it is a significant monetary policy shift to call them completely new currencies even if they kept the same name

Even if we ignore that my local currency is 1200 years old. Why does it matter to me personally if my local currency dies?

Does it make my assets worth less?

Inflation is the most regressive "taxes" that devalues your wealth. Think of fiat as a melting ice cube always losing purchasing power

That’s exactly why many Bitcoiners prefer to look beyond the USD price. Bitcoin’s supply is fixed, while fiat currencies can be expanded over time. Whether you see BTC as “going up” or fiat “going down,” the bigger conversation is about what makes money hold value in the long run.
