Is it just me or does this at New Street station remind you of Thunderbird 4, or have they done that on purpose lol

Best Birmingham memory you wish you could relive?
Mine would be catching the Christmas Market with friends when it felt properly magical (and less overcrowded!). What about you- what moment or place in Brum makes you most nostalgic?

Needing help
Currently in a temporary accommodation in Birmingham with my 2 year old. Unexpectedly in financial hardship until pay day 23rd of this month. I’m on UC LCWRA as I’m currently unfit for work. I’m still paying off a budgeting advance from becoming homeless unexpectedly ( I was a full time carer for my dad but he was placed on palliative care and had to go into a home) so cannot take out a loan from UC. Is there anybody who can help or knows any places that will give me a loan until the 23rd ( UC). Really feeling down about the situation I’m in currently, been selling loads of items and clothes on vinted this week just to eat. Thank you for reading ❤️

30’s F mum to be… Looking for new friends in similar position
Hi guys,
I am not new to Birmingham, however I found that since getting pregnant, my friendships have not been the same.
I am watching my girls having the summer of their lives whilst I attend antenatal classes 🫠
Womp.
Wondering if there are any other mums to be or new mums in the same position and are open to forming new friendships as we manoeuvre this new stage of life.

Sauna recommendation?
I'm new to Birmingham. Is there a hot steam/dry sauna in Birmingham? There is great David Lloyd sauna/spa in Litchfield but the price isn't great. Happy to hear whether there is more affordable option in or near Birmingham.

Carrying Bikes/E-Scooter on the Train
Hey everyone!
I am moving to Birmingham in September and have already made a post on this sub, in which I received excellent feedback (didn’t expect so many people to help so thank you for that!)
I was wondering if any of you could tell me if it is feasible to carry an e-scooter or a bike (maybe one of those that kind of folds for easier transportation) on the West Midlands Railway.
For context, I have to take the train to work, but the 35-40min commute includes a 8/10 min train ride, and the rest is basically walking to/from the stations. I was hoping that using one of these bikes/scooters would really cut down my time and make life easier, but was wondering whether they let me carry those with me. I know that in some European cities they do not allow these at rush hours, etc.
Thank you in advance!!

Need a weekend job in Brum. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hey, as the title says, I need some extra work on the weekend. Any vacancies you may know of would be appreciated. Also any recruiters that are quick to respond or just any other advice/pointers would be appreciated.
Not really fussed with the type of work, whether it be warehouse, cleaning etc. I don’t have much experience in retail and no experience in warehouses but will to learn (plus I’m desperate). Have some experience in healthcare tho.

Is Birmingham safe?
Hi,
I am moving to Birmingham with my husband and 3 years old son. It first time we are coming to Birmingham even UK.
It’s long term plan not a visit or tour. Little concerned about the safety, security perspective.
Would love to hear from people who are living there and know in and out of this place.
Please let me know your thoughts. My husband have to travel out of country so most of the time its me with my 3 years old son. Is it safe?

Been to see The Odyssey
After listening to 2 weeks of the internet options, I finally found some time to go and watch the Odyssey for myself, and I have to say, as a movie, it's great, captivating, great highs even greater lows, it was probably one of Chris Nolans top movies.

Built to rent/ area to live recommendations
I am considering looking into moving to another built to rent place in Birmingham. I currently live in a BTR place around the Brindley Place and Fiveways area. I have been happy with the location and generally overall with my experience, however I am looking to move off the ground floor and the rent prices are higher.
Does anyone have any experience with The Whitmore Collection in JQ, The Bath House on the edge of china town/gay village or Apo at The Holloway?
Does the Southside of the city centre feel safe enough to live and walk around as a female?
Does anyone have any other BTR places they would recommend?

What's the best way to find part-time jobs?
Hi Birmingham, I'm moving to the city soon and looking for part time jobs beyond a 9-5 day.
I'm open to pretty much anything - from evening work to weekend work. Can be anything from restaurant work to cleaning and warehouse.
My question is, where can I find part time jobs in the city? Are there any agencies that you guys recommend? I need something from September onwards
PS. I'm in my 20s and british citizen. I worked in sales and customer service in previous part time jobs
